Hard hard hard game for Rangers vs Midtyglland

Need to be going in this game with the right mentality and defenders need to be in top top shape as have big forwards

Helander would be perfect for this game as knows this type of football outside in I'm sure the defenders are good enough to do a job!

08 Aug 2019 00:02:06
Hopefully milan don't bid for Morelos between now and the game Kaz and unsetttle him? Think helander will be a big player for us this season but cannot just throw him in a game like this. That would be crazy imo. Got to be goldson and katic.

07 Aug 2019 21:14:52
Did you guys hear that big bang there? Tims brought firmly back down to earth!

08 Aug 2019 00:13:22
What. a 1-1 draw away to the champions of Romania, giving us the upper hand going in2 next week tie?

Baffled at that post there mate tbh.

08 Aug 2019 07:12:22
Baffled? Some of your lot had you winning that game at a canter. They made you look very average on the night. If you were happy with that performance then it shows a massive drop in Celtic expectations.

08 Aug 2019 07:37:07
aye because Romania are a pure force in Europe. if yous get thro you play some mob called sheriff lol, its hardly the pinnacle of football.

08 Aug 2019 09:20:51
Bryan they play slavia prague if they get through. Who if you saw them play last year in the Europa they were class.

08 Aug 2019 09:24:01
lads let's be real here. a score draw away in europe against a side who have been a CL regular in recent seasons at a bad result

if we get a score draw n denmark tonight ill be more than happy.

08 Aug 2019 09:30:10
Agree jbf.

08 Aug 2019 09:49:47
Great result for Irish, Coatbridge and Palestinian Football last night 👍😱😂.

07 Aug 2019 19:09:33
Ponder this fellow bears. Our big deadline day signing is an ex player but we get him in his heyday. Who do you want the signing to be and why? Gazza for me, would be the creative link we need in midfield, all the quality in the world and passion for the club to boot!

07 Aug 2019 19:27:54
Laudrup or big mark Hateley.

07 Aug 2019 19:37:19
Not necessarily my fav player, but I’d love Hately. Think how we could vary our game.

07 Aug 2019 20:00:16
I'm going to say van bronckhorst just as I see left back as prob our weakest area right now.

07 Aug 2019 20:03:38
big attila 👊🏻.

07 Aug 2019 20:03:59
My favourite ever Ger Sangil! Hateley is a great shout too, give these hatchet men centre halves a taste of their own medicine!

07 Aug 2019 20:08:02
Paul gascoigne hands down for me fellow bears. He's the greatest, most talented footballer ever to have worn the rangers jersey. A total genius who just couldn't be stopped.
Could win games on his own.

07 Aug 2019 21:11:34
Has to be Davie cooper. Laudrup or Gazza is a good shout also. Coop ticks all the boxes but, skillfull, can score from anywhere and can rattle a free kick.

07 Aug 2019 21:12:08
Not my favourite player but I would choose Barry Ferguson all day long.

07 Aug 2019 21:23:16
Good question snell.

07 Aug 2019 21:27:18
For me it would be super Ally we need out and out goal scorer.

07 Aug 2019 21:31:20
Gascoigne for me guys, SGL, remember the last league game against Aberdeen, they scored first, and Paul took over and scored 2 great goals in 1 3-1 win, the third was outstanding when he went on a run from our box beating man after man before scoring, total genius.

07 Aug 2019 21:40:33
Laudrup every day of week, far better than gazza for me lads.

07 Aug 2019 21:48:37
Gazza all day long just edging Laudrup.

07 Aug 2019 22:00:50
Supercoop. I don't often agree with you but Gascoigne and Best are the two greatest British players I've seen. No.3 would be Slim Jim.

07 Aug 2019 22:04:10
Laudrup was a close second Coops.

07 Aug 2019 22:04:29
I posted Hatley for same reason as John. Not necessarily my favourite, but he would terrorise defencesc here.

