Hi everyone, I think we all agree the two CHs are horrendous all round terrible. For me Butland needs telling too. I mean your 6ft 4, start dominating your area. Also the midfield aren't contributing at all. assists and goals not happening. Start shooting guys. Hopefully the manager can do some good work in the window and try and rectify this.

I agree our centre halfs are not the best but Butland has been a good signing for us on the whole.

My issue with Butland is, he is an experienced player.
So with a couple of inexperienced players in front of him, he should be talking them through games. And not puttin* them under unnecessary pressure with horrendous distribution.
Same with Tav. Captain and senior player. Should be more diligent in his defensive duties instead of wandering all over the place.

A lot of our issues stem from Butland.
A new GK, LCB and CDM would make a massive difference to the starting 11.
Will just be really difficult to do it in January.

Agree Butland has been a good signing but he does drive me up the wall with his reluctance to come for cross balls. He must know more than anyone how poor our defence is when dealing with crosses, i. e. full backs don't stop them and centre backs don't put their head on them. Take charge Jack.

He's a great shot stopper and overall a very good goalie - however he has three faults that really impact us on a regular basis.
1. His distribution is poor, which brings our defence and midfield deeper to get on the ball - which separates them from the front line.
2. He sits far to deep, more often than not in his six yard box - which again brings our defence and midfield deeper to protect the space - which separates them from our front line
3. He's not commanding from cross balls, more often than not he prefers to remain on his line.

EHL 100% agree. Also see it with loads of GKs nowadays. What happened to the mantra if it's a cross into the 6yrd box you come and take it?
Maybe it's just because tue Varga goal is fresh in my mind but I think we lose a lot of goals from inside the 6yrd box?

100% bang on the money mph, he's brutal. We need a keeper that has a mixture of both, good shot stopper, good distribution, not one that's superb at one and absolutely horrendous with the other. I don't remember a keeper making so many mistakes, outwith his kicking.

Thanks EHL. i'm old school and look for a goalie to make saves above else and he does that well, but I am probably naive in that regard.

WSL, not quite - used to watch McGregor prowling around the edge of the 18 yard box for most of the game - screaming and shouting at the defence, midfield and even the strikers of they got close enough.
He in many ways is the opposite of Butland.
