Marco Rose not being considered and was never an option this time around.
Rohl and Gerrard appear to be the preferred options.

Not sure on Gerrard's situation with the family living in Bahrain but suspect there is enough noise in the media to suggest he is in fact interested in returning.

I wouldn't be against Dyche or Muscat. The challenge can't be underestimated - the pressure, scutiny, physicality of the game and the mentality required.
They won't get time to settle, they need results now.

06 Oct 2025 17:41:50
Think danny rohl would be a total disaster.

06 Oct 2025 17:42:11
I know Rohl is well thought of as a young up and coming manager but I don't think we can go down the project route again.

06 Oct 2025 17:46:41
TrueBlue, do you expect an announcement soon?

I'd like to think we'll have someone in for the game after the international break.

06 Oct 2025 18:04:09
Don't know why there's not more noise about knutsen he would definitely be in our price range and may know of some gems in the scandanavian region and in the past have done us a turn.

06 Oct 2025 18:13:16
Of those names listed above, I'm taking Gerrard.

06 Oct 2025 18:15:21
Because Knutsen doesn't want to leave. He's in his comfort zone in Norway. He's already turned down moves to clubs bigger than ours.

06 Oct 2025 18:18:14
If Rose not even being considered then that's another big mistake by the current lot in charge.

06 Oct 2025 18:20:31
Donny It's probably because we have absolutely nothing to offer Knutsen that other clubs haven't offered already.

He's comfortable where he is.

06 Oct 2025 18:22:47
I'm convinced the Derek McInnes should be talked to. Anyone else think that?

06 Oct 2025 18:29:42
Rohl - absolutely comical that this name keeps coming up.

06 Oct 2025 18:31:58
Gerrard for me as well, Mark. Been there, done it. No more projects.

06 Oct 2025 18:42:58
The owners. "a great deal of work is progressing across the club building out a stable leadership and football structure under Patrick and Kevin's guidance"

So there you are we still have big problems.

06 Oct 2025 18:43:44
Rose, I believe is well out of our budget.

Knutsen prefers a contract where he gets a % of player sales - I believe that's why he never went to Ajax or Spurs when they were interested.

Gerard - is a no from me.

McInnes or Dyche would be sensible options to stabilise the club.

Rohl would be my preference from those mentioned above.

06 Oct 2025 18:50:38
Should be McInnes but would he want to take the risk?

06 Oct 2025 19:00:40
Rohl would be afforded no time, he will be seen as another project with a poor record that will be brought up whenever there is a hiccup.

Dyche will get the jobs for
The boys revolt when bad results happen, lazy appointment tag unless he's successful.

The fanbase are going to have to want to get all in on next guy and although I haven't wanted it until now Gerrard is that guy…a couple others namely muscat and maybe mcinnes would also get some grace with most of fans.

06 Oct 2025 19:02:31
EHL can ask why Rohl what brand of football would he implement? The reason I ask is I know absolutely nothing about the guy and I think another poster on this site said he only had a 38% win ratio which isn't that great.

06 Oct 2025 19:03:35
Think Rohl to similar to RM, would love Muscat but would take Gerrard in a heartbeat.

06 Oct 2025 19:06:34
Wouldn't go near Rohl, another unproven coach who we would be replacing this time next year if he even lasted that long.
I would take Gerrard every day of the week before McInnes, he has proven he knows how to win the league not just have a good start . This time last season some wanted Thelin to replace Clement based on a good start, now his job is under threat.

06 Oct 2025 19:10:09
Often wonder why David Healy is never considered, he knows how to put a team on the park that constantly wins and with us having a bigger budget surely he'd win things here - not saying he's the no.1 choice, just wonder why he's never mentioned.

06 Oct 2025 19:12:15
I think Rohl is a promising young manager, but I'd feel for him if he got the job as it's not really the time for projects. I certainly don't think he'd be like Martin.

As long as there's a clear method, he can adapt, his man management is good and he shows the right attitude I'm willing to give him time.

Ideally we'd be getting an experienced manager with a bit about him but it's all depends on budget and who is interested. I just feel bringing back Gerrard is a bit sentimental, we need to move on.

06 Oct 2025 19:19:31
No way in 2 million years McInnes will jump to us!

06 Oct 2025 19:26:22
Edin Terzic is currently available or is his proposed salary too much?

06 Oct 2025 19:35:45
Can I ask apart from being highly thought of what has Rohl ever achieved? Don't know much about him.