07 Aug 2019 22:05:38
Brian laudrup, never have I seen such a talent at ibrox . The guy was an absolute force. quickest I’ve seen over first 5 yards. everybody knew what he was going to do but no one could stop him as he was just too quick. love this man. two footed, lightning quick, skill in abundance, excellent finisher and a handsome devil tae boot. a wid drink his bath water!

07 Aug 2019 22:06:40
Davie Cooper for me. I know we had Ally, Gazza, Laudrup etc, all heroes, but I loved Davie. Had the privilege of being at Hampden as a 12 year old when he scored the best goal I've ever seen against them. Wouldn't put him on the wing though, he'd be my no. 10.

07 Aug 2019 22:25:27
SGL I agree that gazza was the most naturally gifted player who I was lucky enough to have seen playing for us and at the time he was one of the best midfielders around in any league around the world I can remember being about 14 years old and getting my hair dyed white good times.

07 Aug 2019 22:42:35
I have to agree Gazza for me Laudrup was another great but can shy away on the big occasion sometimes His shy nature was superb though if he'd been extrovert somewhat we wouldn't have have got as much years out of him Ibrox Laudrup for me still the cream of the crop with Gazza second for raw talent!

How I would love to have that talent at Rangers again The sport is dead

It is just a Business ow and Sky Sports is killing the game There is no such thing as a loyal footballer nowadays.

07 Aug 2019 23:45:52
Graham Souness he’d boot the rubbish oot of Scott brown.

08 Aug 2019 00:15:19
Alex Rae for me.

08 Aug 2019 07:36:05
Irvger, i can remember that gazza performance against the sheep to win us 8 in a row, as if it was yesterday pal. The great one actually scored a hat-trick that day and of course i was there to witness an absolute genius at work. It was his 2nd goal that you spoke about, that was the mazy run, tearing half an aberdeen team apart to score it. His 3rd goal was a penalty.

Both gazza and laudrup were outstanding footballers, but gazza had an asset, that put him ahead of laudrup for me. No matter who many players tried to knock gazza off his stride, the more he just kept coming against them, tearing them apart in the process. Whereas and i witnessed this, in some occasions when the rough treatment was applied to lauders, he could be knocked of his stride, for a period of that particular game. That for me what sets them apart.

08 Aug 2019 09:03:13
Pre injury Ian Durrant . For me the best player we have ever produced and but for that tackle could have went on to be one of the worlds best.

08 Aug 2019 09:13:48
Laudrup won more games for me. On his own or by opening up defences for others or assists for winners.

08 Aug 2019 09:22:36
Not my favourite player either but I’d go for big Dado Prso. Him and Alfredo would bang in over 50 between them.

08 Aug 2019 10:41:00
Terry Hurlock.

08 Aug 2019 10:42:02
Super Davie cooper. lest we forget.

07 Aug 2019 18:26:22
Saido Berahino Just been released from his contract, free agent and at 26, could be a good option.

07 Aug 2019 18:57:25
I doubt there is a bigger waste of space in football than him, possibly with the exception of Nile Ranger, although it’s a very close call. Honestly, we’ve got better in our under 10’s team mate.

07 Aug 2019 19:29:10
Looked at player bursting through. What a waste of talent simply a horrible human being.

07 Aug 2019 22:42:25
Obviously just a terrible person not to be offered a new contract anywhere. There must be a reason he's a free agent.

07 Aug 2019 17:29:11
andy carroll on a pay as you play contract and goals bonus---yes injury prone but my oh my what a 6 yard target man when fit---be kind now bears its only a suggestion.

07 Aug 2019 18:29:12
It’s an honest suggestion mate but in all honestly what’s in that for Andy Carroll? He’ll still get a contract better than that in the English second division. I still think he’ll be playing (no more than 8 games) in the EPL next season with somebody like Burnley or Sheffield United.

07 Aug 2019 19:15:05
Sadio has like 10 goals in his whole career.

07 Aug 2019 19:40:10
Pay as you play suggestions are utter nonsense. Name me one single player who has that type of contract?

