Ehl talking about leadership group,

i agree that the entire group should be replaced, i also agree they are probably the weakest flimsiest, and pathetic "leadership group" this club, has ever seen. That in itself should have been identified a long time ago, surely.

When we had top players, our leadership was in almost every position, i don't like this "group" thing.

imo, it refers to a group, apart from others who may be far better in the team, but not part of the group, clique is another name for group.

this would be great, if other players could see they lead by example, or offer constant advice and support, or even throw their bodies on the line on the pitch to encourage others.

they do none of that, none.

how on earth ehl, has that 'group' managed to survive and indeed earn millions without anyone, putting a stop to the clique?

Tom, I think too much was made of the player trading model, that's fine but there needs to be experience in there which should have been addressed in the summmer. Not everyone we bring in needs to make a profit. This team desperately needs a spine and unless we get that we're fecked.

I love Tav and Butland has been great for us.
However I absolutely hate this idea of a leadership group.

It shows a sense of hierarchy among those who are supposed to be equals.

Not for me.

Especially when 2 of them have no figure and haven't actually ever done 1 single positive thing for the club.

02 Dec 2025 07:11:35
Tom, you are right - cliques and divides are what happens if you have a leadership group that don't have leadership qualities.

Put simply, we've not signed players with the experience to step up and replace them.

02 Dec 2025 07:27:35
Parlane you're 100% correct.

Go back to even recent teams, when we had an aging Steve Davis or an ageing Davie Weir.

They don't fit any sort of trading model but they bring experience, talent and are excellent models. They are signed for free so can be allowed to leave for free.

Been a long time frustration of mine and something we have lacked for years, we used to have the likes of big Lee, Barry, Ryan Jack, Davie Weir et al. rousing the players on the pitch and steadying the ship when things got bumpy. Now we have Tav throwing his arms in the air like a spoilt wee boy and berating players for mistakes that he has often had a hand in creating! Soapy navel gazing when things start getting tense and general pandemonium across the park when we get the ball under pressure.

Joe Rothwell was brought in by the previous manager to provide experience in the middle of the park etc and he's been such a success he now warms a bench! Rant over. ?.

Any "leadership group" with Dowell in it is a rid neck! Seriously, the club should be getting done under the trades description act for such a whopper.

I believe the leadership are -

Butland - Good keeper, but way too passive with his own, weak as baby pee defence!

Souttat - Yip, taking leadership advice, and orders, from an error ridden player, who wants out at the end of his contract, makes sense!

Tav - Still our captain, so that makes sense. However, that's it! It must be difficult being led by an player who's as stale as a old brass's knickers!

Dowell - where do I even start on this one?

02 Dec 2025 08:46:56
Sunshine, i posted similar yesterday regarding Dowell.
You'd think he'd be embarrassed being part of the leadership group.
Dreadful signing!

02 Dec 2025 09:22:46
Leadership group should be respected by the rest of the team and inspire them.
Considering 3 of them play in one of our biggest areas of concern - defence - and the other is horrendous, then I can't for the life of me think what they bring to the rest of the players.

02 Dec 2025 13:05:44
We had no leaders at our club, the leadership group is a joke.

02 Dec 2025 13:24:56
Leaders in the dressing room come from respect by the players themselves they don't need anyone telling them who it is.

02 Dec 2025 14:44:57
and who on earth thought it to be a good idea to have a group at all.

there's more people in this leadership group than there is management in some small companies, surely one spokesman would suffice,, do these leaders decide which complaint ti take forward, which player to support, which way we train?

what do they do and has any one of them any idea of what this club is and means to half this countries people,? and beyond, do they know of our tradition and history, our reputation across the globe?

This is much more than a football club.

like United, Liverpool, Madrid, Barca, Munich, Juve, Inter, and even dare i say it Celtic, this is much much more than just football, its a way of life. i want them all gone, before me hopefully.

IE, try to form a " leadership group" from:

Woods, Goram Klos, Steven, Robertson, Gough, Butcher. Amo, Moore, Cuellar,
Fergusons, Durrant, Steven! McCall, Gazza!, Laudrup, Hately, Coisty, Brown, And a multitude of others, Led by real Men.

why on earth does this team require a " leadership group".

02 Dec 2025 19:19:56
100% Coopersdad. I'm not a fan of any leadership group. Manager, asst Manager and Captain is all that's needed.

02 Dec 2025 19:26:39
Hi Parl my ol mate.

yes, i said ling ago when we were talking about player models etc that we needed a spine of players, who knew what Rangers were about, to solidify and instil some kind of pride into the dressing room.

These guys were obvious, and didn't need to be sold at a profit because they would have brought plenty at a good age without costing much money
l we desperately needed these players to bring some pride, a hard shell and lots of experience, while we introduced younger eager and valuable players to suit the trading model .we went all out and lost our way.

we signed young players not good enough
we ignored players that would have bled blue for the club
just like me and you would and we made a complete mess of it.

and Stevie,

i personally have come to the conclusion that i dislike Tavernier very much indeed now, i won't use the word hate as its nit a word i use about people, but i can't stand Taverniers face and his pointing around while trying desperately to deflect from the fact he will normally always be a root cause of our mess

i never thought i would sa6 this about any Rangers captain

i'm ashamed he's a player never mind captain, and my respect fir him went long ago

nowi just dislike him in every thing he dies or says, plastic skipper imho.
