Rangers have narrowed down Russell Martin's potential replacement to 4 names.
As it stands nobody has been sounded out but 4 names have been agreed on.
Two English and two German.
Dyche and Gerrard for the well organised, hard to beat and figure head type manager that Rangers has been built on.
Rohl and Terzic for the footballing philosophy that the new owners want at our club.
Been told it's a 50/50 split on what direction we will move with. Told few board room/ shareholders are eager to go back to what Rangers was built on.
23 Sep 2025 01:43:02
Aye mate no worries.
23 Sep 2025 07:11:04
No reason to doubt anyone who's only passing on what they've heard/ been told by someone that's info they trust ?Daniel, i take it you trust your reliable source mate ?.
23 Sep 2025 07:26:41
Think the win at hearts paperedovef some obvious cracks, n bought Martin Time, I won't be long to his ego spasms back or another big fallout. One cup win and no domestic wins so far just isn't good enough for any Rangers manager
With the firepower we have we really shouldn't be struggling or as he eludes to scared to play at home
Bollox
No matter what he's just not the man for task at hand
One win here n there ain't Rangers calibre, it should be other way around with occasional loss her n there
No one fears coming to ibrox any more that's brutal
We need to be a dominant force domestically n I honestly don't think he's the man to deliver that.
23 Sep 2025 07:31:25
So hypothetically speaking here guys if Daniel Cousin Loyal's into is spot on and the 4 possible next Rangers manager's drawn up in a contingency plan to replace russell martin are ie. Sean Dyche, Steven Gerrard, Edin Terzic and Danny Rohl,
which one of these 4 manager's/ head coaches would you prefer and why ?.
23 Sep 2025 07:57:46
SWS - Still Danny Rohl for me and would imagine Bibbo would be able to offer some good insight.
23 Sep 2025 07:57:57
The squad looks decent if rm changes his style just a little bit I think we will start winning games.
23 Sep 2025 08:35:24
Not doubting the rumour but if I read it right the club have agreed on 4 names to write down on a bit of paper, probably headed to make it look official ?. but we don't know if any of the are interested as they haven't been spoken to to say they would be interested.
also I assume the list doesn't include any of the previous 3 mentioned last time as they were sounded out so don't meet the criteria given here.
not doubting as I say just thinking out aloud.
23 Sep 2025 08:54:09
Not doubting for a second that danny rohl isn't a good young coach EHL, but imo we can't take a chance with a young inexperienced coach as the size of our manager/ head coach job could swallow him up with massive expectations placed upon him ? IMO we need to crawl before we can run and have to go for an experienced, well structured manager who'll first and foremost make us very hard to beat and build from the back in being solid ? That's the type of manager we need now at this moment in time for the short to medium term ?.

Rumours
A rumour is an unverified piece of information or story that circulates among people. Its truthfulness is not confirmed and it often changes as it is passed from person to person.
The nature and impact of rumours
Psychological motivations
People spread and believe rumours for various psychological and social reasons:
To relieve anxiety: In uncertain situations, people may create or spread rumours to fill in gaps of information and feel more secure.
For social gain: Spreading information can make a person feel like an "insider, " increasing their sense of inclusion and power within a social group.
Due to low self-esteem: Some people put others down through gossip and rumours to temporarily feel better about themselves.
To seek revenge: Malicious rumours can be used to retaliate against someone the rumour-spreader is jealous of or angry with.
Negative consequences
Spreading rumours can have damaging effects on individuals and communities:
Harm to reputation: False or exaggerated information can damage a person's credibility and professional standing.
Mental and emotional distress: Being the target of rumours can cause anxiety, stress, depression, and social isolation.
Erosion of trust: Rumours breed mistrust among colleagues or friends, damaging relationships and making people more guarded.
Decreased productivity: In a workplace, a toxic environment fueled by rumours can lower morale and reduce focus.
How to handle rumours
If you are the subject of a rumour, experts offer several strategies:
Don't participate in the drama. Ignore the gossip and continue your routine. Giving it attention is often what fuels it.
Confront the source directly and calmly, if you know who started it. Tell them that you don't appreciate what they're saying and ask them to stop.
