For me this is a huge mistake by Cavanagh n Marathe if they are nailing their colours to Thelwell being in control of ANY coach/ managers chance to get their own players in.

My thoughts too Fork, feels like good old Kev wouldn't let go of his power trip to destroy us!

Fork they are not nailing their colours to Thelwell.
They are however maintaining the structure that they have put in place.
I said at the start for someone like Gerrard or Kjetil to come to the club they would need to rip up all plans and structures.

They do not want a yes man and Thelwell is as dispensable as any manager but they do want to keep their chosen pyramid.

Danny Rohl is no yes man
Slaven Bilic is no yes man
Bo Svensson is no yes man.

But are all familiar with the European club structure specifically German structure.

Agree fork, Thelwell is going to be a major problem in our club going forward, should have went with the greatest manager he'd ever worked with.

Agreed Fork mate!

Thelwell is a clown, who needs run right out of our club. Stevie G probably seen right through him, and alarm bells were blaring.

100% fork
Can't agree enough with you
I'm worried genuinely of what's going to unfold with them never mind the coach/ manager if there dictating who we go for player wise ?.

We don't know why it's not happening all we know is SG has walked away again. He is to blame.

11 Oct 2025 22:35:17
I get the structure side Asa but something doesn't sit right with Thelwell for me, rigidity to that ideal may cost us in the long run. ?.

11 Oct 2025 22:38:54
I said similar Asa.

And for what it's worth, EHL and I had this discussion in one of the lives about McIness as well. He's also more of an old school manager than head coach too, so unlikely to be interested for similar reasons (among many others, he has a good job at Hearts already) .

In this structure, we'll never see another Walter. But this is the structure the owners have chosen and it's their money-they bought the club so can do as they please.

Also, FWIW, I'm not concerned about Rohl because I think he a yes man, my concern is purely around his singular experience in the championship. I think that's a valid concern, given the size of the task, but if it is him he'll get my support same as Martin did (till it became so obvious it was never going to work with him) .

Why can't they rip up an arbitrary structure?

They ripped apart the vision Koppen was building and went shopping in England.

Kevin Thelwell should have got out of the way.

Surely this is the owners decision to stick to the structure, as there's no way there giving thelwell free reign after martin, surely? I think the owners always knew they were sticking to the structure, but had talks with Gerrard to see if they could come to some sort of agreement, which they obviously couldn't. I've always believed that the manager should have more say over signings as it's always his head on the chopping block as we seen with martin, while thelwell still seems ball deep.