06 Oct 2025 19:43:52
Delboy isn't leaving hearts for us, no one in their right mind would. I doubt he's got the right mentality for it anyways. Knocked it back before. My guess is because he didn't back himself to be a success. Gerrard all the way for me.

06 Oct 2025 19:51:08
Im not 100% convinced on Rohl, another mistake, need a leader or someone with genuine gravitas.

06 Oct 2025 20:03:24
Mark - given no interim is in place and the fact the club made us aware they had contingency plans (they knew this day was coming) I'd imagine it will be a swift appointment.

They have their candidates selected, it's a matter of formally interviewing and selecting one. Terms for candidates will roughly be agreed prior to this. That's why Rose won't be considered as EHL highlighted.

The only concern I have about Rohl is nothing to do with his ability. It's more the culture he's coming into. Expectation and pressure, can he cope with it? And would fans be patient with him? Maybe they would have been had he been in charge from the start instead of Martin. Not an ideal scenario to come into. Might require an experienced leader to handle it.

It seems fans may only be happy if it's Gerrard or Muscat. I'm not convinced Gerrard definitely wants it from what I've been told.

06 Oct 2025 20:08:16
Rohl turned Sheffield Wednesday around when he went there, I have a few friends who support them and they raved about him. Said as soon as he came in was an instant improvement.

Things turned sour in the end due to the wages issue but by all means they loved him.

Downside is that his experience is limited to that, difficult to judge if it was a one off or not.

06 Oct 2025 20:32:41
Rohl - please no? - better with a board of rolls and block of square sausage?.

06 Oct 2025 20:35:25
Gerrard going to be odds on by tomorrow, he's best they can get that's out of work. unless Thelwell has a cousin or some other connection.

06 Oct 2025 20:15:54
I quite fancy Muscat as our next manager. Has done pretty well in Asia winning some leagues and cups and is held in high regard over there. The most important thing for me is they must have a set vision of how they want to play and can adapt their style to accommodate the players we have.

They must also respect our traditions ie wearing a suit on match day. We can't go mediocre again, Martin was average at best as a player and worse as a manager.

06 Oct 2025 20:25:23
Gersgeo I know Healy's no 2 Ross Oliver very well. Good friend of mine. Cracking lad from Monkstown. They've never even had an approach from League 1 or The Championship which given their record is quite strange.

06 Oct 2025 20:28:49
I have concerns if it's Rohl, he would have been manager if Thelwell had not put Martin to top of the pile.
I could be very wrong but him and Martin are one in the same.

06 Oct 2025 21:18:04
If Thelwell gets this appointment wrong again, he won't survive.

06 Oct 2025 21:18:51
Ehl. Total common sense as always

McCinnes or dyche would do exactly that.
Simple things first. Stability and build from that.

I wouldn't be against either.

Gerrard my choice. Glad rose is a no. Hope to god it's not rohl.

06 Oct 2025 21:24:58
Honestly what is it with Gerrard. We don't want a project but you want Gerrard. That would imply he is the finished article.
In that's case if he is the finished article. We are screwed. He won 1 trophy against a poor Celtic team and failed at his next two posts.
This argument he brought standards. Great, still only won 1 trophy.
He knew how to beat Celtic. Big deal still only won 1 trophy.
He is not good enough. That is proven.

06 Oct 2025 21:27:38
Martin's failing wasn't down to experience - it was down to the fact that he was blinded by his philosophy and thought he was smarter than he actually was.

Rohl isn't a philosophy coach - he's on record saying the opposite, that it's his preference to identify systems that suit the players.

06 Oct 2025 23:26:39
Gerard steadies the ship and wins games whilst getting us back on Euro track.

07 Oct 2025 01:13:53
100% correct PH great post mate.

McInnes won't leave hearts either.

07 Oct 2025 02:31:30
Rohl is another carbon copy of martin rubbish playing career and done nowt as manager if anything martin more qualified than rohl.

07 Oct 2025 08:48:16
Fans will always be against McInnes for turning it down before but forget that Walter was the one that advised him against it at the time. I wouldn't be against giving him a shot but I just don't see him leaving Hearts when he could make history with them this season if they continue their form. He also has the advantage of not being in Europe this season making it a bit harder to catch them. Concerning part for me is that there is no candidate that every fan agrees on, so they will be up against it from the beginning.