Get trusted friends on your side. They can help shut down the rumour when you aren't present.
Deny the rumour's truth if asked, but avoid going out of your way to defend yourself, as this can make you look guilty.
So instead of "I heard from a Friend" or " I know someone in the directors box" Just start with "rumour has it"
23 Sep 2025 10:08:32
Stevie G a no brainer, for me at least.
23 Sep 2025 10:51:29
Yeah I trust the person that told me.
For me SWS, I completely agree on Rohl.
Either one of the English guys before the Germans.
If it had to be a German it would be Terzic for me.
23 Sep 2025 11:04:34
John2575,I'm with you we have a manager, let's support him fully, till the day he's not a manager, in another point of discussion., should the ubs lose 500 tickets for final as its there pros lost us the tickets?
23 Sep 2025 11:07:17
SWS if it was between they choices i would say Edin Terzic.
I maintain Marco Rose would be the best fit.
23 Sep 2025 11:13:49
Seeker from those 4 managers it would be steven gerrard or sean dyche for me mate, hands down ???.
23 Sep 2025 12:02:54
It would be Stevie G for me from that shortlist. The sooner, the better before the season is a write-off.
23 Sep 2025 12:21:42
What did SG do apart from win one title during covid and had players on crazy contracts. every time El Buff said he wanted away he was rewarded with higher wages. him and a few others salaries are what nearly broke us and the result was not getting new faces in.
GVB couldn't sign players for Champions League as we had no money even though we were crippled with injuries and had to play the weekest backline we ever had.
If he wasn't SG he wouldn't have got 3 years from the fans, indeed if it wasn't for covid he would have been sacked. us fans have short memories.
23 Sep 2025 12:24:43
Soz ment hibs.
23 Sep 2025 12:34:16
What was the deal with Terzic last time
He wasn't interested?
Family?
Or was never asked?
Would he be interested this time around?
What's his current circumstances?
23 Sep 2025 12:34:25
I would go with Sean Dyche, with younger coaches around him, a couple of Scots preferably.
He has a reputation for being negative but he did what he had to do at Everton.
He bases his teams on a strong defence with defenders who like to be aggressive and make tackles and blocks.
He generally sets up with two midfielders who like to win the ball get it wide quickly .
He usually plays with two wingers who like to get crosses in early.
He usually plays with strikers who win balls in the air and that get in amongst defenders.
It all sound pretty basic but if we did that well, we would blow away opposition in Scotland and that's where we are currently falling down.
23 Sep 2025 13:16:12
I still have a feeling Derek McInnes will be our next manager ?.
23 Sep 2025 13:56:42
Geese, you answered your own question, Stevie G won a title and the only one we've won in well over a decade. He also oversaw a massive improvement in our team and European performances and brought respect back to the club after the Progres debacle. I'm pretty sure it was Wilson and the board that would have signed off on players contracts and when they would be sold etc, even if he had input, so i'm not sure how he can be blamed for that. I was dead against Gerrard coming back before RM was appointed, but given how the RM experiment has gone, I'm warming to the idea that Gerrard should be the next man in charge. He would instantly get respect and raise the standards around the club and I would guess that the majority of fans would give him some time to get us back to where we want to be and winning the league.
23 Sep 2025 13:57:12
Terezic is the best out of all mentioned there. Dyche may have experience but even when given money and half decent side in Everton he still played his dinosaur football and had them struggling. We need a manager that can adapt to different situations.
23 Sep 2025 14:45:22
If choice between 4
Dyche. would be first pick managed at decent level knows how to make a team hard to beat
Gerrard . drove wage bill up last time pushed for player raises at slightest bit form however new board and he's maybe now realised what he had at Rangers wouldn't be put off by him
Rohl . being a vwry young manager would leave us at the first big opportunity
Terzic . similar to rohl would leave at first big opportunity
But personally i'd put mcinnis above all of them again i think his experience and fact he wouldn't jump ship if he did well we need a manager that remains in place for years to come. don't think we should overlook him again.
23 Sep 2025 15:03:31
Forever all 4 would
Leave us given the opportunity of a bigger league.
