Got to say that Dowell should never be near a match squad- the boy has shown nothing over his tenure at Ibrox and needs moved on ASAP - our youth deserve that jersey - one of Gers poorest ever signings I feel - and we will win zip if we need to rely on him moving forward?.
1.) 04 Oct 2024 12:22:02
Problem is BF that very rarely will we play up and coming youth players.
2.) 04 Oct 2024 16:21:17
BF there have been too many to count poorest signings over the years. not meant as a defence of Dowell because I share your concerns.
@Fork I think that is down to the OF rivalry. can you imagine us losing the league and playing young lads; fans would go mental. I also think the gap between B team and first team is too great which is why we are looking to get a team in the lower leagues. If it was Beale's decision I think that withdrawing from Poland league was a mistake. regular football against the adults in that division would bring them on. the B team games against U21 sides doesn't do that. In the LL league we could have kept trying to see if promotion was a possibility to make the opposition quality even better. We should buy a feeder club even down south to put our youth in and develop them there until they reach 1st team or to sell.
3.) 04 Oct 2024 18:24:09
I get that bud, but then who as a youth would want to come to us if there is no chance of progressing.

Blue-Floyd3 has written an article entitled, My Top Ten Glasgow Rangers Issues
1.) 02 Sep 2024 13:32:47
Floyd, read article interest but think your rushing it pushing Matondo out door.
2.) 02 Sep 2024 14:00:32
Rushing it? Matondo is in his third season and has been toilet for 2 of them so far. How much time do you want to give players? :D.
3.) 02 Sep 2024 14:11:51
First time poster so go easy on me. If it was me I’d have sterling LB until yilmaz is fit then the new Dutch lad (no even going to try spell his name) RB for a while to see what he’s made of. Then midfield 3 bajrami, Barron and Dio with front 3 of jefte, Danilo, cerny.
Danilo can’t rot on the bench forever after yesterday’s performance from dessers so why not give him game time and change it so we aren’t subject to what we witnessed yesterday. Also jefte LW elimates defensive frailties and he looks better at attacking anyway. Just my opinion.
4.) 02 Sep 2024 22:05:09
Kasanwijro can play either RB or CB and Bajrami you would expect to play as a number 10 or LW.
Sterling might be an option at LB until Yilmaz returns from injury.
We really need to sign an experienced midfielder who is available on a free transfer, and a previous poster mentioned Davy Klassen, or Denis Praet, as we need a player to control the tempo of the game.
5.) 02 Sep 2024 23:49:17
Copland - yeah we need players to control the game. But going by what I’ve seen of klassen and praet I thought they were more on the attacking side of midfield. A big problem we have now is that we are so open there due to clements structure, tactics and by all accounts a style of play that we still don’t see. Midfield is an issue as we are very lightweight in there just seem to get bullied and overrun in there. Sterling in there was a good idea for physicality but he has to play in back 4 now for me.
Maybe it’s time to go 3-5-2 for security and get 2 forwards up there but can’t see clement changing to that now. FA might be an option to look where u mentioned klassen and praet but different style of player but FA is always a gamble cause players who don’t have a club usually don’t have one for a reason.
6.) 02 Sep 2024 23:55:33
I have to admit the fact we now have so called fans hounding players and the manager abusing them doesn't sit well at all with me. We stuck together through thick and thin over the last decade and while we are all massively disappointed and angry at another loss at them we need to stick together and back the team and manager.
01 Sep 2024 07:05:04
Win midfield battle -shut down McGregor and Hatate at all times stopping supply and man-mark their forwards at set pieces with no ball watching -simples- it can be done - c'mon the Gers❤️???.
1.) 01 Sep 2024 07:57:22
Just hope Maeda doesn't rip the piss out of Tav again.
2.) 01 Sep 2024 08:37:10
Never been so chilled before an old firm ever don't no why think we'll score definitely so let's go.
24 Aug 2024 10:23:21
Various outlets saying Matondo on 34k per week - dear God! - I then wonder how our club is in dire financial straits? - should I phone a friend or ask the audience or is plainly obvious? Big PC has major work on his hands and gut feeling is it will take ages to right the wrongs of the past - hope you get the time big guy?.
1.) 24 Aug 2024 11:04:24
Fastest finger first ??.
2.) 24 Aug 2024 11:06:22
I don’t believe he is on that. If I recall it’s been mentioned previously that’s it’s around £27k (still far far too much mind) . This seems to have come from Derek Ferguson who for some reason seems to have become the latest go to ex Rangers player who in fact knows absolutely hee haw about the club.
3.) 24 Aug 2024 12:33:38
Blue I understand it 28k.
4.) 24 Aug 2024 12:54:45
This came from open goal as I think Andy Halliday or
mcgeady mentioned it this week most places say 28k a week and has done for a while.
