Dutch Media coming out and commenting that Utrecht could easily afford the 3-4m euros being asked for Lammers - but that he'd need t take a 50% pay cut to move there. This Aris is a club i'd not heard much if. And I couldn't help wondering what risk there was they couldn't afford an obligation in due course. they seem to be a top 6 club over in Greece, but don't seem to spend a lot. There have been signings of c £3m (circa one person season) in recent seasons though, so this looks like it could be Thier record signing if the obligation is true (I'm still thinking I might be a translation issue and it's an option rather than an obligation) .

In a wierd way I can understand a loan with an obligation to buy. It's really just a means of deferring the cost in to next year's FFP calc, and in practice is the same as paying the fee for him now in any other terms.

I do wonder what kind of fee we could have got from him if he's going there. His wages must be heavy for them this might lower the amount they'd give us for him.

Realistically he's been one of our better players in pre-season (maybe not hard) . He's home grown, isn't regularly injured, and has a good attitude. I think he's a useful squad player myself.

I think a big part of the issue is our wage bill. We have a number of players earning £1m-£1.5m per year that we want to shift. We can not afford to spend the cash we have available until they are moved on, because we cannot risk spending the transfer budget AND having them stay.

Don't think so, but The league is now finished there, so I think they are able to sign players all the way up to 31 March 2024, so I think there's some potential for that to still happen if he goes to Cruzerio or similar.

Absolutely agree Deboer, the're better value to be had in Scandinavia where we can pickup guys for similar / less fees that have more experience of playing in teams that win and play in Europe.
