"When gerrard left we were champions, who went a full season unbeaten, Celtic hadn't lay a glove on us in 14 months, we were top of the league by 7 points, that year we went to Europa league final earning us millions, at the end of that season, we sold bassey and aribo for over 30 million, the start of the next season we made the champions league earning millions".

And yet he still walked out on us mid season?

09 Oct 2025 09:10:03
MPH there is no point.
People are entrenched in there positions my friend.

09 Oct 2025 09:13:14
To be closer to family, in all aspects he left us a million times stronger than. When he came in
In my opinion he will make us as one again and only then can you be successful.

09 Oct 2025 09:20:36
That is only natural Mph, any man in Scotland players and managers alike wants out as quick as possible, you always want tested at the highest level possible.

09 Oct 2025 09:25:08
If gerrard wasn't a good manager why are so many bothered that he left.

09 Oct 2025 09:26:06
Top part true ✔️
Second part true ✔️
What's your point?

09 Oct 2025 09:31:51
The English Premier League came calling. Aston Villa also had good. Money to spend. No manager is going to stay in Scotland if a club in the EPL comes calling.

09 Oct 2025 09:33:07
What about Rodgers mph that cool?

09 Oct 2025 09:48:31
That's deep down the real reason people don't want Gerrard cause of the way he left. Fair enough if that's the case but at least admit it instead of trying to pretend it was cause he did a poor job first time around. I assume you're not a fan of Steve Davis and Allan mcgreggor?

09 Oct 2025 09:55:49
Asathor and you're wanting an inexperienced man coming in, fgs, you're doing as much as anyone else, obviously can't see it though.

09 Oct 2025 10:03:09
No point in what asathor? Trying to convince people to have the same opinions as you. You really take the huff when people don't agree with you, get over yourself.
Mph i said it 4 months ago when all the chat was about, that i'm not totally sold on Gerrard, but the way some speak about our last title winning manager is poor imo, I'll always back him in those regards mate. After what we've just been through maybe it is just what we need, time will tell.

09 Oct 2025 10:04:15
He wasn't backed after we won the league and that's just a fact. He had the opportunity to move to a high profile PL club in Aston Villa whilst being closer to his family.
Rodgers and Postecoglou both jumped at the first opportunity as well. The pull of the PL is far too great, I'd expect any manager or player to do the same - especially if they'd achieved what they had set out to do and were rewarded with next to nothing.

09 Oct 2025 10:06:41
We honestly need to have perspective and stop thinking with our heart.

I was just as fuming and hated the man for at least a year or two after he left but I was speaking to a mate and he made very valid points so I thought about it and realised why he left.

1. EPL side who is offering much more wages and quality of the league
2. closer to his family
3. He knew he wasn't going to get any backing to improve the squad.

09 Oct 2025 10:09:57
He left to further his career.
I don't have a problem with that.
Most people would have done exactly the same.

09 Oct 2025 10:14:59
Tav that's a great question mate ?.

09 Oct 2025 10:16:49
MPH it was 4 points when he left not 7.

Wishy it's for two reason I don't want him but if he is appointed I'll back him.

1 the way he left us (then you have fans saying bring him home crap ? if it was home he wouldn't have left like that) .

2 his record is poor other than one trophy and I get it was the trophy we all wanted I get that but 8 other trophies he failed to win. He had a treble on a plate and failed.

It is debatable whether fans think he done a good job or not that's just each opinion and every one is different.

McGregor and Davis is completely irrelevant in this and ludicrous to bring those two into to try and suit your narrative.

09 Oct 2025 10:18:18
The point he is making is what would stop him leaving again at short notice. you all have just said it, if an opportunity down south came up any manager would go for it.

What has Steve Davis and Allan McGregor got to do with anything. what have they shown that makes them stand out coaches.

09 Oct 2025 11:17:18
Well geesa if he comes in gives the whole place a lift wins another title and an excellent opportunity comes up for him and he leaves then so be it, that's football, you want him to stay for 20 years? Doesn't happen in football anymore mate. If you were playing in Scotland and an opportunity came for you to go to England to further your career on 4/ 5 times your wage would you knock it back?

09 Oct 2025 11:52:06
Gees, He needs to be a success at Rangers first, he moves on again i certainly what hold it against him, probably one of the few that didn't after he moved onto Villa, again, you want tested at the highest level possible.

09 Oct 2025 12:23:52
Correct mystar he will only move on to bigger things if successful, people maybe forget to think about that ?.
