Reading cortez won't take part in the match tomorrow, is he injured again?

Onewaltersmith

1.) 25 Sep 2024 18:04:57
Yes and it's several weeks.

2.) 25 Sep 2024 18:13:44
Clement said at the back end of last season that these niggling injuries will stop for the start of this season and still it's continuing ?.

3.) 25 Sep 2024 18:22:44
You can't stop injuries. What he wants is to cut down the length this injury happened during a Duel.

4.) 25 Sep 2024 18:23:32
It's very easily picking up slight injuries when returning from the injuries he's just had, hopefully just a precaution why he never trained today.

5.) 25 Sep 2024 18:35:01
Apparently injured in training.

6.) 25 Sep 2024 18:38:53
Well lucky for us it isn't a niggling injury eh SWS?

It's a contact injury, which can't be prevented.

7.) 25 Sep 2024 18:55:02
Beginning to look like 4.5m down the drain.

8.) 25 Sep 2024 20:08:54
Dont like to say it lads but i think cortez could be another crock.

9.) 25 Sep 2024 20:26:49
Injured in training and apparently out for several weeks. Looks like money down the drain if he can't stay fit for more than a few games.

10.) 25 Sep 2024 20:28:35
Blue89,was that not a song about big dessers ?.

11.) 25 Sep 2024 20:30:10
Injury permitting, i think big dessers will score at least 25 goals for us this season ??? Thoughts on how many everyone else thinks dessers will score ?.

12.) 25 Sep 2024 20:53:01
Can i ask how you know its several weeks? Not doubting you just want to know was it manager that Saif that? We been so unlucky with injuries.

13.) 25 Sep 2024 21:05:04
Cortez injured in training in duel/ contact with another player and guys are already writing the boy off. Just ridiculous. These sort of things happen at every club, Cortez has just been unfortunate.

14.) 25 Sep 2024 21:41:06
Ban the manager said at the press conference it would be several weeks on cortes.

15.) 25 Sep 2024 21:47:16
Sws 30-35 is my guess but he will get about 3000 - 35000 he shudda put away lol.

16.) 25 Sep 2024 22:08:00
Thanks OWS bloody terrible luck we have that boy made of chocolate.

17.) 25 Sep 2024 22:28:35
30 plus SWS ?.

18.) 26 Sep 2024 07:11:27
Dessers will score goals but its the others around him that need to weigh in too for us to have success??.

19.) 26 Sep 2024 09:51:23
Dessers may score 20 odd goals in the league, but it will be against the dross and not be any really meaning behind it.

Iggy needs more time as well, which will cut down on Dessers minutes and chances.

20.) 26 Sep 2024 09:54:47
I haven’t been impressed with Cortes to date. The signs were there early on. He was injured in his first loan spell and can’t string a set of games together. To commit 4.5million for another injury prone player is ludicrous. The boy is made of chocolate.

21.) 26 Sep 2024 10:41:25
Cortes and jefte looked like they were starting to gel, but if he continues like this, we need to release him at the end of the season. Shame as I think there is a decent player in there.

22.) 26 Sep 2024 10:57:23
We only have an option to buy. If he doesn’t measure up then we don’t need to buy.

23.) 26 Sep 2024 11:28:26
It is an obligation to buy next year SXM he signs a 4 year contract with us in June 25 similar to Diomande deal.

24.) 26 Sep 2024 12:13:30
Florida I believe he'll need to play a certain amount of games for that to happen, I like Cortes very much and he's just been unlucky with injuries, nothing is saying he'll continue picking up injuries, again he's just been really unfortunate with them.

25.) 26 Sep 2024 12:22:09
Someone said that the obligation to buy is only if he plays 70% of matches, so that a good deal because if he is perpetually injured we don't need to sign him.

Just think the boy has been unlucky, don't know what the current injury is but looks like another impact one and these happen. It's the breaking down repeatedly with muscle injuries, ala, Yilmaz, Matondo and even Sterling that worries me more.

26.) 26 Sep 2024 12:43:46
Mystar, it’s an obligation to buy. He is our player come June 25. Club announced it in the summer. He’s not for me. He wasn’t rated at Lens. He played 4 games for us last season and got a long term injury and we sign him up with the obligation to pay a fee next year. Absolute ludicrous business by the club.

It has to stop. He has shown nothing so far. First half of the game against Hearts he was in the RBs pocket. We need better wingers that can contribute goals and feed Dessers.

27.) 26 Sep 2024 12:53:43
Only your opinion Florida, I can spot his talent a mile of, maybe obligation but I believe he'll need to play a certain amount of games for that to kick in.

