I've stayed pretty quite on manager
What I'm led to believe
Loputegui rejected to meet us
We met gerrard in Paris
We met rose in Munich
There is massive interest in lampard from the 49s.
No one has been offered the post
Panel is stiensson and Stewart, and an outsider from 49s recruitment, so all them moaning about our bord, they r not making the decision yet.
1.) 10 May 2025 17:42:17
Cheers for info John.
2.) 10 May 2025 17:42:41
So it's Frank you bet then and he is still in play offs.
3.) 10 May 2025 17:43:02
I would take Lampard over Gerrard. I don't like the idea of going backwards when we're about to start an exciting new era at Rangers.
4.) 10 May 2025 17:49:57
Very interesting John. Good information mate.
5.) 10 May 2025 17:51:25
Clearly the manager in a job yiu refered to was lampard John
Of the 3 names surely if affordable you'd get rose but if 49s were consulted on SD I don't see why it's diff on a manager unless there's some resistance on takeover John.
6.) 10 May 2025 17:53:42
Also why would there be 2 representatives of 49s on the team looking for a manager if 2 of them have no say. Don't doubt your info John but it does seem strange. John how are you recovering. Yiu getting stronger by the day I hope.
7.) 10 May 2025 18:06:07
As said, it's Gerrard and it always was.
8.) 10 May 2025 18:07:24
Would take Lampard over Gerrard.
Proven track record of developing Youth.
9.) 10 May 2025 18:08:01
I for 1 would be happy with Lampard over a lot of other names I've seen
Although he's had a pretty up and down managerial career I think in fairness to him he has faced difficult circumstances at Chelsea and Everton, done well at Chelsea 1st time round with top4 finish and got to FA CUP final @ Everton he was up against it from the off with FFP.
10.) 10 May 2025 18:10:39
Sorry did you not say Gerrard wasn't on the list before?
11.) 10 May 2025 18:14:12
Yes John that's the 3 I listed a week or 2 ago. Some told me it was nonsense. Interesting few weeks ahead….
12.) 10 May 2025 18:15:22
Lampard is 66/ 1 watch his price drop.
13.) 10 May 2025 18:26:29
Im both bord and board get the manager in place. Enough.
14.) 10 May 2025 18:27:58
Yes storm it is lampard was 66/ 1 yesterday
One Walter why would u het rose, I've clearly stated lampard is 49s preferred option, where do I or anyone say 49s have no say, they r leading search for manager, and the identify thelwell.
Ps has stated the panel doing interviews will make a recommendation to thelwell who will make the appointment, all seems very clear to me.
15.) 10 May 2025 18:28:48
Recovering really well, but no football this week.
16.) 10 May 2025 18:29:20
I would have thought that Thelwell would have had a part to play as he will have to work with the manager. I am happy to wait for the official announcement anyway.
17.) 10 May 2025 18:35:44
Very interesting post, John. On that basis, there won't be any announcement anytime soon.
18.) 10 May 2025 18:39:14
John nice to know the info I heard about Gerrard has real merit to it then.
what do you make of Lampard John?
if it was indeed him infact if indeed any of Gerrard or lampard I reckon fans are going to have to be patient again and let them build a successful squad I think either or with the right back room team and the right recruitment I think we could have Ibrox rocking again and be a right force once more I never did give Gerrard the recognition he deserved given how our transfers went and how it took time to build a squad
I honestly think him or lampard would do very well given the time to do it.
19.) 10 May 2025 18:42:17
John i honestly would take frank lampard and think he'd be a good appointment for us, if indeed he was to be appointed our next manager ???.
20.) 10 May 2025 18:42:45
I would still like us to go down the German route, but can see the attraction to the 49rs in lampard and Stevie g, the main one would definitely be their names, pulling power for players and inward investment.
21.) 10 May 2025 18:49:10
John unless I. misread think I misread your post John. As far as Lampard is concerned I'd assume not happened because of playoffs but time will tell yiur 1 of many. postetz who've said a diff manager so I hope it's not lampard i'd rather Rose or gerrsrd.
22.) 10 May 2025 18:54:17
John i didn't say you'd bet Rose is pointed out imo of the 3 names we are interested in if affordable i'd go get Rose. lampard I just don't get i'd rather SG he may have a point to. prove.
