Joe Aribo will likely be available for £1.5m in January, would it be worthwhile making a move for him? Always liked him while he was at the club but I would say it's not an area that should be priority at this time. Good player and worth it, but maybe at the wrong time for us. Thoughts?

Don't know if a deal could be done but he is a lot better than most of the midfield players we have at the club and could add to the attacking side of our game. He's not bad as a stand in striker too as I recall.

really me2? i personally thought Aribo was a great player and a player we could really be doing with now.
Whether i'd actually have him back is another debate, not overtly keen on getting previous players to return but in 3 seasons he managed a league title, Scottish cup and a goal in a Europa league final.

My star, that is a reasonably accurate figure re Aribo.
With his signing on fee and bonuses he was on 52 k a week when we went to Seville, the lad had some agent. I remember speaking to a board member who said Aribo and Kent made a fortune because of Seville, the club were delighted to agree the addon because they did not think we would get to a European final.

Aribo was wanted/scouted by Arsenal and multiple others 2 years before we signed and was delighted/shocked when we signed him (I'm a Arsenal fan too) so that might explain why he was on a high wage.
Personally I'd love him back as he's the type of 10 we need but whenever I watched him for Southampton he looked gone, not enjoying himself and lost so we'd need to help him rediscover himself but can't blame him Martin played him at CB. Thought Asagaard would be like him but how wrong I was.

Imo aribo was a very good player at Rangers.

If he came back he'd get my support but for me is a symbol of the era he was here with so many players with inconsistent form and he was one of them but many others, Kent, Tav, Kamara, Goldson etc. would go through periods where he looked great for a few months and then look like he couldn't be bothered or ever seen a football before for months.
Great goal in Seville though. Those wage figures are crazy, never realised he was earning that.
