I really liked Dessers ab backed him but I honestly do think we would be top if he was here. We didn't make enough chances for any striker hopefully that's changing the last couple of games in league anyway.

If it was Rohl managing him all season yes, even Dessers would have struggled to score in martins team we created F all.

I was never a fan of his overall play, that said his goal tally over a season was decent, thought we saw the best of him under Ferguson, McCann and Dodds, he was more instinctive and led the line much better than during Clements time.
We haven't replaced his goals and I get why his name crops up.

Not for me, he didn't score enough League goals to be influential in the league standings. The way Miovski is playing the last few weeks he'll have a good chance of scoring more than CD did in his 1st season.
The issues for me is all over the park.
Butland is a wee bit of an issue.
Defence is still a big problem, with very few defensively solid players in there.
Midfield is a big problem with guys that do all there best work in their own half. We need a couple of quality 8/10s in there.
And in the forward line, Chermit doesn't look interested, and the wingers aren't contributing nearly enough.
Positives, I can see massive improvement in the system since DR came in. The build up play is far better and with players than have a better mentality I think he'll do well.

Agree with all you say zikos. there's a lot more to it than missing a striker. Chance creation has been our biggest issue and lack of brain cells in the defence (angus don't hit me with numbers please ?)
If we are not scoring as much due to creation issue we can't be gifting the goals we do concede at same time.

He took 1 in 3 chance we create very little anyone in the system under Martin so he would have struggled as well, Started to see improvement under Rohl so I'd expect Miovski etc to start grabbing more goals.
Once we shore up the back line buy at least 1 starting CB and get tav out the team we have a base to play from which will allow the team to play with more freedom imo.

He was a 25 goal a season striker. That's the figure i judge a striker by.

and half his goals (25) were scored in the league games (63) so he was almost a 1 in 2 striker in the league. he also created a lot of his own chances as we didn't do that well either in the 2 seasons he was here.

There are very little chances created for a striker like Dessers that needs 5+ chances a game to oscore 1 goal.
his goals tally looks good but if you actually look at when he scores. it didn't chance the outcomes of many game
obviously there were a couple games he got the winning goal but wasn't many. stats are the stats.

Ally I take it you are looking at the league stat which says he has a 22% shot conversion rate. the same stats which said Igamane had a 13% conversion stat and Cerny a 12% conversion stat.
as a comparison against the EPL the top scorers from same website had these conversion rates Isak: 23.2, Haaland (20%) Salah (22%) and Watkins 19%. yes a more difficult league but they are the best in that league so perhaps Dessers wasn't as poor at missing chances.
I also had a look at winning goals and in 23/24 he scored in 10 games where his goals were winning goals. using that season because as a comparison Shankland only scored the game winning goal.
so you are right the stats are the stats but you are better looking at them before you use them ? or at least give comparisons to prove your stats.