23.) 10 May 2025 18:57:11
Stig, I'm not a lampard fan, but understand why the Americans would like him.
I understand they did not expect Coventry still to be going for premier league, imo if he achieves that he is not leaving for us.
24.) 10 May 2025 19:13:43
One Walter if I'd to pick one off three it would be lampard, if he goes up with Coventry honk I'd prefer rose
Respect your choice.
25.) 10 May 2025 19:16:28
John who would you like as manager.
26.) 10 May 2025 19:36:59
I would honestly be happy with any of the 3 you mention John ie. Steven Gerrard, Frank Lampard and Marco Rose ?John, hypothetically speaking if Coventry City fail to go up via the play offs, do you think lampard would accept the Rangers manager's job if we came calling for him? ?.
27.) 10 May 2025 19:39:08
No need to worry about that John, Coventry's season finishes on Tuesday.
28.) 10 May 2025 20:29:46
U may be right my star.
29.) 10 May 2025 20:32:58
Scott i know you said you prefer frank lampard over steven gerrard as our new manager but let me firstly state i wouldn't mind which one we appointed as i like both? However let me add the gerrard knows what it takes as Rangers manager because he's been our manager for 3 and a half years, so has the upper hand on that score, but that's not me saying frank lampard can't be very good for us ? Very intriguing/ interesting indeed ?.
30.) 10 May 2025 20:49:13
Sunderland are favourites to progress after winning first leg 1-2 away to Coventry.
31.) 10 May 2025 20:54:57
Lampard does like us.
32.) 10 May 2025 21:19:09
So does Steven Gerrard like us Wilkinssscreamer ???.
33.) 10 May 2025 22:28:03
John did you not say that the manager you thought was being talked of didn't excite you. I can see why given some of the other names being mentioned
also mair turns and claims of I told you so from others on here the I care to count ?.
34.) 11 May 2025 03:47:00
Scott
I'm with you. Think FL way more proven manager than SG.
35.) 11 May 2025 06:07:00
Angus go and get a game of trivial pursuit pal ?.
07 May 2025 15:04:41
Ehl u picking up on extension for interim management team off four months?
1.) 08 May 2025 10:42:15
Hope not.
2.) 08 May 2025 10:43:23
Surely not John.
3.) 08 May 2025 10:52:01
Not hearing this John. Been told manager will be appointed following the conclusion of the season.
Would be surprised if it's sooner.
4.) 08 May 2025 14:43:58
Jesus.
05 May 2025 21:24:21
Ffs critchley in Glasgow tonight.
1.) 05 May 2025 21:27:57
? ?.
2.) 05 May 2025 21:28:40
Neil?
3.) 05 May 2025 21:37:42
That's the one still blue.
4.) 05 May 2025 21:39:21
Gerrards assistant ?.
5.) 05 May 2025 21:53:12
Right no more meds for John???.
6.) 05 May 2025 21:57:11
Gerrard with warnock as number 2 and critchley as coach? The dream team of all dream teams. With a midfield 3 or barron rice cameron its the ultimate dream teams all round for us we are winning every treble for the next 5 years ???.
7.) 05 May 2025 21:59:39
Fork, my source is same person who said Gio and pc we're getting jobs, I personally can't see anything in it.
8.) 05 May 2025 22:18:30
Lol no worries bud?.
9.) 05 May 2025 22:27:07
He was Gerrard's assistant at Villa for a while. The plot thickens….
10.) 05 May 2025 22:34:48
It's for the academy role.
11.) 05 May 2025 22:36:55
John your source sounds very credible, did he say he was up on business?
12.) 05 May 2025 22:04:46
If he was even remotely considered for our managers job it would mean the take over had fell through.
13.) 05 May 2025 23:08:44
I apologies John for my earlier comment I thought you was joking that's why I put the fishing emoji.
14.) 05 May 2025 22:21:09
No thanks to Critchley but he's worked under Gerrard twice now at LFC youth and one of his assistants at Villa.
It's Stevie's job to decline.
15.) 06 May 2025 06:39:46
Not been told any different Lemmiwinks
My friend still maintaining it's Gerrard
If it was And he Brought back Beale as part of deal I honesty don't know how I would feel about that I don't want Beale anywhere near the club
Hopefully no one that silly.