28.) 26 Sep 2024 13:03:43
Good for you mate I hope you are right but so far he ain’t been that good ??.

29.) 26 Sep 2024 13:52:46
He only returned from injury before the hearts game, if you can't spot his talent good for you Florida, I spotted it last season.

30.) 26 Sep 2024 15:00:42
??? Aye ok talent spotter. You will be telling me Cifuentes is a player next.

31.) 26 Sep 2024 16:54:34
Next level no less Florida????.

32.) 26 Sep 2024 17:03:16
Florida bear. You’ve not got the slightest scobby about football bet your a guy that wants us to play 442 and sign shankland ?.

33.) 26 Sep 2024 17:04:40
I'm going for 26.

34.) 26 Sep 2024 17:08:01
???Cifuentes can play fgs, obviously never done it in a Rangers jersey, but we'll double our cash on him.

35.) 26 Sep 2024 17:08:18
Gofor?

36.) 26 Sep 2024 17:35:03
So far Cortes hasn’t done it for me. Since January he has played 10 games and scored 1 goal. He has been injured 3 times and we have committed to shelling out 4.5million for him next summer. For me that’s not good business. Our club has been prone to signing injury prone players and he looks like another one. Anyways I am off to have a few beers and watch the bears. Enjoy the game lads ??.

37.) 26 Sep 2024 17:44:11
Hopefully a good night Florida ?.

38.) 26 Sep 2024 21:06:20
Very good night mate.

39.) 27 Sep 2024 10:04:37
It sure was. A great all round performance and it should have been 5 or 6. I was very impressed by the young LB Kasanwirjo. Thrown in at the deep end, not playing his natural position of RB he looked very composed. I hope he starts over Tav at RB against Hibs and as a team this result should boost the lads confidence and kickstart our season. Let’s go My Star ????.

40.) 27 Sep 2024 11:31:51
Agreed Florida, I'd be playing him at rb, Kasanwirjo Soutter Propper Jefte for the hibs game and John Soutter as our Captain, been really impressed with Soutter this season, always rated him highly and he's turning into a top cb for us mate.

16 Sep 2024 20:35:42
Should we be concerned that another 2012 could happen at the club as some newspaper opinions suggest?

Onewaltersmith

1.) 16 Sep 2024 22:11:52
Are we now taking newspapers as gospel do you think we would have spent £10million plus this summer if that was to be the case.

2.) 16 Sep 2024 22:28:55
NO we shouldn't OWS. This is the liewell rag at its worsed. Who remembers being at school and being told worsed was not a word lol.

3.) 17 Sep 2024 00:09:09
Of course we have good reason to worry, that doesn’t mean we are definitely going to have another 2012 nightmare . However we need to be very careful, all expenditure needs to be carefully scrutinised. This is not a good time for playing Hagi’s wage and getting nothing in return.
Agents tend to steer their players away from clubs that there are rumours of a financial shortfall.

4.) 17 Sep 2024 01:09:26
OK no posts.

5.) 17 Sep 2024 07:59:39
We get nothing in return from Hagi regardless of paying his wages, the guy is hopeless.

6.) 17 Sep 2024 08:07:33
We should have been concerned if we didn't cut millions off the wages bill to a manageable figure, move on an ageing squad and bring youth into the team and have a strong management and recruitment team to take us forward. Really, anyone expecting us to demolish celtic at the start of this season has to have a reality check, Clement said we see the team start to kick on in October, I'm starting to see green shoots. Think all expected Tav to move on too and there seems to be a group of new players and a dwindling group of old leaders . Moving forward, what the boss has done in 2 windows is move a lot of the players on that loads on here have been screaming out for and start to build for the future not just this season,
I'm behind him.

7.) 17 Sep 2024 08:21:06
Good to see you back on white horse.

8.) 17 Sep 2024 08:47:08
Could nt agree more Bazbear, hopefully the new players gel and the remainder of the old guard are moved on by the end of the season, Tav being no 1 and hopefully we can bring in a number 6 in the next window, andmaybe anotherforward depending on injuries and squad needs. I don't expect Dessers, Lawrence, Dowell and Tav to be here next season. My only fear for PCis his record against the Mhob. He has to beat them at Ibrox or the fans will put him under tremendous pressure. I don't expect too much this season as its a rebuild year. Not everyone will be patient.

9.) 17 Sep 2024 09:00:46
We’re in debt to our owners, what exactly is going to be the reason for us going into financial trouble? We just spent £4m on a player 3 weeks ago.

