Reading some of the hysterical comments online today over thelwell junior is OTT. This is what change looks like something we all wanted only months ago. The owners obviously have put in place changes they feel are needed and let's be honest it's not as though we are replacing successful guys for Rangers and we need to trust these guys because we have no alternative.

Yes we can question Thelwell and recruitment, but this narrative the owners don't care and have let Stewart and Thelwell run the club as they want is just ludicrous. If this goes wrong ive no doubt the current group will pay by losing their job, but sometimes we moan for the sake of it because it's been such a horrific period for the team. Let's give junior a chance and the boy from Norwich atm we have no other option.

You really have got to be kidding?

01 Oct 2025 20:25:02
If we were winning on the pitch there wouldn't be this much of a negative reaction to this news. Some are just constantly raging about Rangers.

Onewalter I actually agree with you on this

There money men they don't want to lose their investment
They are obviously going to take their time on this and think us fans are going to have to wait it out and see what unfolds
Nothing is happening overnight and there already showing they can stick to there guns

guess we will have to trust it until proven otherwise!

we weren't going to have a club left if the takeover never happened we all knew that and agreed on it
Let's just wait and see where it goes

Martin not the right guy but he's not going anywhere at the minute so just have to see what the board decide as each result comes in week on week!

Ows, you don't find this a wee bit strange mate? Have you seen martins presser?

01 Oct 2025 20:30:40
Well said OWS.

As part of the takeover, the owners commissioned a full review of football operations - this highlighted where we were underperforming as a club.

It's effectively Thelwells job to deliver this and their job to support him.

When Koppen was Technical Director he had a really clear vision of how to deliver this and it was very much aligned to how clubs in Belgium, Holland, France and Portugal operate - as this is what he knew.

Thelwell has a very different vision, one that's aligned to the English model. Which is very different to the route that Koppen was taking. Thelwell needs to be given time tonight implement it - however I understand the concerns given his choice of head coach.

The retrospective love if Koppen is interesting, as when we were losing under Clement and Ferguson - Koppen was equally as hated.

Now it seems that we're doing the same with everyone associated with Martin.

Aren't we lucky to have Thelwell Snr AND Junior … what a coincidence that the Thelwell family can produce two super talented football people . I wonder if there's a sister who could do the carrying ?.

01 Oct 2025 21:01:02
Is it OTT? The problem we have is we've shopped in one market except Antman and Cornelis because its a market Thelwell and Purdy know, to address that they are hiring 2 more who know the English market. We now have 3 ex-Everton recruiters who were a mess up with them there and the other from Norwich who have been stuck in the same place for years and I can't say I've heard of anyone leaving for big money except for Sainz.

Koppen had 1 proper transfer window, shopped multiple markets from the start, had to cut for wages and sell before buying. The board negotiated the deal for Cortes and Propper was definitely better than Djiga.

Very well put EHL. Summed up nicely.

01 Oct 2025 21:35:00
I myself may have overreacted a lil bit, mainly because of the rubbish show we are seeing.

However I do think the fanbase would be onboard for the most part with Thelwell's nepotism IF they were to make a change of 'head coach' - RM at the very least needs removed.

01 Oct 2025 21:35:26
Correct EHL sanity at last.

01 Oct 2025 21:45:31
This happens over and over Lisbon, normally in the player department.

01 Oct 2025 22:05:49
Nope not buying all this ?, the way forward doesn't include nepotism or Everton cast offs, u telling me this is the way forward, hiring sons and former colleagues for positions identified in the assessment of what's required.

01 Oct 2025 22:08:14
Ehl thelwell needs time? Are you serious him and his son need to get out of our club.
I can't believe any Rangers fan would be ok with this just my opinion.

Asathor I normally agree with you but sanity?! Really it's insane to think this is ok my club is now a laughing stock because of these idiots.

01 Oct 2025 22:14:42
Ano troops relax, the guy that should have been sacked weeks ago for his part in the head coach and absolutely awful recruitment, has only brought his son in to transform us. I don't understand why so many are angry ??????????????????????????????.

01 Oct 2025 22:31:37
Storm do you think villa where he was a top scout and wolves hired junior because of who his dad was?

01 Oct 2025 22:36:08
Actually lost for words….

01 Oct 2025 22:39:48
More interested than how he got the Wolves EPL technical gig at 17, something stinks.

01 Oct 2025 23:01:08
How did he get a job when only 17 year old at Wolves ows? he would need to be exceptional mate, I do think him getting that job at age did have something to with his father, he does have a bit of experience now and hopefully does know what he is doing, Ed001 have you heard anything about him?

{Ed001's Note - I know nothing about him sorry, but wouldn't he have got the job at Wolves through his dad when he was there?}

01 Oct 2025 23:34:27
Are you lot who are backing this appointment serious? So we didn't want Ancelotti because he was only getting it because his dad but we are happy to appoint Thelwell Jr because his daddy joined a big club! The man has done nothing to warrant this role and his dads judgement is quite rightly already being questioned.

OWS he worked under his daddy at Wolves - He has also had scouting spells with Aston Villa and Wolverhampton Wanderers, where his dad was sporting director!

Not qualified in the slightest to be head of recruitment unless it's signing duds from England just like the rest of our recruitment.

01 Oct 2025 23:46:53
Fork, I'm sure it's completely unrelated, but his Dad was Sporting Director at Wolves from August 2016.

02 Oct 2025 00:23:51
Ed001 that's what I'm meaning mate.

{Ed001's Note - sorry, I am half asleep so wasn't really thinking. He has not got any kind of quantifiable record at all that I can see. Seems as odd an appointment as Newcastle appointing Eddie Howe's nephew as director of football for the summer. Maybe it is the new way to get your kids and relatives work experience?}
