I did highlight a few days ago that Rohl was being interviewed while the noise for Gerrard was picking up.
You can't give the job to someone if they're not 'all in'. Don't judge the owners until you know the full situation.
Regardless of our feelings on Gerrard walking away, it's time to get behind the new man. Anyone would be an improvement on Russell Martin. I'm very open to Rohl, a coach with vast amounts of experience working at some big clubs and national teams. I've heard a lot of good things.
The other names I've heard interviewed were Potter and Gary O'Neill - haven't been able to verify these yet.
12 Oct 2025 00:50:03
Come on you honestly think a guy who managed Sheffield Wednesday will be able to walk in and get a tune out they players… it's just another rinse and repeat of Martin… total mess as usual… if we are backed into a corner which it looks like McInnes needs to be asked the question… at least he knows the club, the expectations and what we are all about… not another project.
12 Oct 2025 00:53:20
Chris Jack saying McKenna and Carrick have been spoken too.
12 Oct 2025 01:16:31
The criteria of Rangers manager should not be "better than Russell Martin". They should be good enough for Rangers.
12 Oct 2025 02:05:24
Cheers for the info,
Personally I hope it's not Potter, really don't rate him at all as a manager.
12 Oct 2025 04:44:05
Something stinks at the club, if the agreement was reached in principle then all of a sudden SG pulls out there is something toxic at the club, it was all go for SG and his back room staff then out of the blue he says no ???.
12 Oct 2025 05:57:45
If Rohl was all that then why is he unemployed?
12 Oct 2025 06:48:15
Yer maws maw the same can be said about gerrard ?.
12 Oct 2025 06:54:36
Yer maws maw, rohl left Sheffield Wednesday because of lack of communication with the owners and because he was uncertain of his future, he didn't get fired, he left them.
12 Oct 2025 06:59:17
If Steven Gerrard was all that why is he unemployed?
12 Oct 2025 07:22:47
If it's Rohl then this absolute stinks. As big a joke as appointing Russell Martin. Who are these clowns in charge at rangers.
12 Oct 2025 07:24:04
Calb if you listened to his interviews he has had offers but they didn't suit him that is why he is "unemployed"
12 Oct 2025 07:31:29
Rohl, O'Neil, potter, Mckenna and Carrick. We really are scraping the barrel of english football man. We should be going scottish before and of these overhyped 'modern coaches'
12 Oct 2025 07:34:14
Really quite intrigued to see who's appointed now.
Will be at the Meadowbank Stadium later today, so will see if there is any gossip doing the rounds.
12 Oct 2025 07:37:44
Fifepl it was a joke. A dig at the other comment.
12 Oct 2025 07:53:55
Rohl vast experience lol. Aye ok. He got sacked at Sheffield wedensday and still without a Club. No thanks.
12 Oct 2025 08:21:25
EHL, are you still thinking it will be Danny Rohl?
12 Oct 2025 08:23:14
I am not intrigued EHL. I am worried. This a regime with all the analytical tools and systems in the world, their first appointment was the least able and worst fit you could find to be Ranger's head coach. I saw you posting that in your own experiences of working in his set up you thought he was not performing well at all. Can you say what is intriguing about us potentially making another disastrous and costly appointment. I certainly get no pleasure from how events are unfolding.
12 Oct 2025 08:25:23
If Kieran McKenna would take the job, we should jump at that. You can't pop Rohl in the same category as Martin - he would be more than good enough.
12 Oct 2025 08:26:04
So "I f n love rangers" doesn't suit him, go figure?.
12 Oct 2025 08:33:48
I think it's likely to be Rohl and I'm truly amazed by that. How does a guy who's achieved nothing with a low level championship team become the Rangers manager? We need an established manager or a manager with a presence, neither of which Rohl provide. He'll be about as divisive as Martin was. Who would have thought things would have turned out so badly with the new owners. Absolutely depressing. Anyone that thinks rohl will be a good appointment is kidding themselves.
12 Oct 2025 08:44:58
A lot of people on this thread acting like fecking babies because they didn't get what they want ?♂️grow up.
12 Oct 2025 08:51:56
Davie i don't want rohl. But he didn't get sacked.
12 Oct 2025 08:56:11
My biggest concern now is that it appears certain people within the higher echelons of Rangers have a very different view of the club and the expectations. As I have said multiple times we are not an experiment and need a strong leader.
As it stands we have been a laughing stock for many years due to multiple managers arriving and leaving due to the pressure of expectations, people underestimate what it is to manage Rangers and in recent years very few have understood this.
We cannot afford to have another 'punt' on a manger we need someone who can make a team of fighters who will put it on the line for the jersey.
Whether it's Muscat, Rohl or someone else we cannot continue replacing managers every few months.
12 Oct 2025 08:56:41
Quite deflated to be honest.