5.) 24 Aug 2024 12:55:40
Sorry it was d Ferguson not Halliday.
6.) 24 Aug 2024 13:14:15
Cheers John/ lads - even if 28k - he does not give true value for money - we have been sold a pup! Just like so many before.
7.) 24 Aug 2024 13:39:29
I'm old. and I still chuckle when we say. the guys only on 20k a week! If only.
8.) 24 Aug 2024 14:44:45
28k too bloody much!
14 Aug 2024 10:53:44
IMO Dessers is obviously not the ideal answer for us up front - but it is a big step to replace him one for one and hope all goes well - no matter what striker we bring in
The ideal scenario is to have a second striker in wings to replace/ support him when matches not going our way
He looked angry about the abuse from stands and while he is there to be criticised when playing poorly we must realise the guy is trying his best and has provided enough goals last season had we been scoring across the board but currently we have nowhere near the goals in our team to win games at a canter or challenge realistically -gut feeling is if we don't get another goalscorer in by end of transfer window the league will be over by October - Clement and the team needs positive support from board and stands or we will end up scaring future potential signings off too. Our policy of rewarding average players with big money contracts is hurting/ haunting us big style - only when dross is gone can we be truly judged?.
1.) 14 Aug 2024 11:24:33
After last night, I really don't see where the money is coming from to replace anyone. Who can we sell? Infact, who can we realistically get to buy those we can sell? Apart from the "obligation to buy" ??Cifuentes (how in God's name did anyone believe that? ?), where is any transfer money coming from if we can't sell?
This is not just a shambles, it's an omni shambles!
2.) 14 Aug 2024 11:31:52
I honestly felt it was going to go wrong last night when I looked around at all the empty seats, was a sad site. I don't know if pc is the man, but to see people blaming him for last night is ridiculous, an absolute shocking refereeing decision cost us last night, never been so angry about a decision in my life, cost us the chance to make over 30 million, let that sink in. The stupid rules that a second yellow can't be looked at by var is nothing short of ridiculous. We can all say pc got this and that wrong but one decision changed that game, a refereeing decision. Dejected!
3.) 14 Aug 2024 11:42:54
I think he d Ed a good job considering the lack of tactics from clement and the lack of quality he’s playing with.
4.) 14 Aug 2024 11:55:23
Dessers played well last night and was holding the ball up / bring other players into the game.
Must be soul destroying holding the ball up to watch Lawrence get the ball stuck between his feet before making an a*** of it.
Like wise, the ball throw to Ross M was perfect, a better player running in to it and were one up.
I don’t like to disagree with peoples opinion but suggesting that the league could be over in October is both naive and pointless.
5.) 14 Aug 2024 11:59:50
If he hadnt missed most of his sitters then he might have had over 40+ goals though.
Its all nice t say he tries his best but he's being paid to score goals, not run around like a headless chicken and stumble over the ball.
He is a lovely lad but not good enough to make a meaningful difference for us to progress. doesn't help the system PC wants to play though.
6.) 14 Aug 2024 12:03:28
Dessers worked his backside off and played a couple of nice passes to bring players in, by the time he was arguing with the stands, he was fighting a lone battle v 4 Kiev defenders.
We have more to worry about than Dessers 34k crowd for a make or break 5 mill, and next round of CL Qualy, should be a red flag for everybody.
7.) 14 Aug 2024 12:04:20
I agree, the nigerian who is not a goalscorer? is clearly not the answer. He does not have a first touch and can't hold the ball up, again he let the two goal bet down last night. We need a new striker badly.
It was a strange line up to begin with and questions are starting to be asked of Clement. We had zero pace on either wing. Jefte and McCausland should not have started such a big game. Sterling should have been in midfield.
This number 10 is a joke, the 10 can't get involved, its a wasted role. Our midfield two get outnumbered and ran over that's why the 10 is so ineffective. The sooner we revert to a flat 3 in midfield the better.
I'm not impressed with Butland either, gets down far too slow and his distribution is non existent.
The ref was a joke and should never have sent of Jefte however I must admit we never at any point looked in complete control of the game, both Tav and Yilmaz got turned inside out constantly.
Why is that we take an age to shoot, Dio and Dessers just hit the thing!
McCausland is not a better option than Wright that's a fact.
Quality reinforcements badly needed or its going to be a long hard disappointing season.
8.) 14 Aug 2024 12:11:50
A lot of talk about how poor Dessers is, but I think Danilo is a much bigger problem.
9.) 14 Aug 2024 12:13:51
I'm old school, have never liked the one striker system, must be very easy to defend against, particularly when whoever it is has no support!
10.) 14 Aug 2024 12:17:14
the league is over now B/ F3.