10.) 17 Sep 2024 09:04:34
Onewaltersmith no press on an 2012 situation only thing saying we're in a situation like of 2012.

11.) 17 Sep 2024 09:34:57
We MUST all get behind him. He has done a lot to help with lowering the average age, lowering the wage bill and moving on the deadwood. It will take time but we should still be able to beat the rest of the Scottish Premiership Clubs and solely focus on the Celtic games.

12.) 17 Sep 2024 09:37:29
Hopeless dado? That's utter nonsense.

13.) 17 Sep 2024 09:38:54
Spot on bazbear. The short termism is what has led to us being in this mess. Look at the level of recruitment Koppen had at PSV and how it worked out for them. Diomande Barron Igamane Cortes Jefte all are young talented players who will be main stays in our team for a couple of years. We are building the core of a squad that’s going to get better let’s all just get behind it and make life easier for everyone than sit and moan at everything.

14.) 17 Sep 2024 11:37:03
Would we really have committed money to non essential infrastructural work if we were in financial difficulties plus we have no debt to anybody other than shareholders and we have decent money coming in from the Europa League. We also have a number of wealthy shareholders who wouldn't allow this to happen.

Back in 2012 we had an owner who had run out of cash and interest who couldn`t find a buyer because of a retrospective HMRC case and who chose to sell to a con man who made things worse by not paying our current HMRC bill. It should not be forgotten that Walter had kept us afloat by qualifying for C.L and a run to the UEFA Final, Allys team going out of both European Comps early removed a source of much needed cash. None of this is happening now. Fake News.

15.) 17 Sep 2024 13:45:33
Good point wslgers4ever, the green half have been saying we're going bust for 10 years, just wishful thinking on their behalf, think we're heading towards sustainability, and some euro runs or trophy wins will only enhance that, we're not the best team in Scotland just now but it won't be long and celtic would have been pumped out the champions league if they'd have had to play qualifiers, yet they didn't because of our euro form ironically.

16.) 17 Sep 2024 20:36:05
Fraser whether you respect these people or not but leckue in the sun said similar Gannon in DR said similar.

17.) 18 Sep 2024 09:36:45
2012 was a 2009 movie where they collected together all the ham actors for the same project .

03 Sep 2024 16:49:05
I heard the council inspection for stadium was being carried out today does anyone have an idea how long before they inform the club if everything is good.

Apparently deals off. Hopefully they are wrong.

5.) 30 Aug 2024 23:11:49
H&H saying Edozie not happening 23:07.

6.) 30 Aug 2024 23:11:55
Rangers review and Chris Jack saying business done at 2 players in no Edozie.

7.) 30 Aug 2024 23:14:49
not happening.

30 Aug 2024 19:22:54
Sky say we are working on a 3.4m deal for the Albanian lad. He's 1 I'd like.

Onewaltersmith

1.) 30 Aug 2024 19:32:00
Its all over the internet now, even getting reported that a director from his club has confirmed it.

2.) 30 Aug 2024 19:36:38
Surely we talked to raheem sterling. he said any move had nothing to do with money. Show some ambition.

3.) 30 Aug 2024 19:47:31
Sorry but paying far too much for someone with one good season in serie a and pretty average in serie b. Would rather pay 3 million for Miller. Hope I'm wrong.

4.) 30 Aug 2024 19:54:15
Anyone just as excited as the 2013 window?

5.) 30 Aug 2024 19:55:47
We couldn't even afford 10% of sterling's wage ahahahahaha.

6.) 30 Aug 2024 20:00:04
27Aug, you at it aye, hopefully you are.

7.) 30 Aug 2024 19:54:56
Onewalter at around 10 to 3 you were quoting sky as saying we were not bringing in any more players so that was it. Now you're hanging on to this update. Are you a spokesman for sky or something. They don't know ow any more than the rest of us.

8.) 30 Aug 2024 20:00:45
Raheem Sterling? Granted want us to be ambitious like many, by bringing in another couple ideally, but he will end up at Arsenal or Man Utd.

9.) 30 Aug 2024 20:01:16
Am having a great Friday two oasis tickets for Wembley 2nd August and 2 for murrayfield 9th of august.

10.) 30 Aug 2024 20:05:07
Sterling poss Arsenal, Gilmour medical in London for Napoli.

11.) 30 Aug 2024 20:28:20
Kaiser bejrami better than anything we have ( lawrence) in thr 10 roll.

12.) 30 Aug 2024 20:33:17
You have my commiserations storm.

13.) 30 Aug 2024 21:11:49
Perhaps Paul but at that price when all were hearing is needing to cut costs? Hope he's worth it.

