Rumours in local press here, that coventry are interested in Barron?
1.) 18 May 2024 15:20:11
Believe Barron will be a Rangers player next season.
2.) 18 May 2024 16:03:28
My star I’m not o inched
Been text a name, African winger Mofokeng. Done deal.
3.) 18 May 2024 16:08:53
I’ve heard from someone I know who is a Sheep and has contacts within them and Barron will not be coming to us and that the boy wants to play in a better league, this guy I know coukd just be spouting nonsense as he despises us.
4.) 18 May 2024 16:24:54
Mofor-king goals please.
5.) 18 May 2024 16:27:26
John he could be a good signing mate, see a few top clubs are looking at him.
6.) 18 May 2024 16:46:08
I believe Mofokeng makes Yilmaz look tall ? imagine them being our left side. We’ll get battered in SPL.
7.) 18 May 2024 16:46:48
Seems to be a few different stories around about Barron. I guess we'll find out in the next few days once Aberdeen's season is over where he will be going.
8.) 18 May 2024 16:55:40
John, can you translate? ?
'My star I’m not o inched'
9.) 18 May 2024 17:19:50
His name sounds like what celtic supports said when mo signed for us.
10.) 18 May 2024 17:21:38
Mofokeng was put up as a rumour 5 days ago on Goal. com.
11.) 18 May 2024 17:21:50
convinced I think he meant.
12.) 18 May 2024 18:01:44
I’m not convinced, Scott.
13.) 18 May 2024 18:47:25
I'm reading he's only 5f 3 inches. certainly not going to score too many headers.
14.) 18 May 2024 19:53:44
I think the malian winger adama traore who currently plays for Ferencvaros looks like a better option John, and we're linked with him also. ? He has a terrific goal scoring record for a winger ??.
15.) 18 May 2024 20:11:36
Bornabear, yilmaz 5ft 9. not exactly a midget.
16.) 18 May 2024 20:55:04
Walter fits us perfectly has missed 25% of season through injury.
17.) 18 May 2024 21:16:07
Young and raw skill full positive player
Here’s hoping he makes the step up
Type of signing that’s a no brainer.
18.) 18 May 2024 22:37:08
Paul86 Yilmaz comes in at just under 5ft 7in.
19.) 19 May 2024 00:25:18
No danger is Yilmaz 5ft9. Not even in high heels ?.
20.) 19 May 2024 03:38:10
Wouldnt worry about his height, Literally in an African league they probably have the same amount of hammer throwers as our league.
21.) 19 May 2024 08:51:25
Fifa, uefa, transfermarkt etc etc all have him in at 1.74 (5ft9)
22.) 19 May 2024 13:53:24
Yilmaz in high heels lol going to chuckle and think that every time I see him now cheers blue ??.
21 Apr 2024 20:03:56
Don't know if we are looking at o'hare of coventry, there were rumours that we were earlier this season. Well he had an excellent game against man utd today, a busy midfielder always looking to push and run forwards and never looked out of place against them. On a free, would be a good signing. We wait and see!
1.) 22 Apr 2024 08:02:02
Looks a great player who's very versatile. Loves to play forward and always wants the ball. I hope we sign him, he's an upgrade on hagi.
2.) 22 Apr 2024 08:07:25
Sounds like same thing folk said about dowell bacuna and similar signings
Sorry but an attacking midfielder with a poor goals record is hardly exciting prospect
Need to sign better.
3.) 22 Apr 2024 09:10:06
Whats your record.
4.) 22 Apr 2024 09:19:44
Gofor, I agree but we also need depth in the squad, especially in the attacking areas for next season. If he's on a free got nothing to lose really.
5.) 22 Apr 2024 09:20:11
GFB if you base signings on stats then you'll never sign anyone at rangers.
Stats ruin football.
Use your eyes. He's an excellent player.
6.) 22 Apr 2024 09:24:37
Gofor O'hare would be some signing for Rangers mate, but can't really see us getting him, be many top end of championship teams and a few lower epl will be wanting him, reckon he plays epl football next season.
7.) 22 Apr 2024 09:55:15
I think he would be a good signing but I think he will be in epl next season.
8.) 22 Apr 2024 11:19:43
The manager has a a load of duds to shift first before he can get anything in, the club are chucking wages down a bottomless pit.
There are a couple at Dundee and Cochrane at Hearts I would like and as a few have said possibly 1 or 2 at Killie, just got to move at least the same number on, possibly more.