16.) 06 May 2025 07:00:54
Very underwhelming if Gerrard comes back, IMO.
This takeover should be bringing a whole new era to Rangers, not going back to the past.
17.) 06 May 2025 07:10:11
Gave up trying to work it out Stig?.
18.) 06 May 2025 07:44:49
Yeah it is boring up until we see who it actually is I honestly hope it's a seasoned manager who everyone will be like
Yeah that's the one we need and everyone is excited about it
I know EHl said we have identified players but I'll keep asking I wonder if players will want to know who the management team are before they decide?
19.) 06 May 2025 08:49:18
Alloa, no said he was in Glasgow.
20.) 06 May 2025 08:50:10
Muscat in, I took it as an assistant to someone.
21.) 06 May 2025 08:54:09
If they are people silly to bring back SG then they are silly enough to bring back Beale with him IMO.
22.) 06 May 2025 09:33:11
@ Storm
That did make me chuckle ???.
23.) 06 May 2025 10:19:03
Glasgow is a fine City "The second City of the Empire" I was also there a couple of days ago.
24.) 06 May 2025 12:40:43
Further info critchley and cathro, (not my post at ) uefa licence course Largs, talking, taking sessions.
25.) 06 May 2025 14:26:37
So rumour put to be thankfully.
However it seems that three cheers is now considered to be in with a chance for the asst managers post as he was in Glasgow. Unless TC you can give us another valid reason for you being there ?.
30 Apr 2025 16:35:09
Ibrox, Copland Ehl, anyone picking up we're going to sell Ed House, circa 15million, with a share of takings?
1.) 30 Apr 2025 16:50:36
Not heard anything John, but not really an area I'm close to.
Part of me hopes it's true and we sell it to an arm of the 49ers group.
Would really set the hares racing.
I did today hear a manager's name from inside the club for a first time - so let me know if you Guys hear any rumblings.
I expect there to be a lot of interesting chat at the game tonight.
2.) 30 Apr 2025 16:50:57
Wow! How do you feel about that? Feel it would be good but something doesn't sit right.
3.) 30 Apr 2025 16:58:23
Simple way to make money. Sell a club asset to the Major Shareholder.
4.) 30 Apr 2025 17:01:16
Who's EH?
5.) 30 Apr 2025 17:02:24
Sounds like a Chelsea move where they sold women's team to themselves and hotels etc.
6.) 30 Apr 2025 17:03:32
Not heard anything about it but we should.
A terrible decision by Bisgrove especially with needing Castore to chip in with some of the money for it.
An entertainment venue that isn't big enough to host our own POTY awards.
7.) 30 Apr 2025 17:11:54
Would that be a good idea John? As that not help with finances etc…. Instead of a quick buck? Also depends on the % we get.
8.) 30 Apr 2025 17:15:19
Would be very wise. A bisgrove disaster class.
9.) 30 Apr 2025 17:18:01
Would this be a way round ffp? ✌️✌️.
10.) 30 Apr 2025 17:35:15
Ehl any hints on the name?
11.) 30 Apr 2025 17:37:48
Feels like a failed opportunity John.
12.) 30 Apr 2025 17:42:49
EH is New Edmiston House, McMinn.
13.) 30 Apr 2025 17:54:59
Edmiston house was the brainchild of King and Bennett.
Outline planning was submitted before his grove joins rangers.
According to our acct it was funded by selling land and a 10 million loan by Bennett.
14.) 30 Apr 2025 18:00:21
That is how they'll get money in fast for the summer window, be other things as well, will be a big squad turnover.
15.) 30 Apr 2025 18:35:41
As much as I despised Bisgrove, I don't think we can blame him for EH.
Cost around £12.5m to build, sell for £15m, so once Bennett has been paid back, what does that leave? I'm guessing the £10m has interest on it?
I've said it before, and I'll say it again, EH was, and is, nothing more than a vanity project.
16.) 30 Apr 2025 18:51:01
Not necessarily mystar. Uefa are already rejected Chelseas sale of the women's team to themselves as ffp income that can be used to sign players.
Murky water.
17.) 30 Apr 2025 19:11:07
EHL, blink twice if the name wasn't Steven Gerrard!
18.) 30 Apr 2025 19:11:35
Sunshine Bennett took shares for what he was owned. Eh is solely owned by the club.