07 Aug 2019 21:16:10
Flanagan has a basic wage then gets paid if in 11 or another fee if on bench.

07 Aug 2019 21:28:22
players who are injury prone---that's who---.

07 Aug 2019 21:35:14
Pretty sure Michael Owen once signed one with Man Itd and won’t have been the last player. Sure it is far from the norm but it does happen. Leave the condescension at the door mate. He was only stating a suggestion and even said just a suggestion.

07 Aug 2019 21:50:58
God knows how many times I have said that. Where does this idea of pay as you play come from. It’s mental and I wouldn’t want anyone at rangers that signed one of them, if they are real, as they must have serious problems. It actually sounds illegal.

07 Aug 2019 22:48:27
Magical pay per play deal suggestion are non stop on here.

08 Aug 2019 07:40:14
we've paid dorrans rossiter Murphy Grezda, and did pay Pena Herrera and lafferty for no kicking a baw. doesn't sound a bad idea to me.

08 Aug 2019 07:45:58
Graham Dorrans on a pay as you play deal. Oh wait a minute!

07 Aug 2019 16:32:58
Interesting to see that Kent's team mate at Liverpool, Harry Wilson, has joined Bournemouth on a season long loan. He is a very talented player and wonder if this could affect Kent's future?

07 Aug 2019 14:35:29
Hey fellow bears looking for your thoughts.
I got out the old dvd collection and watched some if the 9 n row games. After watching it got me thinking, we had some fantastic players on our books throughout that period but one of the things I noticed was the core of the teams was Scottish. Players like Ian Ferguson, John Brown, and big slim, Robertson, and the usual McCoist ect. individual these guys where imo where not world class, but they new what it was about to play for Rangers and always gave 110% in each game. When I look at our current squad the only players that I see with genuine hurt in their face if we lose or draw a game are Halliday, McGregor and maybe Jack, Docherty and Davis.
When I look across the city I see similarities with their core being Scottish.

So basically what I'm asking should there be more of a focus on trying to throw in some of our younger players who have the club in their blood and sticking with them. Hastie, Docherty, Halliday McPake and Mayo.

I'm not sure if it happens in training but playing Rangers supporting players against the others should be reintroduced. I remember McCoist n co talking about the Scottish players playing against the others and on most occasions it ended up tasty with tackles flying in. This would show what it means to play for Rangers to our none supporting players ect.

I think we have a decent squad atm but on occasion some of our players lack passion to give that wee extra 10% that makes the difference in tough games. A bit more of the Killy fight.

Again I'm back to the old chestnut. I have posted on here and get slaughtered for saying Tav should not be our Captain he is 2 niceynice and not a leader. I think I can count on one hand the amount of times I've seen him geeing up the players or getting tore into them if they are playing poor. Imo McGregor or Arfield should be our captain or even Halliday. I want to see passion in our captain.

I will give you couple examples of this passion last seasons first old firm game. Look at the lift the players got from that first tackle by halliday when got to his feet you could see the aggression on his face shouting at the players and fans to come on let's do this and get into them and Arfield getting into proon face. Also Halliday charging over to proon at the end of the game in the defeat at the piggery for disrespecting our fans.

07 Aug 2019 15:04:29
Halliday as captain he’s a ****in sub at best most of the time lol plus goldson and Katic looked scunnered ever time we got beat.

07 Aug 2019 15:20:48
U can't have a captain taht is 3rs choice left back surely?

07 Aug 2019 15:50:34
I was just trying to highlight how Halliday, s passion can be a driving force. Imo last season Halliday was our best left back. If you had to pick a player that u would say was the most improved player in our squad last season. Who would you select. But anyway your missing the point guys and that point is passion and fight. I'm only using Halliday as an example.

07 Aug 2019 17:04:08
My pick would be ryan jack.

07 Aug 2019 17:10:18
Stewart- great post mate, it's great to watch Rangers DVDs of old. I totally agree with your post and I would like Arfield to be captain. I'm not a fan of keepers being captain. Tav is doing well and is extremely fit and injury free but not captain material.

