I read a lot and love the opinions of all, whether I agree or not lol
I am curious as to why people want Gerrard back though.
Gerrard (64.77%) had less wins than warburton (67.07%), McCoist (72.46%) and even Beale (72.09%) . Gerrard (13.99%) had higher losses than Ferguson (13.33%) with his teams scoring less per game than McCoist, warburton, murty, Beale or clement.
He won only 1 of 9 trophies over 3 years albeit he won a league title and an important one but that was during a covid season with no fan pressure and they brought back Lennon ?
His records at villa and in Middle East aren't great reading.
I can't see how he will work with them well (who I think is a real problem), he'll want his own players but how will that fit with the clubs model of develop with sell on vision etc.
Personally I think GIO was a better coach, ROSE has managed at a higher level, KNUTTSEN is a superb manager achieving a lot with less resources than we have and MCINNES knows how to setup a team to compete in Scotland. All of these would be better choices than Gerrard.
Now the fans are calling for Gerrard, what happens if we get our wish and it fails how can anyone complain at that point, I don't expect any calls for sacking him if it's going badly as this is what a lot of fans asked for.
I'll back whoever is in charge but I think it's the easy option not really the best one.

Gerrard elevated us the quickest out of all the coaches mentioned. In terms of stature, financial income and profile. This is why he is remembered fondly. He ended the 'banter years'.
Warburton and Mccoist had a high win % due to the lower leagues. Beale put us back 3 years with the signings made. Clement and Gio were good coaches but we must remember the bad times were really bad under them.

Gerrard is a manager not a coach, he will bring a 1st team coach and team with him. He is a winner and will raise standards and attract better players. Warburton competed in lower leage, Gio inherted SGs squad and Beale spent 20 million so apples and oranges. One thing is for sure SG won the league, battered Celtic, got us in Europe every season and Gio took SGs squad to the Euro final. He will rasie our profile as he is one of the most famous footballers in the world. I don't see any negatives. I can garuntee on ething had we appointed SG in the summer we would not be sitting on 8 points. RM was the easy choice.

Knusten, rose and mcinnes aren't coming here and won't come here so talking about them is pointless.
comparing gerrards loss percentage to ferguson is daft, ferguson had 15 games in charge gerrard had nearly 200. Gerrard went on around about 50 league games unbeaten domestically including a league where we didn't lose one single game. Why does this continuously get looked down upon ? it's bonkers.
i don't understand the argument of no fan pressure? Every single team had no fans, so surely every single team had no fan pressure? why is it just an advantage for gerrard and nobody else? if it shows anything it shows that the coaching was on point as it would be the players who are affected by no fans?
i liked gio but he had us getting embarrassed by Celtic most games and i guarantee you would have been calling for his sack the same time as everyone else. I also liked clement but when the fans at ibrox turn and everyone wants them out then what choice does a board have but to sack the manager?
I am curious, when gerrard left where you happy? so we could get a better coach/ manager in? someone like gio/ clement? coaches who started off with a much stronger hand the gerrard did.

Basically I want Gerrard back because he's Steven Gerrard. He knows the league he knows the club and will have the players running through a brick wall for him. He is not here for the money he's here for the hunger and the need to win. Hopefully he brings Gary Mac, Defoe and Davo with him, guys who support the club who have all played at the highest level.

I'm not going to argue any of your points.
I'd just like to add, though while I can't say with 100% certainty it seems that Rose, McInnes, and Knutsen don't want the job. If that's the case, they can't really be part of the discussion beyond saying they could have been better options.
I'd have loved Mourinho, Rose, or Knutsen too, but if they don't want it or if we can't afford them then there's no point debating them.
So at this stage, the only realistic comparison for Gerrard is against candidates who would actually take the job, and right now, it looks like Rohl might be the only one we know about.
Unless anyone can add any others in we know want it?

Basically for me it was russel martin mate, the man has suffocated the squad. I think we have some talented players, including a few young scottish players in cameron and barron who will improve under sg and gary mac like ryan jack did.
A few new players are struggling like aasgard and antman but they are performing well for their national team
Service to forward players has been non existant, espescially under martin but not exclusivley, big dessers cut a frustrated figure for a large part of his time here because of it, we weren't perfect under sg but morelos got plenty of chances. I have felt quite sorry for the boy chermiti, pressure by a price tag that wasn't his doing, he's not done much admittedly, but again, he's not had much service to speak of, but he has good youth pedigree so i'm hoping he kicks on
I feel his biggest issue will be his defence, that should have been priority imo in the summer before anywhere else and will cost him a game or 2 no doubt.
I feel he left us stronger than he found us, and if he is backed i think he will again
I wouldn't be unhappy with rohl, myscat or mcinnes either, all 4 would improve what martin did (as would alan rough)

Would certainly expect SG sides to score less than warbs and super ally. ?? good stats to suit the argument failing to mention lower leagues. Rangers hitting stenny for 8 at ibrox is hardly comparable.

Mcoist lower league's, Warburton lower league's, gio had Gerrard squad so not really getting your point. Your speaking as if the fans are picking the manager, we definitely aren't russell martin speaks to that. Our owners will pick the right man for the job, if not they shouldn't be here. We as paying fans can always complain as like I said we don't pick the manager.
