Funny how things get you thinking?
Ewan Chester — Walter Smith's old chief scout, the man who helped unearth some proper gems back in the day — was seen at the game the other night sitting with Archie Knox.
Now maybe it means nothing…
Or maybe, just maybe, it means a wee bit more than that.
This is the guy who worked hand-in-hand with Walter. Knows the standards. Knows the type of player that actually wins things at Rangers. Not hype signings, not punts for the sake of it — men who can handle the shirt.
If Chester's anywhere near advising, even informally, you'd hope it's about:
1. players with character
2. players who understand pressure
3. players who can play in front of 50,000 when it's going wrong
4. players who make others better
January is massive for us. We don't need numbers — we need the right profiles.
Seeing Chester beside Archie Knox, two men cut from the Walter Smith cloth, just gives you that wee feeling that maybe — just maybe — the club is starting to look back at what actually made us successful.
Men with Rangers at heart.
Men with pride.
Rangers men who know the job.
Let's hope they have a bit of input!
Thoughts? ????.

Ewan Chester is from my hometown of Barrhead, or at least he lived here whilst at Rangers.
Not seen him in many years. He must be a good age now?

It pulled up atall sir Walter, just a wee tongue in cheek banter mate. Absolutely not pulled up, your a great poster on here.
Whatsmyname, I hadn't drank in there for years mate but was member of the bus for a bit and also it was ma local for a good few years a while back. I was definetely a "bar fly" back in the day haha
Sad so many boozers having to close.
It's simple really, the money that land is worth these days compared to profits a bbusiness can realistically make is night and day
We have not enough homes and too many pubs in Barrhead so it's always going to go one way.

SirWalterMcCoist I said similar regarding the type of player required. Its a winning formula. We need people at the club in key positions that know our game and exactly what is required to be successful.