19.) 30 Apr 2025 19:11:51
EHL, did the manager's name that you heard for the first time today inside ibrox excite you mate and would he excite most of us, if he did indeed become our new manager mate ?.
20.) 30 Apr 2025 19:34:11
Raskin they'll find some way, maybe wishful thinking mate.
21.) 30 Apr 2025 19:36:04
Ehl yer a wee tease so yer getting all our man nips hard then no even a hint shame of you ;)
22.) 30 Apr 2025 19:52:59
John did the name you heard an exciting one or underwhelming?
23.) 30 Apr 2025 20:16:04
EH was and is a total waste of money and should have gone into the squad. Another example of how the previous board squander and squandered money left right and centre.
24.) 30 Apr 2025 20:21:00
Did we not make a grand profit of 200k for its first year opening?
25.) 30 Apr 2025 20:46:15
Think the best way again would be a sponsor buying the naming rights. and hopefully demolishing the "founding fathers" wall and bench abominations.
26.) 30 Apr 2025 20:51:40
You can't take the money at the time used for NEH and invest it in the squad, that's were FFP would kick in, NEH funding was outwith FFP. If 49ers bought or leased NEH from the Club as an asset then they can invest that money in the team. Exactly the same as buying the naming rights to RTC or Ibrox.
27.) 30 Apr 2025 20:52:17
Gdog it was loans that paid for it so why would it go into squad?
28.) 30 Apr 2025 21:00:50
Very good idea even if we lease it back from them on a 25yr lease! Very popular in private equity 1 of my former employers raised 250mil selling some sites off and leasing them back! Would this be the same idea John or just we pay them rent for the shop and museum, and they then run the events side?
29.) 30 Apr 2025 21:08:23
Yes John hearing edminston house to be sold as 49rs do not believe it to be able to generate enough revenue.
30.) 30 Apr 2025 21:30:27
Ehl not asking for you to disclose the managers name you have heard but is it a name that excites you if they where to become the new manager?
31.) 30 Apr 2025 21:55:09
John2561, Check Companies House documents Rangers are parent company, but Bennett still has a charge over New Edmiston House, Companies House would be notified if loan was repaid
Also Parks of Hamilton have a Commercial interest
Accounts to 30th June 2024 have still to be published.
32.) 30 Apr 2025 22:08:04
Stevie G.
33.) 30 Apr 2025 22:07:46
Inigo Perez?
34.) 01 May 2025 07:00:34
Rehab, benne yay no longer has any charge on anything at rangers. This was settled recently
Parks pay 500 k a year to sponsor EH.
35.) 01 May 2025 09:58:04
Storm, there's more than one way to skin a cat.
It was totally unnecessary at the time!
A museum or back SG after 55! I know what I wanted!
36.) 01 May 2025 16:15:33
GDog, there isn't another way to skin a cat, FFP is fairly straight forward you can't invest more than the percent of your revenue. EH was meant to be a way of increasing revenue and inturn allowing for a higher over all squad cost.
if you used the money that it cost to build in the squad we will have breached FFP simples as that. we came out of covid with less revenue without any major reduction in costs so we were close to falling foul. SG caused a lot of the overspend asking for Morelos and Kent and others to be given better contracts and what did we get in turn, zilch, zero, nada, nothing.
27 Apr 2025 18:06:22
First time I've seen name I was given who met stiennson three weeks ago.
1.) 27 Apr 2025 18:28:46
Can we have a clue bud? still in a huff though???.
2.) 27 Apr 2025 18:31:29
Lopetegui?
3.) 27 Apr 2025 18:34:55
Well? Who was it?
Scottish Express claiming it's likely Gerrard.
4.) 27 Apr 2025 18:46:24
Fork, lopotegui.
5.) 27 Apr 2025 18:47:02
It's Rangers rumours not rangers 100% correct ?.
6.) 27 Apr 2025 18:53:12
That would be a major coup John!
7.) 27 Apr 2025 18:56:02
Lopetegui is a very cautious manager. I'd hope for something more attacking and pressing.
8.) 27 Apr 2025 18:59:58
Apparently there's an email from Stewart to the 49ers doing the rounds. Probably crap but details 3 names - SG, Marco Rose and Lapotegei - in that order. Has available in brackets next to each name with a one line narrative. My big Gers pal only just sent me it.
