Don't fully understand a lot of the "we must go Scottish" arguments for McInnes and Robinson. The majority of their careers have been based on playing the low block or playing more defensive tactics. There's nothing much to show they can instil an attacking tactic that brings good football against these tactics. It's just as much a gamble than going for a foreign manager that can play attack minded.

Doesn't matter who gets the job now, they've lost before they've started with a lot, going by some of the drivel i've read.

If it is Rohl, so be it. Get behind him, get behind the team and hope it works out (with the added bonus of Thelwell leaving at some point in among all that) .

Sorry Amo but your claim has no basis regarding going Scottish.

Personally I think that it would be beneficial for the new Head Coach to have someone within their senior team with experience of Scottish football.

Although our league isn't unique, very few head coaches / managers that we be linked with will have experience of facing teams who are as organised and comfortable playing in the mid / low block.

Historically, it was easier to break these down as clubs like Rangers had a considerable advantage in terms of fitness. However, the gap in terms of fitness between the 'big' clubs and the rest has been reduced significantly over the last 5 years.

The first 15-20 minutes are more important in our games than in the vast majority of other games in other leagues. We aren't in a battle to try and control the game (like Martin thought) - in many ways that's a given. We are in a race to get an early goal, early bookings and to be as disruptive as possible.

That would be an added bonus for sure amo, tbf though the low block was mainly against us or the darkside. It could go the other way and they struggle to play against a low block though, every candidate is a risk mate imo, but they all beat martin hands down for me.

Wouldn't worry Amo. John said Cavanaugh wants a non Brit.

I've not noticed Hearts playing with a low block, understandable the St Mirren's and Kilmarnock play that way as it is a way to play to their strengths, McInnes and Robinson with better players at their disposal would play to their strengths I would say,
Fair enough if you don't fancy a particular manager but don't agree with your take.

13 Oct 2025 13:26:39
Robinsons not Scottish and I don't think McInnes would take the job anyway if the same restrictions were put on him as they were apparently putting on Gerrard.
They want a Head Coach not a manager.

Rosevale, McInnes set up at Ibrox with a low block and came away with the three points.

13 Oct 2025 13:49:23
What do you's think the chances of Robinson accepting a number two role to someone like a Rohl?

13 Oct 2025 14:18:48
Shankland goal had a part to play as well EHL.

So did Souttar header, could have won that game, but it should have been a minimum of a draw, with ruling his header out, but that was so soft.

13 Oct 2025 14:26:05
Wishy would love that mate, next manager sitting waiting.

13 Oct 2025 13:20:14
Cheers Defoe, you really added some good information there as to why it has no basis, really insightful.

McInnes and Robinson have never been in a position where they are expected to play attractive, attacking football game in game out, that's my point. Even at Hearts, they're top of the league, but scraping by in some games i've watched (including against us with the help of VAR) .

All the talk of they know the league etc. has no context if they don't know how to play against a low block. Which they've had little experience of cause teams don't play it against St. Mirren, Aberdeen, Hearts, Kilmarnock or St Johnstone.

13 Oct 2025 13:22:28
I don't disagree with having any of them at the club, providing they can play attacking football like we want to see and most demand. That's where i think a Manager with a good grounding of attacking style with a coach with Ranger's experience is key, over a manager with league experience.

13 Oct 2025 13:24:07
Thats the big if though Rosevale, do they play differently if they have better players. do they know how to beat the low block that the other teams will set up for sure. ofcourse we don't know the answer to that until its tried. but if we needed better than mcinnes before the summer then why is he good enough now?
