Dessers did what Dessers does and missed his chance. At that level we need a striker that can take those chances. In my opinion neither Dessers or Danilo are good enough and both have shown to be nowhere near worth what we paid.

Going by the videos of this Turgeman he looks like a goal poacher. This looks like the wrong type of player for RMs setup imo. We need a Morelos type that can hold the ball up, bring others into play, and knows how to play for fouls. Just need somebody less hot tempered than he was.

The issue last night was not with the attack. It was the fact we couldn't get the ball out of defence and into midfield and then hold it long enough to build an attack.
We constantly tried to play out from the back, with no idea how to get it into midfield. Pana pressed aggressively and we couldn't deal with it. Taking too many touches, dwelling on the ball for too long with players too close together.
And when it was obvious it wasn't working, we kept doing it? Which is just madness.
Lucky to get through this tie tbh. Think Pana will view this tie as a missed opportunity.
For us, I'm still hopeful these tactics will work against lesser opposition, and hopefully we can get slicker at executing it against better opposition, but we will need different tactics at times as a Real Madrid or Barcelona would have had double figures last night.

Dessers got the ball more purely because the opponent was shattered and also likely they weren't afraid he would hurt them (proven correct)

And by more effective do you mean missed a 1v1 and got slide tackled easily and had the ball bouncing off his shins every other possession?
No one can defend him now. Still can't score a meaningful goal.
Danilo had literally no help up top. the midfield was nonexistent last night. and Souttar trying to run up field with the ball. what is that about?
Im not saying Danilo is the answer but he's in my team over Dessers every time.
We desperately need new strikers! ASAP.

Could have had Zlatan up there last night he wouldn't have got much more of a kick than Danny, Don't understand what people don't get that the game was all but done when Dessers came on and Pana had about 5 strikers on the park So way more space and defenders to deal with we've seen Dessers multiple times in games not as difficult as that be absolutely non existent!

Great post Zikos, couldn't agree more, the midfield were incapable of holding onto the ball and was taken off them far too easily I've never been a great fan of Diomonde imo he's too slow and lots of games pass him by. Would Barron and Cameron have done better we will never know as RM didn't play them.

How can anyone write danilo off after 2 games, where he got absolutely no service at all. At least give him a chance to prove himself. I doubt many of our players will even be match sharp yet, playing in new system, new players, new manager. He's showing in pre season if you find hom he'll score goals.

Clearly Martin was starting Danilo, seems others know better, he never got any service it could have been Haaland last night but he wouldn't have shut players down like Danilo, seen Dessers done more, yes when opposing players went burnt out.

I think we all agree dani wasn't great, but any Rangers striker coming on that park was going to get chances, that lot gave up defending at that point, dessers misses best chance of the game, so he wasn't very good either.

There is a player in there for me, our team isn't settled yet, we are trying to faust a new system in players not accustomed to it, danilo will come good once we're up to speed, with players playing that the manager views as imperative to his system, time required for that, until then dessers starts for me, I'd keep both and bring in turgeman.
Dessers get it tight but he is a good striker, u don't get 51 in 2 seasons if your mince.