9.) 27 Apr 2025 19:08:15
Thanks John. All is forgiven????.
10.) 27 Apr 2025 19:11:41
It's fake STS.
11.) 27 Apr 2025 19:20:10
Seeker that email is fake.
12.) 27 Apr 2025 20:34:25
If you've watched Loptegui's sides in recent years you'll know it's not a coup.
He's a bit of a dud all things considered.
13.) 27 Apr 2025 22:41:31
Interesting John I didn't know this. Thanks for the info ?.
John2561's banter posts with other poster's replies to John2561's banter posts
10 May 2025 21:35:48
Interested to see lampard now 25/ 1 at present, if Sunderland win on Tuesday he is likely to be odds on.
1.) 10 May 2025 22:15:22
John, lampard is now down to 10/ 1 with bet365 mate ?.
2.) 10 May 2025 22:29:06
Bet 365 lampard at 10/ 1 now at 8/ after my punt.
3.) 10 May 2025 22:39:01
Said earlier when 66/ 1 watch his price drop.
4.) 10 May 2025 22:41:20
Bookies clearly have someone looking on this site, Rose was a big price until mentioned on here then under even money at one point.
5.) 10 May 2025 22:52:08
Don't waste your money guys it's not him ?.
6.) 10 May 2025 23:12:04
My Star, do you rate Lampard as a manager? I know you follow that league.
7.) 11 May 2025 01:19:56
Mark he done a good job at Derby and better and Coventry but he's not a manager that would be in my top 3 mate.
8.) 11 May 2025 07:53:07
My Star, I'd have thought something similar.
9.) 11 May 2025 09:36:17
I agree and whilst I like him and what he did at Derby and Coventry his name feels like a little bit of a letdown given some of the others mentioned.
10.) 11 May 2025 12:17:08
Lampard might be admired now but we let that one slip, be surprised if it's him.
05 May 2025 18:11:36
Yefeko signs two year deal at Exeter. Wish him well.
1.) 05 May 2025 18:29:47
One down - Twelve to go!
2.) 05 May 2025 18:45:04
How you keeping John?
3.) 05 May 2025 19:37:22
Tired, but doing really welll, I'm waiting on the come down, now that I'm not taking pain relief.
4.) 05 May 2025 20:01:39
I'm sure 3cheers could help you with that John. Good to have you back mate.
5.) 05 May 2025 20:09:49
Brilliant to hear your doing well John ?.
6.) 05 May 2025 20:19:45
Great to see you back John!
7.) 05 May 2025 20:37:00
John I know a friend of a friend, if you get me ?.
8.) 05 May 2025 20:43:09
Take it easy J?.
9.) 05 May 2025 21:02:59
I miss him already.
Davies
Dowell
Matondo
Cifuentes
Lawrence
Hagi
Balogun
7 of which currently on loan or have contracts expiring this season. Wonder how much money that will free up when they move on?
10.) 05 May 2025 21:35:43
Boy, I take it as a positive I don't need pills lol.
11.) 05 May 2025 21:49:27
Weirdly i would give balogun another year. Very very low wage and he's still solid when fit. Weve got bigger problems at the back than him.
12.) 05 May 2025 21:50:28
Better to have them and not need them, than need them and not have them, you take your time bud?.
13.) 05 May 2025 22:00:39
Seen that earlier John.
Someone had wrote we got £350k for him.
Good deal if true and wish him all the best.
14.) 05 May 2025 22:15:32
Hi John how much you hearing for Yfeko? I'm told around £100k.
15.) 05 May 2025 22:22:34
Balogun well worth another year even if he's 3/ 4th choice.
16.) 05 May 2025 22:41:28
Stevie 350 up front several addons and sell on.
17.) 05 May 2025 23:14:41
Nice to hear your doing well John?
might be a bit early but you feeling any better for it yet?
18.) 06 May 2025 08:33:11
Sounds like a great deal to me.
19.) 06 May 2025 08:56:40
Borna hearing what Stevie says, plus addo and sell on.
20.) 06 May 2025 08:57:37

Saw Yfeko getting sent off for the B Team at Central Park in Cowdenbeath, sprinted 40 yards to punch a Cowden player, missed but still saw red. I was sitting behind Donald Findlay who was howling with laughter at it.