14.) 30 Aug 2024 21:13:32
Sorry Storm but couldn’t think of anything worse than listening to them 2.

15.) 30 Aug 2024 21:17:52
Storm c u there.

16.) 30 Aug 2024 21:18:51
No commiserations needed mate and delighted.

17.) 30 Aug 2024 21:22:00
I was just thinking that cletus. They were bad enough 15 years ago. How much worse can they be now? Couple of chancers looking to boost their bank balances, nothing more, nothing less.

12 Oct 2024 21:53:13
Read this earlier. The first 33 matches of last season a Scottish u21 player appeared only 26mins for Rangers! Perhaps looking at Scottish players is something wrong need to do more of.

Onewaltersmith

1.) 13 Oct 2024 00:12:43
How many Scotland u21 minutes did Celtic have last season? It can’t have been a lot. It’s the quality of recruitment that has to be better in general whether that’s Scotland or wherever is irrelevant.

2.) 13 Oct 2024 05:27:09
Clutching at straws now MSM start talking about rice n Lennon lol, don't get me wrong embarrassing what we do rice few minutes neverseen again yekefo n lowry, yekefo doing alright at Exeter think there 6th should loan everyone out not doing your job if you canny get them playing time.

3.) 13 Oct 2024 09:54:47
Yfeko has been a mainstay in the team so far.

Could he turn into the next Bassey if he keeps developing with game time in a competitive league?

Exeter have an option to buy.

4.) 13 Oct 2024 11:09:39
That'll be that footballing superpower, Exeter, sitting 7th in league one down South, Lazlo! The next, Bassey! Aye, you never know, eh?! ?.

5.) 13 Oct 2024 12:00:07
To be fair sunshine. Bassey was play youth football when we picked him up. Tims got matt o reilly from league 1 mk dons.

6.) 13 Oct 2024 12:19:29
Us usual perspective needed, Yfeko getting bummed up for starring at Exeter but that's a level well below Rangers. Good luck to the boy and I hope he makes a career for himself but it doesn`t mean we`ve made a mistake by letting him go, a fee and a sell on deal would be okay .
I read the other day how Scott Wright had showed Rangers what they are missing when he scored 2 goals against Shrewsbury in an obscure cup competition. He hardly managed to score 2 goals all season for us, so maybe he`s found his level and we certainly aren`t missing him. There are lots of players who have left that we do miss but he ain`t one of them.

7.) 13 Oct 2024 12:32:31
Very true, Paul, but we've seen the lad up close, and there isn't a snowballs chance in hell this boy could be the "next Bassey"! Why, whenever, any of our young players move away after they're deemed not good enough, do they suddenly morph into a player with potential to be the next "Bassey", "Laudrup", etc! Makes me chuckle!

8.) 13 Oct 2024 13:47:49
Tav I couldn't care less about the other mob I'm. int in rangers and it's a wider point of why do so few young lads get the chance to play for us? Even mcCausland was only out of necessity.

9.) 13 Oct 2024 15:31:36
OWS as much as I would love us to give our own young players a chance and have an academy production line, if they ain't good enough then they ain't good enough. The league not having rules in place that states we should have a certain number of young scots in the matchday squad doesn't help either.

10.) 13 Oct 2024 16:29:34
Sunshine, I remember a time when Bassey was getting pelters because he couldn’t defend against St Mirren then something clicked.

11.) 13 Oct 2024 16:30:59
The next bassey lol lol lol.

12.) 13 Oct 2024 17:14:35
Blue89, bassey moving cdntre back was what made him click. Exactly the type we need now.

13.) 13 Oct 2024 19:04:13
Bassey got game time at LB initially as Barisic was injured and in poor form. It wasnt until GvB arrived that he played LCB and that was I think because Goldson and Helander were injured. Katic on loan, left Jack Simpson. So for our young lads to get a chance do we need to suffer that many injuries in any position.

if you give them game time do they become the next Bassey or do you not play them and then have to sell them to Exeter. despite our differing opinions not one which can be answered without playing a kid for a few games.

14.) 13 Oct 2024 20:52:46
Some of our posters thought Bassey was a bomb scare until the last 6 months at the club.

15.) 14 Oct 2024 00:49:54
What did Bassey look like at Leicester?

What was said of him in his first few games for us?

Seem to remember him being branded a bombscare.

These lads need minutes.

Let’s see how the boy develops.

Already looking a much better prospect than the one pilloried on these pages.

Hopefully it wasn’t a mistake letting him go with an option for them to buy. That’s all I’m saying.

