Morelos?
He still seems to divide opinion on here.
What can't be denied is his goalscoring ability.
30+ last season without taking our penalties.
Already into double figures this season.
Outscoring strikers 9 times his value.
Scoring important goals in Europe.
Still to score against them. Does that matter? To some it's the be all and end all.
Others on here say he cost us the league or a cup last season.
Does that mean if we win the league or a cup this season it's all down to him and his goals?
To me that's a huge disrespect to the rest of the team.
Some like Jack and Davis who are playing out their skin most weeks.
Others like McGregor who are consistently good on a weekly basis.
Or Defoe still chipping with goals and loving it. And who's built up a bond with Morelos.
So we can't have it both ways.
When Morelos was out the team last year, it was time for others to step up.
But they never. And thankfully they been shown the Ibrox door marked exit.
His all round play has greatly improved. Still a wee bit greedy at times.
But show me a striker that isn't.
Morelos himself seems to have learned his lesson and matured on the park.
If you believe some on here, it was all down to them willing to chase him out the door for a pittance and buy someone like Cosgrove / Brophy / Cummings instead ( no sniggering at the back )!
Now these same posters won't accept anything less from £10 million to the standard $100 million Dembele Dollars or is it Edouard Euros the Tim's deal in now?
So no more of this nonsense that he cost us the title last year.
We win and lose as a team.
Or will we analyses every game to the minute detail and decide which player should have done better at certain incidents and play the blame game all season?

Letsgo, we start with 11 men and go down to 10 via petulance and we lose that big important game then that sending off cost us. If we start a game with 11 and finish with 11 and win then we win as a team. Of course morelos goals win games and would win titles but his petulant sending off cost us important wins in important games that win leagues. Why do you write paragraphs but say absolutely nothing. 🤦‍♂️👍.

You forget one very big point here letsgo, winning a game with 10 men is a lot harder than with 11.At parkhead we had them for the taking until Morelos elbowed brown right in front of the linesman and turned a hard job into a near impossible one. Far from disrespecting the players you mentioned my respect for them went up for nearly pulling it off. Remember too that we played the league cup semi with sadiq up front because Morelos was suspended due to petulance. WE all love Morelos and his goals but he is no good to the team on the sidelines and there are no happier fans in any stadium than me when he smashes another goal in for the Gers.

Don't think we're going to find agreement on Morelos and what he did/ didn't do for the team last season. I think what we can all agree is Morelos is a much better player, in a much better team this season.
I really think we can win the league this season with morelos scoring 30+ goals.

Mrgrumpy no one is doubting morelos goals for the team. He is a much better player this year. But he was no use to us in the stands last year because of his attitude, he cost us in big games. How UJ can't see that is mind numbing. If morelos hadn't changed his attitude he wouldn't be at the club. Tell me would fans still be happy if he was getting sent off regularly costing us games and missing crucial games through suspension? Morelos cost us in big games last year and deserved the slack he got, he is a much better player for it👍.

@coldo - Ojo has already contributed more than Kent done last season, Letsgo is spot on with that, we all know kents ability. Morelos silly bookings etc never cost us a league there was plenty of games we dropped points against average teams with Morelos playing 90mins, we lacked the squad depth last season, which we have hopefully got right this season. Only time will tell.

He was sent off 5 times.
Once in the Europa League so we can discard that as we got through on aggregate.
Once in a 4 - 2 victory against Aberdeen so we discard that but credit him with the win as he scored 2 goals and was outstanding that night.
Once in the first game of the season where Aberdeen scored late on and the red card was rescinded. So we'll forgive him that one?
So that leaves 2.
A 1 - 0 defeat to Aberdeen. So we'll give you the benefit of the doubt and Blane him for this one.
That leaves the Celtic 2 - 1 game, where unsporting behaviour from Brown to gain his so called best team in Scotland an advantage gets Morelos sent off ( and he nearly got your hero Kent sent off also ) .
But it was Tavs mistake that cost us the draw when we had them on the ropes
And you still think Morelos cost us the title?
Open your eyes and get your facts straight.

letsgo, its like debating with a 5 year old, were you happy with Morelos' attitude last season? You were not in the slightest bit angry or let down when he saw red at parkhead? He got a suspension that ruled him out of our biggest game of the season against aberdeen in the semi final, for arguing with the ref, petulance if you like, if you are willing to keep making excuses for his old behaviour then good for you but I'm not.

You can't blame Morelos when they don't.
So now that he's changed and if we win the league this season it's solely down to Morelos? No, I didn't think so.
Read my post above again regarding his 5 sending offs and come back and tell me he cost us the league.
And considering most of his sending offs came against Aberdeen who's to say he would have stayed on the park in the semi final, never mind scored?