22.) 06 May 2025 12:36:07

32.) 02 May 2025 17:36:58

34.) 02 May 2025 17:54:28

35.) 02 May 2025 17:58:10
John before the pain killers wear off. Can you give us a clue who the manager is ? lol
Wish you a speedy recovery mate ?.
36.) 02 May 2025 18:03:32

44.) 02 May 2025 21:37:23
I'm a handsome dude? with a penchant for shooting people for money, just wounding them, honest?.
45.) 02 May 2025 22:34:31
I think we need a forum snitch of the year award but it would get a bit boring really I suppose.
Fork you forgot modest in your self assessment ?.
30 Apr 2025 14:37:43
It's great to see so many feel sg was a successful manager winning one title, albeit a very important one
Who on here will be satisfied if the new manager wins one title in just over three years.
1.) 30 Apr 2025 15:05:09
Not me i feel overall he was a massive failure. people can say what they like but he flapped at a treble and won less than st johnstone.
2.) 30 Apr 2025 15:05:38
John we maybe have a poor squad right now but nothing like the squad we had when Gerrard arrived, i don't want him back as manager.
3.) 30 Apr 2025 15:07:52
Managers now barely get 6 months of patience. Gerrard would have been sacked before he won the title if he had been in charge in the last few years.
4.) 30 Apr 2025 15:14:50
John2561 Nice to see you fishing again, if clement was still here you would not have got a title in the same time,13 titles in 14 years the other mob have won, no good berating Gerrard as there is a lot of people on here who would welcome him back, don't ask me the question I would welcome him back but not if the snake was included.
5.) 30 Apr 2025 15:18:02
Not satisfied John but after winning none in 5 it would be a step forward. not saying I even want SG but just answering the question.
6.) 30 Apr 2025 15:20:16
I'm never going to slag the guy off, but only because of 55! If we are all being honest with ourselves, his record was not good.
SG was exactly what we needed when we were an absolute shambles after coming back up, but right now, he's not the answer.
If it is him, he'll get my support, but I have a real fear, we'll be looking elsewhere when it doesn't work.
7.) 30 Apr 2025 15:22:51
The state we are in just now John, it might be worth gamble to win one Title in 3✌️✌️??.
8.) 30 Apr 2025 15:32:56
Was it not accepted Gerrard took over a shambles and was given time to build a team to stop 10
Also John would you not agree that Gerrard put our club back on the map in European football once he had a settled team and we have managed to continue that trait since he left
With. GVB managing to get to a final I believe Gerrard put the ground work in
What's your assessment on that part of his tenure John?
Can we also say mark allen and Ross Wilson done great jobs identifying all the correct players for him to build a team or did they also not falter at certain times with player recruitment?
This new manager is going to also need time build and the board will have to stand their ground and our recruitment team will have to give him players he can coach into a good side
John what's your assessment on what I've said mate interested to know your thoughts on my over all response to your good self?
9.) 30 Apr 2025 15:34:16
If it was one out of the next 3 i think i would be happy, i would see it as progression and will stop the Rot effectively, as long as it does not take as long to win the next one and we really need more Cup wins. A Treble would be the dream scenario.
10.) 30 Apr 2025 15:43:16
No. One just fantasists that tell them self gerrad had it harder than he really did. Splashed the cash and then bailed in the middle of the night to villa.
11.) 30 Apr 2025 15:47:06
John I think, like when SG first came. Celtic are so far ahead of us. Imo being realistic it's going to take at least 3 or 4 transfer windows to get us to a point where we are able to compete as basically how many of this current Rangers squad gets anywhere near Celtic first team including their bench. They will also strengthen and not just sit back and let us catch them.
So if I'm realistic and honest 1 league title in the next three would be good. I'm thinking the main difference here with the new owners and proper football men running our club, I hoping that when we do win the title, we don't not make the same mistake as when we won 55 and strengthen from a position of strength. Obviously I definitely think if we strengthen we will have better, improved chances of some cups in the next 3 years.
I'm sure that most of our fans will not be happy with that and will prob call for any new manager to be sacked if we don't win the league in the next 2 season. So I think the new owners need to box very clever when selling our long term plan to the fans.
Ps hopefully I'm wrong and we win the league next season and every season after.
