Does anyone know if Joe Pirlo's move in January is actually happening? Its probably best for all parties if he gets a move back to a level where he can play like the Championship, he's completely out his depth up here. Realistically how much cash if any could we expect to make from selling him.

His level is not our league mate is it and he looked a player down in the Championship but got found out up here so it makes sense for him to go to a lower level where he is on a par with players the same level.

Expectation and demand is higher than any club in the champoinship, SPL quality may be lower than the top of Champoinship player wise. Joe Pirlo is not playing for the SPL he's playing for Rangers and that eclipeses the Champoinship regardless of players.
Most of the English players of this mold have found it very difficult to step up to the demands of playing 60 games a year in Europe, SLP and 2 cup comp and winning every game. Very few clubs in Eng have the same demands. imo.

Rothwell has been a shocking signing for us, it's absolutely irrelevant which league is better. All that matters is he wasn't good enough for us, good players can play in any league.

Regardless of what we think, the SPL is a top tier leage and offers top tier European football and the chance to win major honours, the champoinship even with an abundance of good palyers offers non of that, only offers money. The top 4/5 teams in the the champoinship are on a silimar level money wise to Rangers/Celtic however they do have over priced palyers in England.
Would Hibs Hearts Aberdeen beat a mid table champoinship side home and away, would be an interestng match up and would be good to see in a competative enviroment and not pre seseason. What do we reckon.

Championship is a better league but Rothwell is rotten up here. Plain and simple happened with a few players coming from there.
It's funny that you use the championship thing as the target instead of how bad Rothwell signing has been after all the excuses we got when we told you he wouldn't make it at Rangers.

Championship is mile ahead of our league in quality but up here it's having the cahones and mentality to know that you must win every single league game and comfortably even against 10 backs. Then also have to be able to turn that into Euro form.
At the end of the day we have had many "good" players struggle up here and many not. All that matters is what they do here and only here not any other league or team!

just one question which always intrigues me when we say how they played at other clubs isn't relevant. How do we pick players and scout them at their current clubs if we aren't looking at how they play (well it isn't relevant is it). serious question as this point is made regularly.

He played well at Leeds, Blackburn and Southampton because they are smaller clubs playing at a lower level compared to us. Cantwell, Lawerence, Gassama, Pirlo, Aasgaard all were decent in the champ and looked like players until they took the step up to us and got found out big time.
I could add to that list. The championship might be a better league competitively but in terms of player ability its not any better. If the players from the championship are better then why do the majority fail in the SPL? Its simple, because they are not good enough.