9.) 22 apr 2024 12:55:12
do you think pc knows he must only sign players who score 3 a week.
10.) 22 Apr 2024 16:05:53
Watched Coventry a few times this season and Ohare was their stand out player, been on bench a few times last couple of months but only because of contract situation, their big striker Simms who was on loan at Hearts a couple of seasons ago is banging the goals in looks a different player for them.
11.) 22 Apr 2024 17:57:28
Do you have any stats to back that up TJN?
12.) 22 Apr 2024 21:02:03
Stats to back what up?
I literally said if you're looking for stat padders we won't sign anyone.
Presuming you didn't watch the Coventry United game? That's evidence enough how good he is.
He'll go to the Premier league and we'll have missed another great player.
13.) 23 Apr 2024 16:55:56
Sorry mystar but you talk up everyone and are far too positive and maybe a bit more perspective I tried to say to you at start last season about dowell and injuries I was proved correct
I said to folk about raskin not being much better than a decent spl player so far I don’t think he’s proved to be better done very little at rangers
People watch oh are one game against united and jump on bandwagon he’s having a decent season I agree on that but he has his injuries couple series ones previously his team play mostly on break and not on top of teams like rangers are in Scotland
I said lammers had something and had to be played as a cf to properly asses the guy appears to be bearing true although I still feel he’s a bit too soft for Scottish football
I stand by dessers for me is not a first choice cf he’s done more than enough to earn a squad place though someone we can rotate with a better forward i can still see Clement opting for a new striker though if we have the funds
So I don’t just say I don’t think someone good enough for sake of it I look into injuries game time stats and view performances and other things.
14.) 23 Apr 2024 19:51:57
Coopersdad- you have watched The Sky Blues a few times, and having watched the game v Man Utd - Victor Torp impressed.
Do you rate him?
15.) 23 Apr 2024 22:33:53
Best Coventry player this season gofor, again epl next season you watch and see ?.
16.) 25 Apr 2024 17:15:19
Given the number of players leaving that will really include Goldson and Lundstrum and possibly Tav then I believe that we need two new centre backs, a central midfield player and a striker as a bare minimum. All need to be a lot better than what we currently have.
08 Feb 2024 19:48:30
Were we appealing against sterling's red card today? Any news on it?
1.) 08 Feb 2024 20:34:16
Appeal was rejected. Two game ban.
2.) 08 Feb 2024 20:45:05
Rejected. Fast track decision.
3.) 08 Feb 2024 20:50:40
We have appealed it yeah.
4.) 08 Feb 2024 21:06:35
Lost the appeal.
5.) 08 Feb 2024 21:07:01
The appeal failed.
6.) 08 Feb 2024 21:51:29
We were always going to lose that appeal. Referees in media lately saying not getting support from Hampden and a ref finally sticks to their on field decisions
decision. All politics but he misses Ayr and Ross County I think so we’ll cope without and move on.
I said it yesterday and say it again, never a red and ref stuck to that decision out of arrogance.
7.) 08 Feb 2024 23:03:22
Always had to appeal it to be fair but never thought they would let him off, two games that we should be ok without him tho, newsboys should get a start on Saturday still keep a strong line up tho until game is won then get subs on, time to get used to burying teams and get games won as quick as possible, win every game up to split should be enough to wrap up title.
8.) 08 Feb 2024 23:12:43
Feel for Sterling though I’d imagine he would have been starting on Saturday so although we will cope without him it’s a kick in the teeth for him personally.
9.) 09 Feb 2024 00:20:52
People need to take blue tints off he's lunged and landed on boys foot easily a red and no way the appeal was going to work.
We should be compiling the events of season though desser/ roofe goal
The handball last game blatant decisions that seem to keep going in celtics favour the obvious media campaign against rangers with penalties even though celtic have had more in league and conceded none and keep getting soft decisions.
10.) 09 Feb 2024 03:28:32
Red card every day of the week.
11.) 09 Feb 2024 04:01:35
That wasn’t a red and it wasn’t a lunge he slipped studs weren’t showing either. It’s one thing I can’t be accused of is blue tinted specs.
12.) 09 Feb 2024 06:48:31
I was told I obviously have never played football at any level if I thought that was a red. Didn't realise you were only allowed an opinion if you had played.
Storm there was a slip but I've looked at it over and over and the slip happens at the same time as contact is made, it didn't cause the contact, it did mean he followed
through and made it look worse. It
was a silly challenge that didn't need to be made in that area of the pitch and he gave the ref an excuse to flash the red.
