Plenty say we don't create enough chances.
But how do we compare to other teams in the league?
Hearts – 31 goals from 248 chances. 22 big chances missed. 12% goal conversion.
Celtic – 26 goals from 263 chances. 40 big chances missed. 10% goal conversion.
Rangers – 23 goals from 243 chances. 22 big chances missed. 9% goal conversion.
Motherwell – 25 goals from 204 chances. 24 big chances missed. 12% goal conversion.
Hibs – 26 goals from 211 chances. 27 big chances missed. 12% goal conversion.
Aberdeen – 18 goals from 215 chances. 21 big chances missed. 8% goal conversion.
Falkirk – 17 goals from 187 chances. 20 big chances missed. 9% goal conversion.
Dundee United – 23 goals from 213 chances.20 big chances missed.
11% goal conversion.
St Mirren – 14 goals from 181 chances. 15 big chances missed. 8% goal conversion.
Dundee – 13 goals from 136 chances. 9 big chances missed. 10% goal conversion.
Kilmarnock – 17 goals from 178 chances. 18 big chances missed.10% goal conversion.
Livingston – 16 goals from 159 chances. 10 big chances missed. 10% goal conversion.
The start under Martin didn't help – 5 goals in 7 games.
We are currently 3rd for chances created.
We are currently joint 4th for big chances missed.
We are currently joint 5Th with goals scored.
We are currently joint 9th for goal conversion.
Room for improvement in key areas.
And you just never know where that will take us?

I think it just proves that our players are not good enough. If we had better then we would certainly have taken more of our chances and turned those draws into wins.
We have only lost one game which from the outside looking in you would find that hard to believe given how we perform and where we are in the league and where we were in the league.

Superb stats MPH.

We need to score more goals.
A new striker is essential next month.

Club72, Rohl hasn't lost a league game, 6 wins 2 draws.

I'm well aware of that My Star in the sky, I do follow the club but thanks anyway.

No problem.

our figures are comparable against all the other teams in the league. if we took 20 more shots which is the difference with Celtic then we would have 2 more goals so 1 goal less than them.
same amount of big chances missed as Hearts who have the wonder duo of Shankland and Braga so would they really be the players to improve our ability to take big chances.
You could argue not and that they wouldn't improve that ratio.
also funny that last 2 seasons Desser had a 20%+ conversion rate and wasn't good enough but almost twice as effective as this season.

Good post Angus.
18 Dec 2025 17:28:10
It depends who the chances fall to, Angus.
The chances above are for the full team.
Miovski is currently - 19%
Danilo is currently - 13%
Chermiti is currently - 9%
And although Dessers was 20% last season, the team combined were 10%. Same as this season.
For comparison,
Shankland - 19%
Braga - 17%.

MPH the stats are great but as you show it needs greater context. so using the additional info Miovski is the same as Shankland and better than Braga. Moore who I think is more the equivalent of Braga as plays out wide is over 15% and Tavs is 22%. Max Aarons sitting at 20% but I can only remember 1 goal so he has had 5 shots (? ).
I think Hearts conversion rate is skewed due to their 2 x CHs rates as they have scored 6 in the league between them (18% of their league goals). so if Braga and Shankland go off the boil their rate will drop dramatically unless their CHs continue to score.
as I say often needs more context and haven't looked deeply into it but we aren't as bad as it shows despite our failings up front.

So a big thing to take away then is that we are creating chances after all.

Correct, Kaiser.