07 Aug 2019 17:17:14
Got to agree - my captain would be Jack as well.

07 Aug 2019 17:20:54
Lay off of Stewartyblue, it is a good post and a good point. I think Halliday is true blue through and through, even though not the best player ever. Ryan Jack would be a good captain as would Scott Arfield. We can win the league this season if SG gets it right and doesn't become another 'Tinkerman'. It would be great to get a run in the Europa League but I'd rather crash out before the group stages and win the league. End of.

07 Aug 2019 18:02:38
Davis for Capitan he has got his mojo back the wee man has the minerals and the experience maybe I'm biased being from Norn Iron.

07 Aug 2019 18:33:33
I'm happy with our current captain james tavernier, to remain rangers captain. If tav were to be sold, i think scotty arfield or ryan jack should be our next captain. Both them equally, would make good rangers captains.

07 Aug 2019 22:57:49
Sorry mate, Halliday passion doesn't reflect skill. He's nowhere near good enough. Good player to have to mix it but easy to see SG building team of skill not kill.

07 Aug 2019 13:46:03
Guys does anyone else think there's still a big name signing to be had? funds supposedly available. i'm thinking that once the premier league teams finalise their squads tomorrow at close of English transfer window, there's going to be some peaches left on the sidelines. could we take advantage, could Celtic take advantage and possibly outbid us for certain targets. i get money must be tight for us as we have had no big sales and the mike Ashley sports direct fiasco, but surely if there are funds we could pick up a gem. Thoughts?

07 Aug 2019 15:21:12
I think it will depend on whether we make europa group stages.

07 Aug 2019 22:17:23
Don’t rule out Kent, I don’t care what Leeds are trying to do, I don’t thinks it’s over.

08 Aug 2019 11:18:32
Doesn't matter whether you care or not, they might sign him in spite of whether you care or not.

07 Aug 2019 13:42:26
We should take a look at what crystal palace are doing they want 80 million plus for zaha and got 60 for wan basaka brenda just got 80 for harry Maguire, they don't want to sell there top players we seem desperate to get a decent bid and sell our player on the cheap. Would be looking fo 40m for alfredo not a penny less in the current market, 27 + for tav, goldson 30 m, afrfeild 22+ m, katic 20 m, edmondson 10m +.

07 Aug 2019 14:26:01
I'll have a pint of whatever your drinking mate!

07 Aug 2019 14:42:53
You have me stuck for words boabt78!
My response to your post, will i'm quite sure explain what i think.

07 Aug 2019 14:57:24
Ridiculous post. I’m not even going to bite at that.

07 Aug 2019 15:22:03
You seem to be forgetting we're not an EPL team.

07 Aug 2019 16:00:52
Have we sold any one of our better players cheaply? That's a batsh*t crazy post!

07 Aug 2019 16:21:55
Did McGuire not play for Leicester?

08 Aug 2019 10:31:11
Funny stuff boab😕👍.

07 Aug 2019 13:22:52
See the comments from the Danish team about the good reputation of Scottish fans and that they don’t expect any bother from Rangers fans? Let’s hope that’s the case and a few morons don’t further damage the club’s reputation. We need to get better at self-policing. If you’re going, please keep an eye on your fellow fans. Let’s come away with a victory both on and off the park lads! 👍.

07 Aug 2019 12:34:22
Saw Liam Burt has joined Celtic, does this make him the first player to have played for the first team and gone directly from one side to the other?

For instance I know youth players have done this, but to my knowledge never anyone that's played in the 1st XI.

07 Aug 2019 12:57:55
Doubt he will feature i there 1st 11.

07 Aug 2019 14:33:09
burt had plenty of chances. another dylan mcgeouch.

kelly is better and younger.

well done to supercupni winners.

07 Aug 2019 15:23:07
I think from memory, Alfie Conn did similar, maybe he went to England from us and then to them. I feel Tav is suffering from Candeis departure, but that shouldn't be a problem as the training pitch should sort that out. Our problem at present is being too pernickety in the 6 yard box, we also need to start shooting from further out.

We need to play with a least one winger who is direct, Jones should start for me, and let's not be too quick to write off Hastie or Docherty, both good young players, a bit of patience needed here.