13.) 09 Feb 2024 08:07:20
Yeah the chosen few on here that have played the game nonsense Jfm63. don't know why they are on a fans forum in the 1st place has they clearly know more than the rest of us. Guys that played the game 25 years ago know very little of the game now as its completely different to when they played. The other one that's appearing a lot on here a lot is the Clement knows better chat. Yes of course he does but this is a fans forum for fans to debate all things Rangers.
14.) 09 Feb 2024 08:55:11
Thought it was a red personally. Easily meets the first criteria of endangering an opponent and excessive force. Could easily meet the second criteria as well (though I don't think it was a lunge I think it was a slip - either way, the lunge isn't required, the excessive force and endangering an opponent criteria is enough) .
Actual IFAB Rules wording:
Serious foul play
A tackle or challenge that endangers the safety of an opponent or uses excessive force or brutality must be sanctioned as serious foul play.
Any player who lunges at an opponent in challenging for the ball from the front, from the side or from behind using one or both legs, with excessive force or endangers the safety of an opponent is guilty of serious foul play.
15.) 09 Feb 2024 09:27:18
I'm a qualified referee and tbh I don't think it's a red, however I can also see why the ref did give red in real time due to speed sterling went in at. I'm surprised he didn't overturn it at the monitor tho.
16.) 09 Feb 2024 10:03:57
Endangers the safety of an opponent?
Standing on someones toe? Both feet on the ground?
I know what guys i wouldn't want playing for my team or having my back, wow.
Are we now penalising players for being bigger, stronger and faster?
If that's a red card then there is going to be 3 or 4 red card a game.
Celtic vs Hibs, Ralston goes through the Hibs player in the build up to the 2nd penalty, yes he wins the ball but has slide in two feet off the ground and put the Hibs player up in the air.
So is it ok to endanger a player if you win the ball?
17.) 09 Feb 2024 10:09:00
As much as I would rather we weren't as lightweight in todays game. That is a red card all day long by todays standards and had I seen it in any other game I would have expected him to stick to his decision.
18.) 09 Feb 2024 10:58:49
Ally with the dictionary definition of blue tinted specs there.
He was neither standing nor had two feet on the ground, Sterling literally slid right through him (though obviously unintentionally) and wiped him out after he stood on his toe.
If he hadn't slipped and gone through him, he wouldn't have been sent off IMO, but he did so he was.
And "winning the ball" means nothing in the modern game, no. If you win the ball with excessive force endangering an opponent you're walking. We've seen it multiple times.
19.) 09 Feb 2024 11:14:51
At the game I thought it was 100% red card all day however after having seen it back although it was careless, definitely only a yellow.
20.) 09 Feb 2024 12:23:10
Never a red.
21.) 09 Feb 2024 12:50:50
It was never a red but the appeals committee were nevr going to over rule it . If Cifuentes`ordering off for the small tap on the Dundee player was upheld then this one was always going to be the same. We should be okay for the next two games without him, take it on the chin and move on. No offence to the " qualified ref" who thought it was a red, we are watching qualified Grade 1 refs getting decisions badly wrong every week throughout the league, not something to boast about mate.
22.) 09 Feb 2024 15:05:38
I said i didn't think it was a red wsl, if that was aimed at me. What i said was in real time I can see why ref thought it was, I also said I was surprised it wasn't downgraded when ref had chance to see it again on monitor.
23.) 09 Feb 2024 15:45:57
Sorry but if that's anyone on a rangers player your all calling red card.
24.) 13 Feb 2024 14:12:11
I'm honestly not!

I know it was against a 5th tier team, but we looked better 2nd half when we played faster. The young lads didn't do themselves any harm either. Different set up this Thursday, up and at 'em Rangers!
1.) 19 Jan 2025 17:13:16
Like what is seen briefly from Rice more so Curtis.
2.) 19 Jan 2025 17:14:19
I personally think rice is a better all round player than Barron. We need to give this kid more chances.
3.) 19 Jan 2025 17:17:51
Curtis showed up very well imo, these kids must be selected b4 dowell lawrence and matondo.
4.) 19 Jan 2025 17:31:53
Thought Rice and Curtis did very well. Lovelace didn't do too much but would like to see him get some more game time.
5.) 19 Jan 2025 17:36:45
both looked very good against lower level opposition albeit. but both will improve as well and have a future at the club hopefully.