16.) 14 Oct 2024 08:28:20
Angus, you're my new favourite poster, loving that informed and sensible approach.
Bassey had 6 good months and we cashed in, how is he doing now? genuine question as I'm not sure, I know it didn't really work out at Ajax.
Mcausland is a good example, was never getting a game, grabbed his chance and has developed and now if we sell him we get a lot more than if he was warming the bench.

17.) 14 Oct 2024 08:51:31
Bazbear thanks. I think the issue is that if they down get minutes they don't progress. but if we do give them minutes then initially they look like a bombscare and we drop points possibly and that can't be done as we must match Celtic no matter what. look at our rebuild and manager still under pressure to compete.

looked for figures and saw that Lyon gave 11000 minutes to young players last year and Barcelona 8000. you can argue that they will have better youngsters but the quality of the league balances that.

IMO you need to give them minutes in 1st team to see if they are good enough. then you decide and sell on if not.

10 Oct 2024 22:29:05
Graham park is leading the process of hiring a new CEO along with giligan and Letham! Park who brought us Caixnha and with such an important position we can't get this wrong.

Onewaltersmith

1.) 11 Oct 2024 01:09:59
No he's not.

2.) 11 Oct 2024 08:24:56
Really onewalter, some walloper says it on the rumours site and you repeat it an hour later on the banter page. Get a grip.

3.) 11 Oct 2024 08:44:55
One Walter what is your source re park.

4.) 11 Oct 2024 09:18:25
Heard its from a French Ceo I believe her name is Ms Fi gment from Imagination.

5.) 11 Oct 2024 09:54:57
if he is in a team of Gilligan and Letham then they could outvote any walloper decisions he were to advocate anyway. People respect their ability to get it right so not sure it would be as big a problem. is it not better to keep your enemies near at hand and involve them in processes rather than have them sniping from the outside.
love to hear the source though, don't need a name but just the general direction it comes from, ex player, tea lady, person who met Tav walking his dog etc.

6.) 11 Oct 2024 10:21:19
Who was it that used to say he saw Tav walking his dog in the village, and said he stayed there too, but couldn't spell his own village name correctly?

7.) 11 Oct 2024 11:08:04
Gazgers Fork. The same guy that had a go at me over my health issues. People called him out when he done that and he hasn't been seen since.

8.) 11 Oct 2024 11:48:00
John source is Chris jack on rangers review
Jfm if you read on here all the time you. ll know I don't need to repeat anyone's else's post I can do that myself.

9.) 11 Oct 2024 11:48:41
I agree with John I like to hear the general direction where the rumour came from.
Fork at least by hearing it came from Tav whilst walking his dog we were all able to assume it was crap.
there is so much misinformation, sorry rumour being spread amongst the support it adds to the malaise around the club. not saying people can't put rumours on but an idea of the source kills the suspect ones dead.

10.) 11 Oct 2024 11:49:00
John source is rangers review and Chris jack. I'm sure you can check that out.

11.) 11 Oct 2024 11:50:24
John 4 lads also commented on it last night on there podcast on YouTube.

12.) 11 Oct 2024 12:18:55
Cheers Jfm08 couldn't mind who it was. ?.

13.) 11 Oct 2024 12:22:00
John pretty sure when people ask you for your sources you tell them where to go, so why ask others? It's a banter and roumers site, let's not try to change that to no humour and factual.

14.) 11 Oct 2024 12:31:57
Cool one Walter thanks for reply.

15.) 11 Oct 2024 12:34:15
Don`t know anything about the rumour but its highly likely that if we only have a temporary Chairman running the club with the assistance of another shareholder that a major shareholder like Douglas Park would want some input . As he seems to have taken a step back, then having his son who is also on the board attend any interviews is not that much of a stretch to believe. Don`t suppose he`ll have the only or final say in the appointment but if you were offered the job as CEO at Rangers you would want the appointment to be unanimous rather than having one faction wanting you and another not. That could make the job very difficult.

16.) 11 Oct 2024 12:58:22
thanks OWS. as you know I like a fact and I am also interested in reading these stories so I better understand the club.
For others who haven't found it there is one line in the RR piece I found which mentions Park but it may be different from what you read or may have been altered. It says "Gilligan and George Letham are now the main figures at Ibrox, with RIFC plc director Graeme Park also contributing more closely to the running of the business. " It mentions the collective process rather than one man holding the strings (Beale? ) and any recruitment quotes are from Gilligan.
So if this is the piece you mentioned I read it that Park wouldn't have a great say or be leading but would be part of that collective process. scary but not as scary as him leading or being the sole voice. just my take on it though.

