I think whoever comes in destined to fail unless they have full control of transfer activity which I don't think they will. Yes it's ok signing youngsters with potential for sell on fees but we can't have a team of them. We need an experienced team with maybe a couple of young potential players each season. I think chermiti will come good in the end but how do we make a profit on him unless he banging in about 40 a season. Riches of the champions league is where our focus should be, not on potential players that may or may not fulfill expectation.

Davie, i personally don't like the structure we have, although i do understand it. If we bring another manager in and he fails do we just sack him and move on to the next one? When do we look at the actual guy that's bringing these players in?
Now forget about Gerrard i'm over that, he's gone, but i think we should be flexible in regards to this to give potential managers the best chance at the job, same as we would want our managers to be flexible in regards to playing to the players strengths. Just my opinion i get others will differ.

When we had Beale, Clement etc., we said managers can't have full control of transfers now we are saying managers needs it? Fickle fans indeed. People in charge can't win.
We are getting a manager it's a head coach so a head coach shouldn't have full control.

A manager should always have the final say. Head coach is the wrong route to go.

Before people didn't want managers to have control in case they get sacked now they want the manager to have full control ?.

It's a model that has existed in mainland Europe for decades - and one that most of the most successful clubs use.
It's relatively new to British football, but is now very much the norm in England.
Personally I still think our transfer business has been good, and in 3-4 months we'll be back to debating how many millions our inform players will go for.

Set up is what owners want and works at most other clubs, yes coach has to have input but not total control.
The biggest problem we have is Therwell he is incompetent to say the least, how do we trade to make profits with the amount we have spent on loan signings and probably the most expensive hardly getting game.

The head coach route requires competence in every role to support this structure. We don't have that competence and was a major reason why SG said no.