6.) 19 Jan 2025 17:54:08
Hard to judge against part time players but agree Curtis' movement was really good and he always looked to play forward. Looked pretty athletic too.
7.) 19 Jan 2025 18:18:20
I thought all 3 youngsters did okay today, Lovelace was also prominent, Curtess is certainly an excellent looking player for the future.
8.) 19 Jan 2025 18:21:49
Wouldn't be hard Paul Barron looks as if he needs a good sleep.
9.) 19 Jan 2025 18:36:22
I liked the look of that young Curtis boy, looks decent from that cameo role.
10.) 19 Jan 2025 18:37:16
Would have Curtis in place of Matondo and rice in place of Dowell all day and save hundreds of thousands a season on wages.
11.) 19 Jan 2025 18:41:17
Or he's on the junk?.
12.) 19 Jan 2025 18:53:18
That's one of the worst performances from Barron so far is a Rangers jersey. I forgot he was playing until about 30 minutes in.
13.) 19 Jan 2025 18:53:45
John, completely agree reg young players playing before Lawrence etc.
14.) 19 Jan 2025 19:35:03
Positive from today's match was the performances of the young players which augurs well for the future.
Might save us a small fortune in transfer fees and wages.
15.) 19 Jan 2025 19:38:00
Agree that Curtis looks a real prospect based on the showing today.
16.) 19 Jan 2025 19:44:46
Ffs fork that's a bit strong after your performance on the live chat as well ?.
17.) 19 Jan 2025 19:55:34
First time seeing young Curtis, looks an intelligent player, sees a pass, not afraid to have a go at goal either but it was his movement off the ball that impressed most.
Coaches seem to be doing a good job with this lad.
Hopefully Bailey Rice can get weaned into the team over the remainder off the season tae, warms the heart to see the young boys get game time and do well irrespective of the opposition.
18.) 19 Jan 2025 21:27:02
Aye, it was Storm, but it was meant to be tongue in cheek, think I've been " debating" too much this week?, oh and s n i g g e r means to laugh, not racist ya ? stirrer.
19.) 19 Jan 2025 23:12:21
Barron played decent today, don't know what game you where at/ watched?
20.) 20 Jan 2025 00:59:48
Young lads done well, liked Curtis didn't fart around and got shots away early.
10 Jan 2025 11:21:25
Week after week we see supposedly inferior defenders in other teams blocking our crosses into the box, and their central defenders clearing with ease many of the balls that we do get into the box. why are our defenders incapable of doing this? We rarely concede a 'good' goal, it's all just sloppy defending, what do they do 8n training?
02 Jan 2025 18:05:03
Wow! Makeshift defence, I feared the worst I must admit, listening on radio all commentators kept on about how good we were, especially when we never had the ball. We need to do that consistently now. We play well on Thursday's! Great start to new year, off to the fridge now!
27 Dec 2024 18:05:18
We continually play with two holding midfielders, which many think we don't need in the spl. I would like to see one holding ( barron? ) and try raskin in the number 10 role? Thoughts fellow bears?
1.) 27 Dec 2024 18:35:58
Raskin is not a 10.
2.) 27 Dec 2024 18:36:39
Raskin is a terrier like midfielder in the mould of Stuart McCall but never in the same league. He’s getting better but still a liability on the ball and makes a 3 point turn to change direction. He can’t beat a man, has no vision and can’t shoot. He’s not a ten. Hagi is our best in that position by a mile. Barron is a good wee player but probably behind Raskin right now and I don’t think both work in the same team.
Also I don’t actually see the need for a ten. Although I’d always have hagi in my team wherever across the middle to front. It’s a highly special-ist position and few teams actually play with an out and out ten. Even Celtic don’t. We need better midfielders than Raskin if we are to improve. Ball retention in our midfield is criminal.
3.) 27 Dec 2024 18:52:18
Sorry scotty dog, raskin is a no.6 totally mate and that's where he should be playing and isn't a no.10.
Like i've said before raskin is the best no.6 at ibrox and the best in scottish football for me ?.
4.) 27 Dec 2024 18:56:24
Don't agree with you in the slightest regarding nico raskin Glasgowrangersgooner? What are you watching my friend ??.
5.) 27 Dec 2024 18:56:58
We should be building our team around nico raskin imo.
6.) 27 Dec 2024 19:34:30
Sir Walter smith…I like Raskin and he’s improving but he gives the ball away too often. He basically assisted maedas goal in the final. His all out effort and passion is great but midfielders who can’t keep possession aren’t good enough.