07 Aug 2019 16:55:08
Conn went to Spurs and then back to the dark side. Was a favourite of mine until that point! A kind of watered down Mo Jo in reverse lol.

07 Aug 2019 17:32:55
irvger, I agree with your comments regarding the 6 yard box/ penalty area, we see other teams shooting from distance and getting results from it, back of the net or tap ins from rebounds. I would love to see our midfielders having a crack from outside the box.

07 Aug 2019 18:47:19
5 of the goals the manky mob scored against st johnstone were from outside of the box. We hardly ever shoot from outside the box never mind score. We need to start having a pop.

07 Aug 2019 19:48:13
Rsfger, 5 of goals were outside box where they were given 5 yards space and more to turn and make speculative shot because Killie keeper so rotten a shot more than likely to create something whether drop, parry, corner or whatever. Killie played like they all had side bets on at bookies.

08 Aug 2019 10:39:23
He started with Celtic, came to us, now he's went back.

07 Aug 2019 11:49:19
I hope these rumours about signing skirtel aren't true. The money and high wages would be far better spent on an out and out striker. We have plenty cover in the centre of defence already.

07 Aug 2019 12:08:50
Hope its not true katic could be in the Croatia squad in a few years that boy is real talent skrtel may push him out if it happens .

07 Aug 2019 13:28:24
Skrtel seemingly in talks to sign for atalanta.

07 Aug 2019 13:47:43
If gerrard replaces katic with skrtel then gerrard needs to go👍.

07 Aug 2019 15:22:53
What about replacing katic with helander coldo?

07 Aug 2019 18:07:41
Different scenario Paul. We needed a 4th centre back when we signed helander, skrtel would be overkill and would all but end someone's career at the club.

07 Aug 2019 18:35:59
Agreed boli. but with gerrard last year sayin goldson his number 1 centre half (even tho i know think he's potentially the worst) i can see us shelling out that cash on helander to sit on the bench.

07 Aug 2019 22:22:17
Katic could have a massive year. He’s always looked decent for me and so far he’s a standout player.

08 Aug 2019 10:37:53
Is helander better paul? I have seen him play once. Katic on form is currently the best CB we have just now. Need to wait and see how helander gets on before that decision is made. 👍.

07 Aug 2019 10:50:25
Starting to question the teams signing policy, apparently skirtel is very close to joining. I feel like we've taken a step back from the end of last season which finally saw a settled side who understood each others style of play. Gerrard seems to have rocked the boat a little too far and I fear it will take some time as to where we see the same level of performance.

07 Aug 2019 11:52:00
Bryan1978 I have yet to see you post something positive on these pages. Lighten up for christ sake. You are starting to sound like a doom merchant.

07 Aug 2019 13:05:21
My posts are always a reflection and my own opinion of the current situation mate. I'm sorry if that comes across negative but it is what it is. Do you disagree with the comment?

07 Aug 2019 13:25:38
maybe a bit early in the season to make a judgement on the team. Can't see what skirtel will bring to the team. Plus he'll be on a big wage. Does the potential signing of skirtel mean goldson or katic are getting a transfer?

07 Aug 2019 14:34:05
Brian1978, yes I do profoundly disagree with the comment.

07 Aug 2019 16:05:01
Time will tell. I'll always stay honest with my own thoughts on the team, I maybe pessimistic but I can only speak on what I see.

07 Aug 2019 09:53:41
Bournemouth have signed harry Wilson on loan 2.5M fee he has more chance getting into the Liverpool squad then Kent does so why are Liverpool refusing to loan out Kent?

07 Aug 2019 11:05:06
Because they think Wilson has a future at the club. Kent is now 22 and they’ve made a call on him, so trying to take in some money. Common sense.

07 Aug 2019 11:13:04
Liverpool don't need the 10M for Kent f@ck they made 10x times that last season with CL money so why not sell for 6M or so get him off the books and still make a bit of money this hard ball stuff makes no sense its not like there Dundee or Celtic penny pinching for there players they won't miss Kent .

