You listen to Dujon Sterling and Jack Butland speak and start to believe a bit but then you hear Tav Goldson or Lundstrum speak and it brings you crashing down to earth. The new players come in with the right mentality and the old guard bring them down to their level. There’s far too many battle scars for some of the squad and it’s never going to change. Dujon Sterling hit the nail on the head with that interview and the fact he said some players might not believe they can win it says a lot. i'm absolutely desperate for Goldson and Lundstram to be out the door. Tav I think with a proper centre back next to him still has something to offer.

Agree8 Disagree0

I have no doubt imo that tav should be kept at rangers and will be kept at rangers, unless crazy money comes in for him and he wants to go ?If we had a good young right sided centre half that knew how to go out and cover tav when he goes forward to attack and a good, mobile defensive mid that could do the same, then tav would be still very important in everything clement wants to do and achieve ?An example i'll quote here regarding another terrific attacking right back is Liverpool's right back trent alexander arnold, who is so highly rated by liverpool supporters and everyone down there in general, like tav not the best defensively but terrific in the attacking sense, but the space he leaves when attacking is covered by their centre half and defensive mid and was evident when jordan henderson was at liverpool ?So instead of constantly blaming tav for most things, appreciate the guy and his undoubted ability and strengths and focus more on getting the correct personnel in those positions to allow tav to excell simple enough ? We just should never want to lose what tav brings ???.

No, he's a liability. Even if you get a better right sided C/ H, yes they may well cover at times while Tav attacks, which he is good at, no argument in his attacking play, but even in defence he's not good enough, to slow, too old, no fight, same tired excuses, there is a list of reasons by many on here why he has to go, this has been discussed many times on here, no room for sentiment, he's got to go along with a few others, Sterling should get the position he was bought for, I know guys like and defend him, no prob with that, but think he has to go IMHO.

Right we're do I start. The last 2 matches have been frustrating and we are back to the MB way of playing. PC has came in and all the players have been playing way above what they were at under MB. You can only keep this up for so long before you come back to your normal level (in their case bang average) as we have seen recently.
The league is gone because you can't just flick a switch on and off to go from good to poor and back. Hearts will be licking there lips at the thought of playing us on Sunday in our current form. If these players can't raise themselves to play for our great club then they are not worth keeping. After all the only way is down after you leave ask any of the recent lads who left.
Hopefully I'm wrong and we can still win a league and cup and yes I will keep taking the tablets.

19 Apr 2024 06:46:31
I actually wonder if the dressing room is split? The old guard failures and the new younger players with the drive for success?

19 Apr 2024 06:50:58
Forktongue, do you think trent alexander arnold is a liability mate just a wee question mate ?.

19 Apr 2024 06:52:03
Sterling for the record is better in midfield my friend ?.

19 Apr 2024 07:05:22
Correction in my opinion ‘Sterling for the record is better in midfield my friend ?’

In other peoples opinion Sterling would help our defence as he was a right back to trade.

19 Apr 2024 07:11:21
You can't go from good to poor and back again? Why not, most teams in the world do this. Every team has a poor game or run of them, doesn't mean they can't click again and show form.

19 Apr 2024 07:12:17
Look, Tav's a busted flush as a captain, and a liability as a RB when he's up against any player with speed, and he needs replaced.

Honestly, what good is Tav's goals If there isn't league titles to show for them?! His numbers, if we're being honest, are only good for his own stats, and make him, the player, look good!

Since he's been captain, he's help deliver 1 title, 1 SC, and 1 LC, and that's it. Out of all the competitions he's been captain for, he's delivered 3 trophies, in a country where it's a 2 horse race - that's abysmal for a team of our stature! If this was in any other industry, he would have been bagged a long time ago.

Tav must be replaced If we are to progress as a team, and instill a winning mentality. If we continue on with him as captain, we will continually fail as a team, and be stuck in an never ending cycle of failure.

19 Apr 2024 07:16:34
No I don't SWS, but Tav is, Rolls Royce n a Mini, that's the difference in my opinion, yes Sterling is great in M/ F, but he's a RB bud?.

19 Apr 2024 07:17:54
So for Tav to be effective in the team, we actually needanother 2 players t cover for him?
A CH and a MF?
And for that we get:-
Goals conceded down the right hand side.
30% accurate crosses.
Loses possession 25 times on average per game.
66% pass accuracy in the opposition half.
I would personally prefer:-
A RB who could defend first and foremost.
Someone else to take corners and free kicks.
My striker to take the penalties.