17.) 11 Oct 2024 14:59:03
Angus it was a video jack put out on YouTube.

18.) 11 Oct 2024 15:00:32
Jfm I misread your post the reason I commented on rumours was in reply to a post by another contributer.

19.) 11 Oct 2024 15:18:00
Although it’s a rumour page, I’ve always thought that in order to stop deliberate miss information and misplaced hysteria among the supporters. Name media led sources which we can all then see and read, without naming individual sources for obvious reason at least say how credible you feel the source is, Chinese whispers and all that.

20.) 11 Oct 2024 16:07:05
agree CO2; the type of source even can allay people's fears around what is being rumoured.

21.) 11 Oct 2024 17:21:04
Boy Blue no-one is trying to make the site boring with no humour although I do prefer factual. There is however enough misinformation and bad news going around about the club just now without people being further concerned by things posted on here. If the source is given even just a guy I met in the pub then readers can decide how likely that is to be true. If it is a source such as the ones OWS gave then we can read them and make our own mind up on what is said.
personally I like those discussions although the threads where people are poo pooing others posts are entertaining. Those will still happen even if it is put down to the dog of the man who was walking Tav's wife. I think I may have got that wrong though somehow or round the wrong way.

22.) 11 Oct 2024 19:12:00
If there is a new investor in the pipeline they may want to have a say on who is recruited as the C E O, when all the current vacancies are filled does anyone know what the extra wages will amount to.

23.) 11 Oct 2024 19:20:13
If I read your question right then I am not sure alawalaw that there would be extra wages as the positions are already filled so we aren't creating something that isn't already being paid for. It may be down to the calibre of applicant and what they want though, for example if the candidate for the new CEO is someone we really want and we have to pay £10k per year more we might stretch to that. so wage bill could go up I suppose.

24.) 11 Oct 2024 19:57:07
Boy blue, no I don’t, one well known poster asked if he could name my reliable source who worked within ibrox, he believes my source is a friend of his wife

That is a no no

There is a difference naming an employee of our club and saying, I read, guy in pub said

I know an individual who left rangers because he was named on many sites re leaks,

25.) 11 Oct 2024 19:57:51
100% agreee CO2.

26.) 11 Oct 2024 20:39:03
Ah mind that John, was a while back, correct bud to keep schtum??.

27.) 11 Oct 2024 22:12:35
Yes John. there is a huge difference. I think type of source is different and lends an individual to understand the likelihood of the rumour being 'true'

08 Oct 2024 21:13:31
Really starting to have doubts over dio, since signing hrs played 19 league games scoring 2 goals and 2 assists! He's our no10 and not contributing enough imho and at 4/ 4.5m we need more.

Onewaltersmith

1.) 08 Oct 2024 22:19:52
One Walter when have rangers played him as a 10. He certainly is not a 10;

2.) 08 Oct 2024 22:24:12
His squad number is 10 he's not playing 'the 10 role' huge difference but agree he's in a slump.

3.) 08 Oct 2024 23:17:07
More nonsense he's never been played as a no10.

4.) 09 Oct 2024 08:21:44
My prediction would be he was playing like he did with his old team first few months and has now been coached out of that style. Similar to Raskin who looked like Gattuso at one point.

5.) 09 Oct 2024 09:34:38
A ten? Come on mate, not in a month of Sundays, for crying out loud.

6.) 09 Oct 2024 10:21:12
He's played various positions in midfield but he's the 1 who trying to support the striker but my point is valid for a 4.5m player to have contributed so little isn't good enough.

7.) 09 Oct 2024 10:23:17
East Belfast can you give me a match where duo was mom? Does he offer enough or is that nonsense to ask.

8.) 09 Oct 2024 11:04:26
OWS he isn't the one who is trying to support the striker that is the number 10. he is the player in the 2 deeper who does try to get further forward. 2 assists, 84% successful pass rate and 5 key passes which lead to chances is some form of return for the money so far. at a time when I agree he doesn't look as comfortable as he did last season for the 6 months he was here, when he got at least 2x MoMs.

9.) 09 Oct 2024 11:34:03
He`s had a couple of game playing the No.10 role as opposed to just wearing the number but definitely doesn`t have the attacking flair to play there . The trouble is he doesn`t have the defensive discipline to play as a holding midfielder alongside Barron so what is his role in our midfield? I keep saying he would be more suited to playing in a midfield three, which we don`t play, so why did we sign him. I thought he was our MOTM away to Kyiv and Malmo but has never really shown it in domestic games.
Comparing Raskin to Gattuso is only valid in that they were both pretty poor when they played for us and neither can last 90 minutes.