11.) 14 Aug 2024 12:35:20
In the press Cifuentes deal isn't an obligation so that's basically a free loan with us paying his wages . wtaf . who brokered that as a good deal . shambles of a club!
12.) 14 Aug 2024 13:10:36
@Maryhill …. Totally agree the mismanagement at our club regarding recruitment and rewarding high wages to players who’ve been here far too long and are literally bang average is absolutely honking until we shift them on and only then will we get the hunger and desire back …. Yet another long hard season ahead for us.
13.) 14 Aug 2024 13:31:40
Dado_ nil nil draw at Hearts and struggle to beat Mwell with them having half a team missing - how many points do you think we will ship before Xmas? - on current form I am a realist not naive my friend and this comes from supporting my team for over 58 years (in early days home and away) - let's hope we turn the corner soon and get more goals into team end of!
14.) 14 Aug 2024 13:40:35
The league will not be over by October, even if last year along is another to go by. Nothing is won or lost in October. Congratulations on supporting the team 58 years, does that make you a gold member?
15.) 14 Aug 2024 13:51:34
so from Footy stats website for last season. Shankland scored 23 goals (including 3 from penalties so 20 goals from 97 shots) from 100 shots 50 on target, 50 off target so 1 goal every 4.35 shots, 4.85 if you remove penalties and Dessers scored 16 from 79 shots, (no penalties), 48 on target, 31 off target. so 1 goal every 4.94 shots. in a linear equation which I know goalscoring isn't if Dessers had 100 shots then he would have scored 20 goals in league Shankland had the experience of the league as everyone says which means he would score more for us. however if we only created 79 chances/ shots for him then he would have scored same number of goals. Dessers new to league and team not creating same number of chances for him and Tavs takes penalties. so you can read anything into statistics I know but shows that a striker not experienced in league was not much worse on scoring to shots/ chances created than Shankland. With experience he will improve this year you could argue.
02 Oct 2024 07:32:38
One thing for certain there's not much smiling at East end today - maybe Brenda should keep sly snidey digs regarding Falkirk being best team he has played this season under his hat eh? Think the word of the moment is KARMA.
26 Sep 2024 07:11:27
Dessers will score goals but its the others around him that need to weigh in too for us to have success??.
20 Sep 2024 19:18:07
He is playing to the crowd for ultimate own gain - he wants the pitchforks and burning torches to be out and create mass hysteria.
08 Sep 2024 17:00:50
Loved what the guy means to the club through all the dark days and Euro runs but sentiment can't get him bye forever and all good things come to an end - hope he can move and leave us with memories and not get rinsed in any more OF games as he is not the player he once was
- time waits for no man?.
05 Sep 2024 14:10:13
Ed001 - Katie Price would win one of those contests - lips down?.
06 Oct 2024 10:54:01
Angus -who dsaid punt ball to CF? there are more than just Dessers up front - are we not allowed to play ball over full backs to wingers? - c'mon man also passing back and forth across our back line allows teams to regroup - how silly of me to wish to play with pace and move forward - why do Celtic capitalise through fast breaks and getting front to back quickly then? ?.
06 Oct 2024 06:46:03
Totally agree lads that I cannot see our manager changing as we need some stability - however I would like to see him be more flexible and be willing to change tactics to suit each team we play - we can't always go gung ho and sometimes we need to be more pragmatic how we shape the team - especially in defensive third and also when we play in Premier league we need to transition a lot quicker and get ball from back to front with pace - no more tippy tappy passing across back four including back passing let's get their defence turning and facing their own goals asap - I get possession is key but we waste a lot of time and effort going basically nowhere (its a pet hate of mine) - hopefully this changes vs St J tonight.
04 Oct 2024 19:36:02
Boyblue - dunno where you get the Barron stuff ie is he ready yet?
As McEnroe said - You cannot be serious! Cost a goal other night and now hung out to dry when he has been the hardest working and most consistent player we have had all season - come on sir?.
04 Oct 2024 07:31:33
Gers - Poor finishing cost us dearly but must disagree re Barron - he has been our outstanding player from start of season and constantly wants the ball unlike others in team (we could do with more having his same attitude and desire) agree re Tavs as he was burned by their wee winger but who was not in our team (some player) - but realism must kick in too - they spent upwards of 100 million in summer and look at our rebuild - money definitely talks. However IF Cerny had finished early things could have been different - just shows how badly we need a true poacher up front imho.
03 Oct 2024 06:50:46
Mystar - Lawrence is not exactly blessed with blistering pace and can usually only last 70mins or so - so surely having the lad back will dovetail this position at least in the short term- personally am glad to have him back to hopefully add something to the team/ squad - time will tell but when he pulls on that jersey he has my support.