23 Sep 2025 15:17:46
I'm really glad our basketcase fans aren't in charge of decisions. Gerrard was a failure and has failed since, nothing more nothing less - not fit to be manager of our club again. Dyche? The exact opposite of what we need, we're not trying to become hammer throwers like the rest of the league it needs forward thinking and attack minded football. "We need a solid defence" is scraping the barrel of football acumen and shouldn't be the philosophy of a team like Rangers.
Give yourselves piece man.
23 Sep 2025 15:32:22
Asa what is your thoughts on Roger Schmidt?
23 Sep 2025 15:51:41
Stig.
I don't even think he was in the running for the job. The only talk of him being in the running for the job was on here.
23 Sep 2025 17:24:46
Forza, an interesting post. We're basketcase fans because we have a different opinion to you. Very odd. I would agree that Gerrard has a had a poor record since he left us, but he has won an undefeated and supremely important league title with us which is more than any of the 4 candidates mentioned in the opening post or RM has won. Everyone is entitled to their opinion.
23 Sep 2025 18:45:21
At least two of that 4 are not head coaches, so would this mean another structure change?
23 Sep 2025 19:02:04
Rabbi Roger is a great manager but I believe he wishes to return to Germany if possible.
23 Sep 2025 19:11:56
Can't be bothered typing why it shouldn't be Gerrard or Dyche. See Forza ?it's near enough to my opinion.
23 Sep 2025 19:29:59
Forza we do need a solid defence, all great sides start with a solid defence and our greatest ever manager started with a solid defence and built from there . If we are not losing goals it takes the pressure off those in front of them.
As for being hammer throwers like the rest of the league, nobody said that if we are not physical enough to compete we will get pushed around . We need to win individual battles to earn the right to play that is a quote from Souness and why he signed the likes of Hurlock and even Spackman.
I've read people on here suggest McInnes Robinson and even Martindale, what kind of football do you think they would play?
23 Sep 2025 19:31:27
Just for the record, McInnes never got overlooked. He was interviewed and, by all accounts, knocked us back at the last minute.
23 Sep 2025 19:33:56
From that list it's Stevie G all day long.
23 Sep 2025 19:57:11
Terzic or Roblox from that shortlist. But like Asathor I believe we should go all out for Marco Rose. Gerrard is a no. Won one title with three clubs over a 7 year period.
24 Sep 2025 00:04:18
Forzapapc the guy asked a question peopke are answering it not like they would be any of our first choices but also need a bit of realism.
And i don't think the type of club that would offer likes of dyche would temp him if he got offered a prem team again would most likely be a team in relegation battle doubt he would want that again.
24 Sep 2025 00:05:15
Fair foolmonty i miss spoke but still think he shouldn't be overlooked now.
24 Sep 2025 07:01:29
Personally i believe Gerrard is the right candidate to get us back on track he is ahead of any potential candidates as he has not only done it before with the unbeaten season and stopping celtics march to 10 in a row dead in its in tracks in spectacular fashion, he would drum solid tactics and expectatiions into the squad from the first introduction and training session, but the question is does he really want the position and headache of rescuing martiins leftovers, the teams there no doubt and Gerrard knows most of there potential surely, if its possible i would expect it to be done by monday next week after the genk and livi matches if they don't go well.
He might just decide it's not worth it and carry on enjoying the great lifestyle he has earned for himself and his family, and the 80 mill fortune he has amassed in recent years, the owners would have to offer him a top notch contract and specific guarantees, so what happened with the prior board during his time does not happen again where he was not backed at a crucial point of his vision for both Rangers and the team, if he was then i highly doubt he would have left unless the liverpool job came up, and we would be dominated our league and added plenty new silverware to the trophy room.
24 Sep 2025 11:45:44
If we do appoint a new manager if/ when RM is no more it will be none of those 4, at the moment and for the foreseeable future we have a manager so let's get behind him, the team and our club.
24 Sep 2025 14:38:00
Dcl. , a stoater.
24 Sep 2025 14:54:06
So who will it be BigTel if martin does lose his job ?.
