Burnley in talks with Abdallah Sima.

Agree1 Disagree0

18 Jul 2024 12:37:49
That’s the end of that then. He’ll get his wages Brighton will get about £6m.

18 Jul 2024 13:30:37
Can't compete with Burnley, god help us.

{Ed001's Note - they received a record fee for a coach for Kompany from Bayern (for some unearthly reason), they are flush with cash after their year in the Prem.}

18 Jul 2024 13:41:36
Would be great if we got Sima back but realistically I can’t see it happen. Our team just know ain’t strong enough for CL qualifier and we still need to shift players before we can sell ?.

18 Jul 2024 14:05:15
By the sounds of it the big man would have liked to have come back, but if we don't have the money what can you do. Never fall in love with a loan signing folks.

18 Jul 2024 14:22:22
He will do well there and good luck to him he was brilliant for us before he got injured
Burnley can pay fee upfront and better wages, we can't compete with that.

18 Jul 2024 14:22:40
Big guy fell in love with Rangers, he said, " I've found my home" would be gd to get him. ?.

18 Jul 2024 14:43:51
We won't be paying 6m. Granted liked the guy, but do feel we should be able to scout better for less. We sill be looking to spend that on 3 players, never mind 1!

18 Jul 2024 14:49:41
No truth to the rumours about Sima and Burnley. They are in talks with Andreas Hountondji, who can play across the front 3 like Sima.

18 Jul 2024 14:51:53
Hi Ed001, on the subject of Kompany going to B Munich, what in God's name were they thinking? Have they seen something in him that the rest don't? For me, it's a really strange appointment, and makes zero sense.

{Ed001's Note - I don't understand it either. Bayern have been in a mess for a while and this just seems to be more of the same for them.}

18 Jul 2024 15:18:33
Gutted.

18 Jul 2024 15:20:57
I've been to Burnley many times for work and it's hell on earth. So let's wait till he sees it .

18 Jul 2024 15:24:38
It dose nt matter what loan players say, when their clubs get a fee their happy with and the player see s better £signs we can't compete, unless it's a supporter, and that's a maybe?

18 Jul 2024 15:27:08
The player still holds the card here. I wouldn't quite rule this one out yet.

18 Jul 2024 15:30:28
Although unlikely that we can compete but we may just see how much Sima wants to be here. He needs to agree to go to Burnley!

18 Jul 2024 15:47:35
So, what if he knocks them back?

18 Jul 2024 15:49:11
We can’t compete with most clubs in the Championship. That’s the reality that we face. I think some fans are fickle and don’t realise how short of funds we actually are.

This rebuild will take a few years, still a lot of deadwood to be removed and trust will now be places in a starting 11 of players that are projects moving forward.

Long way to go until the end of August.

18 Jul 2024 16:06:27
Ed001 I wonder if someone at Bayern still close to Guardiola spoke to him and was recommended Kompany.

{Ed001's Note - I think they just hoped to recreate the Guardiola time and he was the closest they could see in style of play. He will actually find it difficult not to succeed, as they have by far the best team there.}

18 Jul 2024 16:51:42
The best chance we have of signing sima is agreeing the price and and an obligation to buy next summer and Brighton igniting the years extension for that to happen.
Not too far fetched. Sima does have a lot of power here.

18 Jul 2024 16:58:58
Can’t understand the Kompany transfer either, Warnock did what he did multiple times and at least knew other ways to win games when things not working out.

18 Jul 2024 17:37:17
WeAreReady. The boy they signed from Caen is a striker. They want Sima as well. Churlinov, Bastien and Amdouni are leaving.

18 Jul 2024 17:39:22
RFC, same source that told you we were interested in Stuart Armstrong?

18 Jul 2024 17:58:00
From what I seemed to gather Ed, Kompany was about Bayern's 4th or 5th choice after either failing to secure or getting knocked back from the likes of Xabi Alonso and Julian Nagelsmann again. Could be wrong but still it was a head scratcher.

18 Jul 2024 18:45:05
Asa young manager just starting his career already has a better CV than lots of other managers relegation with such a low budget club is nothing to be ashamed of in prem it's getting close to a closed shop in that league with level of money clubs have.

{Ed001's Note - low budget? He didn't have a low budget at all. He spent a fortune.}

18 Jul 2024 20:35:37
He was abysmal at anderlecht from my recollection.

Burnley we’re always going to go down but apparently he played good football.

I remember reading Bayern were most impressed with how he spoke, his presentation etc.
I think they were kind of surprised how much he impressed them.

Maybe he’ll be a success over there. Good luck to him he’s a thoroughly decent guy.

18 Jul 2024 22:43:31
Never say never, when we were only club interested there was a stalemate on price with Brighton wanting what they paid for him despite only having 12 months left on deal realistically his value would be half that.
He can always reject Burnley especially now they are in the Championship, and that he is keen on a return here, it might force our hand to offer a fee.
I know we are trying to offload players to free up cash and might be prepared to sanction £3-4m bid to get this over the line providing Brighton are willing to negotiate with player sales inevitable for us at some stage during the window.
