On 22 Sep 2025 at 23:55:12 I explained that discussions had taken place regarding 4 names, two German and two English.
Rohl, Terzic, Dyche and Gerrard.
Rohl and Terzic for the style and English for the back to basics approach.
Alex Crook, at talksport confirmed it last night it was Gerrard and Rohl. -
As the statement said tonight, it's well under way and the 4 names have been reached out to.
Terzic was the dream, but he said no immediately.
Gerrard or Rohl to be announced by Friday for the team returning.
No interim team.

Why would Terzic turn us down straight away? Guys been out of a job for a while so has Rose, if these guys are Eilite coaches why haven't they turned up at Spain and England, Germany or Italy before now, I fancied Rohl back in the summer my no1 would be Schmidt but don't know if that ship has sailed.

People saying Rohl will be a disaster but tell me how much experience the "brilliant" Gerrard had? Just youth level stuff, everything I've heard about Rohl is he has style but is more than willing to change to get results. Gerrard the manager has done nothing since leaving us and the only person since we got back to the Premiership allowed more than a season to build, only 1 trophy and both Clement and Gio won 1 in months.

Given what happened with Martin, I just think it would be rinse and repeat if Rohl was appointed. Need a back to basics approach and instil some confidence in the players.

Don't want Steven Gerrard anywhere near Rangers I understand its there opinion but people keep saying if only the board had back S. Gerrard after winning the title.
If they had backed him then we would have been bankrupt, he won us the title which was yes very important against a poor Celtic team managed by N. Lennon.
You could say the same with Van Bronckhorst or Clement maybe if the board had backed them, rather than these two coaches having to control spending, also Gio was very unfortunate with injuries.
Time will tell if the board make the correct appointment but all I want is Rangers playing entertaining football and more importantly winning.

Not to Anyone in particular but I don't get the Back to British Managers. 2 of our last 3 managers have been British so unless it's a particular style like No nonsense British managers that obviously hasn't worked. We just need someone that knows how to play in Scotland first and foremost the rest hopefully comes afterwards so they need to be willing to adapt not be a stubborn manager stuck in their ways.

Gerrard won 1 in 9 trophies, he left us mid season, that probably cost us '56', we have only just managed to bring the huge wages bill he left us with under control. He's has achieved nothing since he left. Why would we want him back?

Rohl being compared to Martin is incredibly lazy. Is he my first choice? No but rohl assistant at Bayern and Germany under Flick and assistant to Ragnick at Leipzig.
He's not some philosophy manager like Martin, 7 different formations used last season counter attacking football and large percent of goals scored came from set pieces.

I would go for Eduardo Coudet. Successful in South America and Europe, winning titles and used to big club pressure.
Would also allow us to tap into South American markets.

I'm concerned about bringing in a manager with no experience of Scottish football. We need to get a grip domestically before focusing on European football. I'd bring in Robinson from St. Mirren. Can organise and motivate a team, knows the league inside out and by all accounts is a great man manager. This season is looking like a bit of a write off already, so I'd get him in till the end of the season and based on performance offer him a few more years.

What we need right now is someone who will make us BETTER. Forget about winning trophies for now just show improvement. Get the players on board, showing effort and commitment playing in an organised style that suits their abilities. Gerrard knows the club and the league and would do that as soon as he walks through the door. I suspect Muscat, McInnes and Dyche would though I think that may be the limit of Dyche's abilities. Anyone else is taking another punt in the dark.

I love the narrative about how Gerrard left us with a huge wages bill, I'm pretty sure it wasn't him that negotiated contracts and at least the players we paid bigger wages to like Goldson, Tav, Lundstram, Alfie all made big contributions on the pitch . He also brought in Bassey, Aribo, Sakala and Kamara who we made massive profits on.
The big wage earners we have struggled to get rid of recently and who have contributed next to nothing on the field the likes of Davis, Dowell, Sterling, Lawrence and Matondo were nothing to do with Gerrard and 3 of those also kill the narrative that GVB wasn't backed because they were 3 of at least 7 players brought in that window which included Souttar, Colak, Tillman, Yilmaz.

I would take anyone, I was so disheartened with RM that anyone would be an improvement if its Rohl he will get my backing. The point being it doesn't matter who WE want the Andrew, Praag, Kevin and Patrick will have a list of a few names and will get who they think will do the job. All i want is to make us play again play some good football and win games. We have some really good players and if any manager can get a tune out of them we can get somewhere this season. I don't think we will get McInnes as his compensation will be too high and why would he come just now!

Gvb, Rohl has 9 years in coaching, been at Bayern where even winning the treble wasn't even seen as good enough by the fans.
To say he wouldn't realise the task is silly imo.
Again he's one is avoid not being abused or who he is but because of the reaction he'd get from fans that see him as another Martin.
