I agree lots of top teams play their 2nd choice GK in the league cup. Kelly is a decent GK and has done well when he comes in. let's not make this into a Martin doesn't know what he doing thread, PLEASE.

RR, because I have never been a fan of his and don't think he has ever been good enough to be our no.2. The only reason IMO is because he is Scottish.

Go back look at his performance under Ferguson and at Easter Road.
He was not great against Alloa. Butland has consistently been our best player this season.
Rangers royal, I don't see it as negative wanting the best players to play.

More to the point, looks like the Fans Advisory Meeting where they said they were backing Martin is indeed the case as he's still here and will be for the Hibs game.
It really doesn't look like he's going anywhere and will be here no matter what the results are.
Don't think they care about this season at all, but by the looks of it, they may just give him the time he's asking for whether fans protest or not.

I agree John. It is a must win game to try and salvage something from this season. Early days in the league, I know but it's such a gap already. Russel looking relaxed, why not. He will get a big pay off if sacked.
With all the anger surrounding him as our manager and I get why but the guys still a human being at the end of the day. The players must carry their share of the blame too. They've been shocking.

In his own mind. Mystar he probably thinks we can win tomorrow and he will turn it around. With the chairman in town it will be interesting to see what happens if things don't go well tomorrow.

Can see both sides of the argument to be fair. Kelly is a more than decent back up and has always been given the cup games which helps keep him match fit if needed. That said Butland has been in great form this season so hard to drop him, especially for this must win game.
Just watched Kelly's Presser and he is exactly the kind of guy we need in the dressing room, he gets what it means to play for Rangers and if I remember rightly EHL had said in the past that he is one of the leaders in the group.

Must win game you okay your best keeper and Kelly is a scare of a keeper. It was only because how poor Butland was last season people started to rate him.

I get the idea of playing back up keepers in cup games to give them game time and it was fine against Alloa but this is a must win game against a really good Hibs team and we need to put our best keeper behind that shaky defence. Kelly is nowhere near Butlands level as a keeper, arguably he is better with the ball at his feet but personally I would be quite happy for my keeper to shell the ball up the wing every time if he keeps a clean sheet in a cup game.
We don't usually switch to the No.2 keeper for cup games although Kelly was in goal for the defeat by Queens Park, so I see no reason to start now .
If Martin does this and we lose its just another nail in his coffin.

Angus I am not making it into Martin does not know. What I am saying is no matter what, ie the crisis we r in a cup win ie trophy is paramount.

I agree, Butland is the better keeper Strom, but Kelly is not as bad as you're making out and people rated him last season as when he was called upon he played well.