10.) 09 Oct 2024 11:51:09
OWS you get man of the match for completing 5 passes in this team ?.

11.) 09 Oct 2024 11:52:30
He is a no.8.

12.) 09 Oct 2024 12:36:21
I don’t disagree with the comment of his value OWS, 4.5m is concerning for what we get back which is very little.

13.) 09 Oct 2024 13:01:39
I see football players similar to houses. most people don't buy them just because they will make you money in the long-term but that they will be useful and what you want/ need at that time. Dio might not be spectacular at the moment but he does add something to the team; perhaps not as much as last year or what everyone thinks he should. He has time to grow and improve age wise just that football fans are always impatient. It is when he reaches end of contract that we need to look at what he is worth then or re-sign him. Like houses always a risky strategy as 40% of signings succeed which isn't high. possibly a poor analogy and one for people to tear to bits but there you go. as the team improve he will relax and do so as well I feel.

14.) 09 Oct 2024 13:10:26
Good news, I’ve had a we chuckle today.
Raskin compared to Gattuso, No just No.
I like Raskin but come on, let’s be serious.

15.) 09 Oct 2024 13:13:24
His best position would be as a 10 or on left of mf 3

But he’s not got enough about him to play in a mf 2.

16.) 09 Oct 2024 14:15:41
Stevie, glad having you back again mate.

17.) 09 Oct 2024 14:21:21
Very balanced and sensible comment, Angus. That'll never catch on ??.

18.) 09 Oct 2024 18:43:27
Angus you make valid points but I compare dio with the other mob who we are trying to get closer too and like many he's nowhere near any of there 3 midfielders and I genuinely hope he finds his form because we can't afford to have a 4.5m signing flop.

19.) 09 Oct 2024 19:24:12
Beale thanks bro, otherwise engaged for a few months there. Glad to be back. I do notice that the site doesn’t seem so busy these days. Not as much updated posts as used to have.

20.) 09 Oct 2024 19:49:20
OWS stop comparing us to them and I mean that even if we get on top. It is the price thing sometimes which makes a player a flop or not I think. If he cost £2.50 then fans would see him as a bargain. so forget his price nothing you or any fan can do about it.

He is far from perfect but still young enough to improve and whilst he does he does things well and other things badly. His worst habit is probably trying to twist back when he is pressed. probably learnt that growing up and its worked until now.

He'll learn soon it doesn't work here every time and teams have seen it. he will develop new skills just give him a little time and support. every player isn't an instant hit, even Barron and Bajrami have their poorer moments.

21.) 09 Oct 2024 22:08:48
Stevie a poorer site without you mate, you're some man sir lol.

07 Oct 2024 08:54:17
Where's the improvement we should all be seeing as a team? St. johnstone who are rotten had 8 shots at our goal and whenever we lose possession we are hopelessly exp9sed our 2 fb can't defend we don't have 1 midfielder who can play a killer pass or 1 who. ll contribute near double figures in goals. We have.

Onewaltersmith

1.) 07 Oct 2024 09:11:40
3 shots on goal 1 of which was after we were down to 10 men. We won comfortably calm down.

2.) 07 Oct 2024 09:29:32
We have players who can provide with a piece of individual skill but I'm not seeing enough patterns of play or combination of players it's sl9w and boring to watch and now the 3/ 4m we've committed on Cortes could be a waste as he's out likely for months and who has confidence Danilo can stay fit long enough to contribute.

3.) 07 Oct 2024 09:32:39
they actually had 10 but only 2 of those were on target and neither from memory caused JB any issues. we had 21 but only 6 on target but with 8 blocked so 14 on target (? ) . our FBs attack so there is and always has been space behind; why can't people see that.

re MF who pick killer passes Bajrami, Lawrence, Dio and Lawrence will get 10 this season as well. Cerny and Bajrami will get a few as well so we have goals across the team, McCausland and Matondo have 2 each so far and aren't as reliant on Dessers at the moment anyway.

St J have good players with a bit of pace up front. Unfortunately for them they had Levein as manager until now and with a decent set up they will look better.
we have 5 clean sheets in 7 and our Xg against is improved. a good team is built on a strong defence and that is better than last year. every cloud as they say.

4.) 07 Oct 2024 09:34:22
Must of had your tv off when hagi played a killer pass last night.

5.) 07 Oct 2024 09:54:26
Sometimes you only see what you want to see OWS.

Was far from a perfect performance, but was pretty comfortable against a side set up to do little else but defend.