7.) 27 Dec 2024 20:04:40
Look at raskin's stats my friend, yes that happened in the cup final but he very rarely gives the ball away and always finds space and get us forward as he's always looking to play the ball forward he's a superb midfielder as far as i'm concerned and i totally don't agree with you gooner.
8.) 27 Dec 2024 20:13:35
Raskin has been excellent since he came back into the team and it showed yesterday the difference he makes to the team when he plays. He doesn`t give the ball away all the time and just because he made a mistake in the final doesn`t back that ridiculous statement up. He is the only No. 6 we have got, its not Barrons best position, and Raskin is definitely not a No 10 . Why do fans keep wanting to play players in strange positions?
There is no point too in comparing Raskin to the likes of McCall, he is a young man with a long way to go and we need to accept we aren`t bringing in players of past standards . We don`t have the money and we don`t have the clout in football circles anymore.
9.) 27 Dec 2024 20:56:52
Really gooner? The we man is going from strength to strength. This is really the first time he's had any kind of consistency to prove himself due to injuries etc and imo he's certainly doing that. I think there's so much more to come from him, the more he plays the better he will become. The more his all round game comes round the less he will give the ball away.
10.) 27 Dec 2024 21:33:37
Raskin is probably a No6 but definitely not a No10.
Play Danilo just off the main striker.
11.) 28 Dec 2024 08:29:57
we haven't been playing 2 DMs either. Raskin sits deep and the other two are further forward with Danilo or Bajrami playing in behind at times in the number 10 role.
26 Dec 2024 20:15:32
We are not brilliant when considered to be at " full strength " and clement thinks he can " rest players "? Toothless up front, slow as hell for 50 minutes or more, I have no idea what clements tactics or instructions are, we'll see what his excuses are tonight.
1.) 26 Dec 2024 20:48:11
Was a blunder to rest we raskin been our best player for weeks, missed loads of football and still young so shouldn't be needing rest just yet. Anyway we are going to have many more blips like this, it's a shame as we were really starting to show signs that things are starting to gel, then a set back like that is just gutting tbh. Still we follow ?.
2.) 27 Dec 2024 10:10:52
Boy Blue you are so right. we need to have more windows to allow PC to get a squad who can challenge.
Scotty why is it PCs tactics and instructions aren't right when we lose but when we win or play well (with the same tactics and instructions) he doesn't have a clue. oh and at half time he was not happy and tore team off a strip and they played better; that wasnt just Raskin and Danilo.
05 Jan 2025 19:13:35
His profile shows him as a midfielder? Rather have a centre half or two !
26 Nov 2024 19:42:58
He's hardly been near Leeds team this season, it'll take until next summer for clement to " settle him in " strange country etc etc!
24 Nov 2024 13:38:29
The way we are going, I don't think 3rd is a foregone conclusion either.
03 Nov 2024 14:37:25
If one "isn't keen on scottish football " why come here for a trial?
31 Oct 2024 08:10:29
Phil, we have "wide men" that cut inside to congested areas, we have midfielders who continually pass it back, and defenders who are allergic to stopping crosses, and then play tippy tippy in their own box when under pressure, do you not see a problem? If only he would answer us instead of the same answers after every game!
04 Feb 2025 17:55:35
SWS I believe he has 8 goals and 9 assists this season against the same teams we face, so looking forward to seeing him in our shirt. He obviously has an eye for goals with late runs into box!
02 Feb 2025 10:31:13
Athole, couldn't agree more, we've needed that for years!
24 Jan 2025 12:43:15
I agree, but our midfielders have to continually cover for our non-existent full backs!
24 Jan 2025 10:27:45
MPH, well summed up, our full backs for years are always caught out of position. I initially thought it was a good idea t9 have yilmaz in front of jefte, ut he never stayed wide, always coming inside, into trouble, and the same in second half, drifting inside and sauntering back when he was right back. Our mids are always playing at defenders because of this. I don't know what to make of bajrami, he's certainly not the chance creating number 10 that we need. Big philmay just have to pick ore youngstersnow with these injuries piling up.
11 Jan 2025 18:56:55
Good points there Coop, the minimum every season must be the belief that we can beat everyone else, then old firm games take care of themselves. At the moment we are wondering every week if we have enough to beat these so called lesser teams, and clement doesn't seem to get these expectations, and seems to have little idea what to do when games go against us?!