07 Aug 2019 11:50:19
Jim, Liverpool run the club properly and like a business and do you expect them to sell Kent for peanuts?

07 Aug 2019 12:46:59
Jim, the rich don’t get rich by giving hand outs. It’s the same for big clubs. And when folk say “oh well they should just do Stevie G a favour”, it doesn’t work like that. Football clubs are a business at the end of the day.

07 Aug 2019 13:19:58
Jim, it’s called financial fair play. That’s why they want a big fee.

07 Aug 2019 13:20:57
Wagsman Wilson one month older than Kent, fact is Kent is not standard Liverpool require.

07 Aug 2019 13:45:14
Thank god you don't run a Business Jim09

You are literally saying Liverpool should throw away £4M. I think their accounts department would have a few words to say.

The youth system and the associated sales and loans from the top clubs in England are a big percentage of the new Business model.

The big clubs regularly send out dozens youth players on loan to smaller clubs and can ask for £1m+ a season. Eventually they make a decision on these youth guys, Kent and Wilson are a great example, Wilson has proven in the championship which is harder league than the SPL, so let's send him out on loan at a higher level than he played last year, Ryan Kent is now obviously not going to cut it in the EPL, but they now they can get anything up to about £10m plus sell on fees for him. Regardless, they're constantly making money out their youth system. There's no way they'll just go. "Aye ok since its you Stevie G, we'll give you a 40% discount, mates rates"

07 Aug 2019 10:25:14
We are all hurting as our expectations for last season did not materialise and feels like the same thing happening year upon year. Steve has a great chance to show what he can do this season as the squad should be settled in by now.

We don't have the cash to compete with the manks financially but looking at our squad we have the players if properly managed could get us there.

I for one have noticed for years now (regardless of who is in charge) that when we are in front we usually fall asleep and concede goals. We never go in for the kill against the 6 top of the league clubs so let's hope things change this season as my heart was in my mouth again against killie.

07 Aug 2019 13:05:05
The reason we don't go in for the kill is because we lack a cutting edge and we simply don't create enough chances to kill off opponents. Attacking a team with 2 full backs just don't cut it.

07 Aug 2019 13:31:32
we have played 4 European games and unbeaten. Played our first league game and won. Our squad should be settled? we've added 5-6 first team squad members. We have (so far) kept key first team players. what's not to like?

07 Aug 2019 14:06:21
Was just realy pointing out my heart was in my mouth again against killie and was fearing the worst mrgrumpy. (who didnae feel the same? ) .

07 Aug 2019 14:14:10
mrgrumpy, I have Just read Walters comments and looks like he has much the same opinion as myself.

Review Of The Day 7th August 2019

07 Aug 2019 07:39:01
{Ed's Note - Ed001 has posted a new article entitled, Review Of The Day 7th August 2019

06 Aug 2019 23:17:57
Still think we need another striker as back up think we should take a put oan brophy or cosgrove.

07 Aug 2019 00:31:03
Geez peace with that chat.

07 Aug 2019 07:36:09
We should be aiming higher than that NN10, regarding a striker! Wouldn't mind charlie austin if we could maybe get him on loan from southampton for this, the last year of his contract, with a permanent deal at the end of the season. It would make perfect sense to me.
Austin would score goals with ease up here.

07 Aug 2019 10:02:00
No disrespect intended mate, but we should be setting our sights higher than the likes of Brophy, cosgrove etc. They’re a big hit at much, much smaller clubs with little expectation, playing for us is a much taller order.

SGL I have to agree, As I have replied to a post about Austin before, My neighbour who is a Southampton supporter said that Charlie Austin would tear up the Scottish Premiership, But said he has a bad attitude. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🇦🇺.

Brophy and cosgrove shot down but plenty are wet with the idea of shankland. Neither are, will or ever be good enough. 👍.

I would interested to see Cosgorve in our team in certain games. It would Weaken Aberdeen and give us a body with a big heed to bounce the ball off. How much do you think Cosgrove is worth and or what do think the sheep would want for him. I think, between 1.5-3 million but the sheep would want between 5-10 so probably wouldn't happen anyway.
