Serious interest in Connor Barron from two Italian clubs.
We also have an interest in Cheikh Niasse.
22 Nov 2025 01:36:54
What's the names of the clubs mate?
22 Nov 2025 08:28:12
There was interest from Bologna in the summer, maybe their back in.
22 Nov 2025 09:05:04
Bologna definitely back in fork.
22 Nov 2025 10:07:20
Cheers John?.
22 Nov 2025 10:09:05
It's not just Baron that the Italians are interested in - we are facing a bit of a battle to hold on to a few of our brighter prospects from the academy.
22 Nov 2025 10:15:28
Big mistake selling Barron. He's a cracking wee player. he'd Excell in Italy.
Niasse the ex Everton player?
Didn't rate him.
22 Nov 2025 10:44:43
If the price was right and we could use the money to try and fix Thelwell mess from the summer than it might not be a bad option.
22 Nov 2025 11:15:21
So sell scottish trained player buy a senegal international what's going to happen to European squad if we lose another domestic trained player.
22 Nov 2025 11:51:12
Is there any interest in Chermissi ?
22 Nov 2025 12:07:12
Ehl, that's normal and has happened for years, Rangers also sign players from many academy, no one complains
Problem is till we create a decent pathway in Scotland players will always leave, look at mebube brothers Wilson Lovelace Steven's et al.
22 Nov 2025 12:08:49
Dado I reckon we may be able to get couple off million for him with addons and sell on.
22 Nov 2025 12:59:34
Stevie not that Niasse, he signed for everton alomst 10 years ago.
22 Nov 2025 13:01:46
I wouldn't classify the level of interest from Italy as normal John.
Due to the success of a number of players in recent seasons the Scottish League has become a priority market for the Italian league - this week alone there have been development scouts from 5 Italian clubs (that I know of) actively at Hearts alone - no doubt they would have been in conversation with Hibs, Celtic and ourselves also.
22 Nov 2025 13:04:07
Barron was getting rave reviews in the Italian press after the game v Roma. Wouldn't be surprised if they're one of the teams with an interest in him.
22 Nov 2025 13:16:47
My reference to normal, is your statement number of academy players r proving difficult to hold onto.
22 Nov 2025 13:18:19
Selling Barron for a couple of millions would just be daft imo.
22 Nov 2025 13:26:29
I understand why these boys might leave us for more glamorous clubs or leagues especially as the money will be more than we will be offering to turn pro but apart from Gilmour it generally is not a good career move. The Mebude bros. have done nothing since they left us, don't think Lovelace is playing first team football, Wilson seems highly regarded at Villa but never gets near the first team and I would bet money now that Stevens doesn't make it at Arsenal.
Its not a criticism of the boys but from a footballing point of view they would be better pushing to make it here first before they move on, if they are good enough.
22 Nov 2025 13:38:36
I wouldn't let Barton go. Would rather keep him for a few more seasons.
22 Nov 2025 13:39:01
Would suggest developing Barron, Cameron and Curtis whist selling Raskin. The model needs to be rotating and constant.
22 Nov 2025 13:46:48
Barron is a great player n warrior for us definitely a player we should be keeping.
22 Nov 2025 14:30:57
Rangers should hold onto Barron for at least another season, especially with Raskin likely to move on imo.
He's valued around £2.1–2.5m now, but a big year, World Cup exposure, and two years left on his deal could easily double that.
If Italy comes in with a serious bid later, selling makes sense until then he's more valuable filling that midfield gap and developing as part of Rangers' Scottish core, even though his style looks tailor‑made for Serie A.
22 Nov 2025 14:32:55
Baxter - Aye - I hear Largs Vics are sniffing around ???.
22 Nov 2025 14:56:53
He is as well being sold if he is not going to a regular starter. Once again only on the bench today.
22 Nov 2025 14:58:17
We will continue to hold on to any young players we produce as we don't give them game time and we have proven this season with one of our own that even when given a chance and you impress, this regime would rather develop other teams youngsters.
So we will continue to lose players a Thelwell was full of it when saying we needed to show these guys they have a chance here.
22 Nov 2025 15:20:44
Price for Barron would be £5m.
22 Nov 2025 16:59:30
He's never worth £5m.
22 Nov 2025 17:39:21
Selling Barron for 2 mil is daft he's far more useful to us than 2mil so if he's to go we should be looking for a lot more.
22 Nov 2025 18:18:36
Wsl, mebube struggling, Wilson had an operation and played last game in cl youth scored 3. He will play for Scotland the lad is 19, so give him a chance
Least Steven's went to a decent club
Lovelace has just returned to second team after being out since February with serious injury.
22 Nov 2025 18:35:38
Barron is not a great player he is a good honest pro that's about it. He can improve tho.
22 Nov 2025 18:38:12
Aye u think that now mate. Ferguson went for what we thought he wasn't worth. he's now worth £25-30m
Mctominay too. £100m possibly.
We don't want to sell him so it needs to be more than we think he's worth. £5m would be my number er.
22 Nov 2025 18:47:30
Your probably right John, I'm not sure he's worth selling at that price.
22 Nov 2025 18:48:28
Agreeed 100% Stevie.
22 Nov 2025 20:23:56
On current form i'd play Barron before Raskin and Diomande.
22 Nov 2025 20:44:45
Wilson will make it, such a natural finisher and I expect him to be at a bigger club than villa in time. Has potential to play lots of different roles as a 9.
22 Nov 2025 21:48:34
Barron should go nowhere assgaard or as I've been calling him assgaurd need to do hell of a lot more or he should be moved on pronto. can't see him making norway cut either.
22 Nov 2025 21:49:03
Curtis would have done more than Antman today.
23 Nov 2025 01:20:42
I wouldn't trust Thelwell with £1 in a sweetie shop the guys a total clown couldn't pick a decent bogie if he tried.
23 Nov 2025 09:26:29
Dado issue is the lad wants to leave due to lack of minutes, stays at Rangers i'd be surprised if he makes World Cup
His best chance if fifa go ahead and increase squad to 27/28:
23 Nov 2025 11:08:26
If we're serious about player trading then we would sell Raskin and make way room for Barron?
23 Nov 2025 11:23:13
Foreverroblem re Curtis is he does not put in the hard work away from the pitch on match day, imo another Lowry.
23 Nov 2025 11:55:44
A players ultimate dream is playing at a world cup, could be Barron last chance, but I wouldn't be selling him for a couple of million though, at least double it.
23 Nov 2025 11:57:00
We can't be getting rid of Scottish player anyway, unless the replacement is there.
24 Nov 2025 01:30:59
A swap loan til the summer for Barron with someone that suits us and is attractive not just a squad filler?
We can then discuss perm fees or swaps thereafter the World Cup.
This makes sense at least.
Barron gets what he wants we get something we need more than him.
He comes back in the summer or we make a bigger fee than we would now.
24 Nov 2025 12:05:28
Beale I agree we can't get rid of a good young Scottish player she's of being an international.
If it's the case yhe boy does want away simply to try make the squad, I'm not so sure Italy offers him that chance. It look Ferguson a while to crack on internationally
Barron would have to adjust to the league and lifestyle forst and Jan to may probably would t help him make the squad as much as staying here would I don't think.
Maybe a move to a hearts or a loan down south would do that for him. Not Italy.
