Is the Gerrard deal absolutely off?

Someone suggested he may have been being tactical?

It all seems rather strange.

I think it will be Danny Röhl now mate I wanted Gerrard and I'm gutted the more I read about Danny Röhl style of play I think it could work at ibrox apparently he's looking at ex Rangers men for the back room team and I believe that is a smart move from him he will need to hit the ground running.

12 Oct 2025 16:52:12
If the reason was he cannot work with Thelwell then maybe to powers are considering it .

12 Oct 2025 17:29:00
Slippy G wanted bags of money and freedom to bring in the players and staff he wanted.

That simply isn't happening when we've spent £20-40M on the Martin/ Thelwell circus.

12 Oct 2025 17:34:46
Does anyone actually believe he came into the interview process expecting Rangers to sack thelwell cause he said so or that he was unaware of thelwell working for Rangers until he got to the interview?

If he couldn't work with thelwell that would have been established early on. In my opinion it's more likely he's talked it over with the family and they've said its not the right time and he's chose to walk away. Not saying that's what's happened but that's more likely than the first two things I said.

12 Oct 2025 17:49:21
Novo he's quite entitled to ask for the money he needs to win trophies and compete in Europe.

If they gave him the job instead of wasting all that money in thelwell we wouldn't be in this mess.

AyrshireMurphy
Surely he must know that this would be his last chance to manage Rangers so would family and friends not be the first conversation you have before you fly over for talks.

12 Oct 2025 18:24:12
Novo did you just make that up?

12 Oct 2025 18:25:12
Gotta laugh man.

12 Oct 2025 19:11:29
Novo why are you calling a title winning manager slippy G? Pathetic behaviour.

12 Oct 2025 19:18:10
Slippy G?

12 Oct 2025 19:37:43
Strange to see a Rangers fan referring to "SlippyG"? That's usually how he's referred to in east of Glasgow circles.

12 Oct 2025 19:43:58
Novo10Rfc 20 to 40 mill?I think you'd be lucky if it was 7 mill net.

12 Oct 2025 19:56:26
Never noticed him saying slippy, better not say who's pattern that is.

12 Oct 2025 20:06:20
Aye, SlippyG is 'TimTalk' ™.

12 Oct 2025 20:41:19
Approx £8m net but Thelwell tried to spin £20m net.

12 Oct 2025 21:54:07
Does the 8m include the loans or signing on fees?

13 Oct 2025 02:58:50
Famous for slipping in a liverpool shirt but aye I must be a Hoop.

Side note this is a manager who left us in the lurch for Aston Villa and started this entire cycle of GVB, Beale, Clemont and Martin

Left us with an overpaid squad of dross that has taken years to shift largely unsuccessfully.

Granted he wasn't head of recruitment or whatever but he had huge sway.

13 Oct 2025 08:15:59
Of course Novo, Gerrards fault the board employed all the managers after lol

You've had enough Cremola foams today son.

If this is Slippy, I'll take a slip slide on that pitch anytime

Virtually every top player in the world when asked about Gerrard, have either said he was the most complete midfielder of all time or the best midfielder in the world during his peak era, capable of playing well inearly every big club in the world wanted peak Gerrard for the reasons above.

not to mention he could play 7 different positions well, Regularly used in 5 different positions, and performed best in 3 different positions.

But he slipped once and never won the EPL, didn't do well at Villa or the Saudi league so let's focus on that as his best assets and completely ignore the rest of the irrelevant stuff.

13 Oct 2025 09:26:45
Doing really poorly in his last two positions has to be the most relevant thing when discussing him coming back laudrup
How many positions he played is definitely not relevant.