Last season Aberdeen were our bogey team. Nothing more, nothing less.
Others on here were proclaiming McInnes as some form of tactical genius!
Well yesterday showed the true gulf in class and quality between the 2 sides.
I thought we were outstanding from start to finish. Only regret is we could have had double figures!

Another cup semi-final.

Another clean sheet.

Another poor game on a poor surface against a physical side.
It gives another chance for the self-entitled Rangers fans to appear.
WE SHOULD be winning 4 or 5 nil.
WE SHOULD be deciding who plays in defence.
We SHOULD be questioning the team selection again.
When Gerrard changes the team he's accused of tinkering too much.
When he doesn't, he's accused of favouritism!
Since when did supporting the team become all about slaughtering them on a game by game basis?
Or having scapegoats because your perceived opinion of a player is better than the manager?
The same manager we will chase out the door if he picks your favourites but results don't go our way.
The fickle fans who were willing to give Morelos away in the summer because of his temperament.
Now we don't hear a peep because he hasn't been booked in the league this campaign so far.
The same fans who weren't willing to give Barisic a chance and stick with Halliday.
Now after a run of games, can see there is definitely something there in the CROATIAN INTERNATIONAL.
Tav was last years moan, now it appears Goldson is first pick.
All because the less experienced, still naïve at times Katic has started the season well.
But we all love Katic's blood and thunder, so we'll forgive the odd misplaced pass.
Whereas we still can't forgive Goldson giving the ball away against Celtic, can we?
Even though Edouard ran away from Katic to score.?
The beauty of this forum is the chance for us all to vent our opinions and frustrations.
Without the nonsense that other Rangers / Celtic related forums have.
But this season alone we've had threads questioning the managers position after 4 league games!
Character assassination of players after a couple of games in the jersey!
Nobody is above constructive criticism.
But let's try and keep it positive.
We've reached the Europa League Groups - won our first game.
Reached the semi-finals of the first cup.
And sit 2nd in the league with a long way to go.

Letsgo great post but the point of a forum is to express views it was my view that Helander was really poor last night I'm not convinced he's worth £3m
But that is my opinion Kazmania thought different last night as is his right but many others agreed with my assertion
Your posts are always well thought out and well presented to the forum but you have to concede every poster here is entitled to a view that may not align with yours but it doesn't mean they are wrong
Bottom line we're all wanting the same thing for our club

LETSGO! _55 Great post and I'm tending to agree with nearly all your points, however I am pretty certain Hellander must have put his boots on the wrong feet last night because he looked hopeless. I agree he certainly looked good against Feyenoord though.
Ally said on the commentary last night that the centre backs has been bullied by the big Livingston striker in both games which I agree they were given a torrid time but it was Golston and Katic in the league game I think?

Big game tonight.
One that Gerrard and the team can't be taking lightly.
We can't be having one eye on Saturday's fixture against Aberdeen.
Although it's 'only' Livingston, they can cause teams a few problems, especially at home on a poor surface.
Are we expecting a lot of changes?
We huffed and puffed against East Fife with our second string though the conditions were horrendous that day.
I'm expecting to see Katic back partnering Helander?
Or will it be Edmundson and Helander after Michael Beale raving about him the other day?
Tav possibly rested for Polster?
Davis rested? A start for Kamara?
Defoe to start?
It's games like this we could also be doing with a third striker.

We do have a 3rd striker and that is Greg Stewart, like it or not. Hence the reason we didn't bring in another out and out striker. No point in paying more wages to a 3rd striker that will never play. So if Morelos or Defoe are injured then it will be Stewart, after that then you would have to accept Aribo, Arfield or Kent playing in that role. Today is about Fernando and the send off he deserves for being such a courageous fighter until the end. football will take care of itself.

I think Greg Stewart was more brought in to play a wide role which i think is the better role for him. Defoe and Morelos are excellent for our two strikers, never in a million years would i imagine we would have a player of Defoes quality as essentially a backup striker. Another out and out striker wouldn't go a miss however as the number of games we will be playing will be a high number.

@rickwitter - totally disagree. Clubs will look at his overall goals tally and his performances in Europe and in the SPFL.
Do you think they are going to turn round and say ' that's two seasons in a row he's scored 30 goals, Rangers have won the double, reached the knockout stages of the Europa League - but did Morelos score against Celtic '?
Away and gies peace! If he keeps on playing and scoring the way he has started the season, he'll get the move he wants and we'll get the fee we want whether or not be scores against Celtic👍.