12.) 30 Apr 2025 15:56:22
John, you need to look beyond the 1 title. Look at the quality of the squad when he arrived vs the one when he left. The absolute drubbings we used to take of them before he arrived vs instantly making us competitive. The embarrassment we took in Europe against poor opposition vs wins against top teams.
Yes the first couple of years his teams fell away in the 2nd half of the season. But he learnt from those and addressed those issues.
Personally, I think he is the most sensible choice. Someone that has done this exact task of overturning Celtic dominance with a very poor squad. There is very little risk attached.
13.) 30 Apr 2025 15:58:26
Who would you like to see get the job john?
14.) 30 Apr 2025 15:29:57
We demand more John, you are correct sg won an important title but I don't think that was enough. I'd say underachievement as a whole during his reign.
15.) 30 Apr 2025 15:30:31
John you have to remember the mess the club were in the summer he joined. We had players like Law, holt bates Clark he had to work with and immediately qualified for the group stage of Europa league bringing in much needed revenue in no way am I advocating the return of SG but it's not as black and white as made out. Our cup record was poor there no doubt and in answer to yiur question 1 title in 3 i'd accept until we build back up with a new manager. John are you asking because you've maybe heard something that SG will be appointed.
16.) 30 Apr 2025 16:07:52
I think a lot of our fans forget the complete shambles Gerrard inherited. Whether he was a success or not is open to debate.
I fear some of our fans will likewise forget the shambles our board inherited, and not be grateful for what they done.
17.) 30 Apr 2025 16:12:23
Further to my last post all of our fan base including myself are very excited about this takeover and what it will could offer. but If I'm honest don't think this is going to be a quick fix. we are in such a state atm on and off the park. No foundations, no core within the current team, no playing style, A captain that shouldn't be our captain ( only my opinion on tav) I could go on.
So I think whoever the new manager is our DOF and board are going to have to tone down the fans expecting and releave so of the pressure on our new manager. They need to be clear and honest with what their short term and long term goals are from the start.
18.) 30 Apr 2025 16:27:15
For all those say he inherited a mess what's next manager getting
Just seems many have become conditioned 2.
Hope fully this time round we can stop ten.
19.) 30 Apr 2025 16:52:06
A very good and well articulated point Zikos. John I think you are oblivious towards the point Zikos and a few others have made.
20.) 30 Apr 2025 17:00:11
Hi John, 1 title in 3 years is a vast improvement than our current ratio.
21.) 30 Apr 2025 17:07:00
John the next manager will be getting a better squad of players than gerrard had, so basically what your saying is whoever is manager that mob will win the league for the next seven or so seasons, with the names mentioned on here there's no confidence that any names mentioned are a guarantee of success, everyone of them is a risk, so who is your choice pal.
22.) 30 Apr 2025 17:10:16
I don't get your point john. Yes a new manager is inheriting a mess but we have some good players a new manager can hopefully get more out of and whoever it is will need patience.
23.) 30 Apr 2025 17:33:06
We need to build something that will win more than one title we need to build and win titles consistently like Celtic do winning one title every 5-8 years or whatever it is isn't good enough and never will be.
SG left the team in a better than he came in but it was also in his time which we are still paying for just now is players on big wages that's when it started with him.
24.) 30 Apr 2025 17:58:03
Storm I agree 100% . Ignoring the SG element and would fans be happy to win 1 of the next 3 titles if it was part of that progress. I hope we do but think it might still take time to get to that stage
re your point on wages I read today that the season before SG came to us Celtic's overall wage costs were 300% ours and the season he left our wages were only 14% less. we need to succeed whilst keeping our wage bill low as it creates extra funds for transfers.
25.) 30 Apr 2025 18:24:10
The new manager is not inheriting a mess like Stevie G did. We are 4 starting players away from a a good team. Your not a fan John and that's fair. I respect your views. But some support Stevie G. I was pessimistic but with proper backing his return could be monumental. World news. A rollercoaster. come back Stevie G!
26.) 30 Apr 2025 19:39:20
Not a big fan of SG but will support whoever gets the job. Worry for me is that from what you hear Beale did most of the coaching and without him SG has struggled.
29 Apr 2025 19:13:00
Kazan wirjo starts tonight in Glasgow cup.
1.) 29 Apr 2025 19:27:36

I'd still love a left field name that has not been mentioned.