19 Apr 2024 07:30:32
Spot on RTR?, needs to be told thanks and adieu.

19 Apr 2024 07:49:31
What a cracking way to articulate you point MPH, when you put numbers like that in front of us and you call out the additional two players we need to keep him in the team you are creating a fact that we’re better without Tav. This was my opinion but your numbers are very hard to argue against this becoming a fact.

19 Apr 2024 07:49:55
Can't argue with that MPH?.

19 Apr 2024 08:02:45
Happy enough regarding free kicks and penalties as he is proven there - its outswinginging corners that does my box in - also we have become too reliant on him taking every dead ball - injured or sick then who steps up - we should have many in team who can and should be above average at freekicks/ corners - just wonder how many players take time after training to practise this art - not many by the looks of it! Noted last night during Euro games that >90% of corners were inswinging with pace which caused mayhem to defending team - let's have some of this please PC! Around 10 corners vs Dundee with no positive outcome - symptomatic of our corner taking this season- piss poor in fact?.

19 Apr 2024 08:17:00
One Walter how do you know sterling better in midfield when we have not seen him at rb.

That’s it keep tav keep losing trophies. Sounds like a plan.

19 Apr 2024 08:17:37
Hard to argue with those stats MPH however who else is scoring or creating for us? so we also need a whole new midfield and front line. Can't just say someone else will provide them because they aren't. Can u give stats for how many points we'd have if u take away his goals and assists? Currently only Sima and Dessers have more than 5 goals which is frankly pathetic.

19 Apr 2024 08:32:24
Never mind Tav, the entire defence needs replacing.

19 Apr 2024 08:58:29
Correct mark and has done for a long time.

19 Apr 2024 09:22:09
Wrong Walter John27??.

19 Apr 2024 10:01:08
Tav is one of the least successful captains in our history ?‍♂️ he is a liability. Sterling is predominantly a right back.

Good stats MPH

Remember guys coops only allows an opinion if you agree with him.

The whole team will be overhauled (again) in the summer. I think Tav, Goldson, Borna, Lundstram, Davies, Jack, Roofe, Dessers will be moved on for free in some cases and for the bid received in others. I have said all through this season that Lundstram will move on, deal probably already done and this is why he isn't interested now. I can see Gerrard making a move for Tav. Goldson might be a hard sell but if pushed he will move. I read a comment yesterday about him, nobody wanted him on a free so why would they buy him now? Spot on.

The biggest question though is how do we replace these players on our budget? It won't be easy, that's a certainty. If, as usual, we need to build a whole new team it will mean next season will be a struggle.

For me, Clement has to take some responsibility for how the second half of the season has evolved. In January we were screaming for a striker, someone to put the ball in the net. Dessers is rotten, no denying that, but failing to buy a finisher in January has led us to this point. Sorry to labour the point but Shankland would have been well into double figures with us already, so would many other strikers. Dessers would struggle to hit a cow on the backside with a banjo!

19 Apr 2024 10:23:40
With Tav out the team this would be results impacted, Kaisercailland.
Assuming that someone else would take the penalties ( Dessers has 2 from 2 this season ) :-
We beat Hearts 2-1 with an assist from Tav. No assist then we draw.
We beat Hearts 1-0 with an assist from Tav. No assist then we draw.
We beat Dundee 3-1 with an assist from Tav. No assist we still win.
We beat St Johnstone 2-0 with an assist from Tav. No assist we still win.
We beat Ross County 3-1 with 3 assists from Tav. No assists we get beat.
We beat Killie 2-0 with a free kick from Tav. No goal then we draw.
Other parameters would need to be considered.
How many goals wouldn’t we lose down the right hand side?
Would corners from others be as effective?
Would free kicks from others be effective?
Would the space Tav no longer takes up be effectively used by others?
We’ll never know.
What we do know is that Tav is a liability defensively.

19 Apr 2024 12:29:38
Tell me a dressing room that does not have issues, like in life some will get on and some won’t, what you should have though is a combined will to win regardless of that.
It’s more to do with lack of quality in the key areas on the park.

19 Apr 2024 13:46:06
Imagine trying to compare tav and Trent.

19 Apr 2024 14:31:02
Thanks MPH. Interesting stats as always mate. Think shows need for others to contribute far more then maybe could consider dropping him more. Hope sterling takes his place but others have to make the difference.

19 Apr 2024 14:33:33
Fair comparison with trent criticism. Same issues and debate just on a much higher level.

19 apr 2024 18:10:16
remember guys, everyone has just given an opinion.