We know our forward line lacks pace when Cortes and Matondo are injured and we know Dessers struggles against sides that sit as deep and crowd the box - unfortunately though we don't have many alternative options at the moment.

As I've said, 5 wins from 6 between the international breaks.

Rest, recover and go again as we potentially have seven winnable games between the next two.

6.) 07 Oct 2024 10:43:47
Spot on EHL and also 5 clean sheets in there as well. The defence getting lots of clean sheets was the foundation that led us to 55. No doubt there are still issues but 5 out of 6 with the 1 being Lyon is nothing to turn your nose up at.

7.) 07 Oct 2024 10:58:29
Raskinloyal… he set up the 2nd goal.

8.) 07 Oct 2024 11:30:25
Still think our passing game needs improvement. Encouraging signs overall and Aberdeen will give us the game we need. Most of the opposition chances come from our slack passing and vision.

9.) 07 Oct 2024 11:33:01
Rome wasn't built in a day.

10.) 07 Oct 2024 12:05:06
We have clean sheets until we come up against a decent team.

11.) 07 Oct 2024 12:13:27
Benlora I agree that it needs to be quicker but the pass completion rate was 86% so we tend to find another player more often than not. that might be because we play easy pass rather than the type which Hagi played for 2nd goal. only 16 passes were of that nature. The issue is that because we throw men forward that if we lose it and they have some pace up front then kicking the ball into that space leaves us exposed. Souttar was excellent last night in those duels so we didn't concede.

12.) 07 Oct 2024 12:55:02
Don`t think we were ever threatened last night apart from when Propper fell over and Butland made a great save ( is this not why we have a great keeper, you can't stop every team from having a shot) . Tav and Jefte were never under any pressure defensively and Saints one tactic was a long ball for somebody to chase which Souttar dealt with well. We are not conceding chances or goals in league games and for me the issue is at the other end where we have only scored 12 goals in 7 games, 6 of them in one game. We waste so many opportunities with a poor pass or cross or poor decision and when we do make a chance our strikers fluff or scuff most of them. The keepers only good save last night was from Kasanwirjo in injury time. Midfield to from needs to sharpen up, they are all international players and should be doing much better than that.

13.) 07 Oct 2024 13:11:16
Against better teams we get exposed badly on the turnover, playing kasa and Stirling at fullbacks and tweaking our tactics a bit might help, cannot play the same way against the St Johnstones of the leagues than we do in Europe, we don’t take enough chances to play basketball games and could take some heavy defeats.

14.) 07 Oct 2024 15:03:00
Angus, are you serious that Dio will get double figure with goals this season?

I would be happy with double figure with passes!

15.) 07 Oct 2024 22:43:11
Diomande is a player Zikos, technically very good and I’m still convinced he will make us a decent profit. Midfield rotations take time and patterns can def be seen in games.

16.) 07 Oct 2024 22:58:12
Angus how do you know shots that were blocked were on target? We never had 14 on target we had 6.

05 Oct 2024 17:18:53
It's went very quiet on the chairman/ king talk and the rumoured investment. Also are the club close to appointing a ceo maybe 1 of our knowledgeable posters have heard.

Onewaltersmith

1.) 05 Oct 2024 18:17:06
King is all ego and a need every so often to be in the limelight.
If he was serious he would go and round up some investors / partners to buy the other shareholders out and put his plans into action.

2.) 05 Oct 2024 19:25:32
Very quiet, heard a far fetched story regarding discussions with Moyes about comming on board in a football advisory role.

3.) 05 Oct 2024 19:47:13
agree MPH if I had a pound for every time King says there are investors for Rangers then I would invest that ?.

4.) 05 Oct 2024 20:18:36
Well, you wouldn't be investing much would you, Angus?! I do love a bit of hyperbole!

5.) 05 Oct 2024 21:45:42
Moyes wants back into management, not any football advisory position. So I'll rule that one out.

6.) 05 Oct 2024 22:06:48
? Sunshine. you surprise me and here was me thinking you were just a grouch.

7.) 06 Oct 2024 12:15:00
King has probably headed back to S. A m he`ll reappear in a couple of months when there is another big game on the horizon. If he wants a takeover get his investors together and then come back and tell us what he has planned and who with, then maybe we`ll back him.

8.) 06 Oct 2024 13:16:50
agree wsl. you are right in that he only comes back for big games and then the press know he is good for a quote so look to speak to him. He then throws the grenade and then leaves again for SA. Press know we are constantly on look out for a knight in shining armour as does King so stories are there.