Looks like we're heading toward the bottom of the barrel after all.
Thelwell will have his scraper in hand.
12 Oct 2025 09:18:10
German assistant manager, Bayern and Leipzig, and the Southampton assistant manager also, not a few bad places to get the experience u say he's not got.
12 Oct 2025 09:35:31
If roll that's a bad app
Why has GERRARD SAID NO
SOMTHING REALLY STINKS N I YHINK THREWELL
BACK TO SQUARE ONE
AINT WINNING a thing this year
I'm scared for. The future of our club
Silence I'd deafing.
12 Oct 2025 09:45:52
Davie, danny rohl didn't get sacked at sheff wednesday mate ? Fair enough if you don't rate him but don't tell something about the young coach that isn't true ?EHL, you have always thought that danny rohl would be a good appointment for us although your preferred choice was roger schmidt ?.
12 Oct 2025 09:46:29
Bloody joke,
Seems well off
Somthing and somone stinks at our club
ROEL BOTTOM OF BARREL APP simples
MARTIN PArt 2
Club has no ambitions or hope.
12 Oct 2025 09:52:50
Doesn't matter if Rohl got sacked or not at Wednesday or if the communication was poor with owner. He was in charge for 80 odd games in total and had a terrible record, definitely Martin 2.0.
Got a feeling this has come down to gerrard wanting to bring in his own players and Thelwell, who just brought his son in a recruitment role saying no, you coach the players we bring in for you.
12 Oct 2025 09:53:09
Looks like Rohl left Sheffield Wednesday because the club was in a mess and not paying players, and it was by mutual consent, several players left as well.
Problems at Sheffield Wednesday.
In June, the EFL placed a triple transfer embargo on the club for a failure to pay the players. After this, further embargoes followed after Chansiri was late paying the tax bill, and there remain outstanding transfer fees to other clubs, non football staff also were not being paid their wages. 5 Aug 2025
On the bright side of things though we got Gassama for an excellent price, without the club experiencing several issues, they would not have sold Gassama to us, my guess is they were struggling to pay Rohls wages too?
12 Oct 2025 09:54:55
Gers need to approach Hearts to speak to DMcI. We need a manager who understands Scottish football and the club. Danny Rhol may become a good coach but lacks the practical background needed as well as the winning mentality.
McInnes for me.
12 Oct 2025 09:58:18
Davie he was never sacked mate, I'd prefer Mciness over Rohl.
12 Oct 2025 10:03:02
Gerrard ain't coming. So pay the compensation and go get McIness. (Or ask him the question at least. )
Any of the other contenders is going to be a huge risk and we could be in this vicious circle of manager recruitment for some time to come.
12 Oct 2025 10:07:16
Really starting to worry about this decision, it might be better to wait and get BF in till January or even end of season.
Might be better to see what managers are out there come the transfer windows instead of who is presently on the dole!
Surely contingencies were in place before we sacked RM.
Doesn't feel that way though!
The next manager has to have a team behind him be available, want to come, fit right in, and understand the pressure.
Can't see anyone out there right now who fits the bill correctly.
For me it's BF till the right session is made.
12 Oct 2025 10:08:30
"vast amounts of experience" he's 36 only managed Sheff Wed and got sacked in July.
12 Oct 2025 10:43:17
Danny Rohl didn't get sacked lol. He was absolutely loved at Sheffield Wednesday he left them because he wasn't getting paid do your homework before commenting.
12 Oct 2025 10:46:11
You got to Rohl with it! ?.
12 Oct 2025 11:05:15
So highly rated he ended up Sheff Wed manager and not a top German club, but time yet he's very young, just slightly older than Tav . whoa now have I just solved the problem? Does Tav like Thelwell would he be one of the few out there not embarrassed by Stewart?
Those 2 rockets are all over this again, brace yersel .
12 Oct 2025 11:09:41
Rohl can't be all bad like he is getting made out, came in and saved them from relegation, next season 12th in the championship with the lowest budget, I'd prefer Mciness though.
12 Oct 2025 11:12:48
The bad smell around the club is THELWELL the director of football who thought RUssell Martin was the "best ever coach" he has worked with!
12 Oct 2025 11:21:01
"Don't judge the owners"
After Martin and Thelwell, judgement has been rendered.
They now have an awful lot to prove, and they must start doing it immediately.
12 Oct 2025 10:22:09
Once A Ranger - Agreed ?
The "rigorous" and "data-driven approach" to our business has yielded quite possibly the worst manager in the history of our club and an absolute disaster of an appointment in Thelwell. And we're only a few months into their glorious reign.
When it comes to Glasgow Rangers, they really couldn't have screwed things up more badly than they have already. But there is still time for them to excel themselves.
I have no faith they'll get this right. They need to prove it - only the results matter.
Everything they do now deserves MAXIMUM scrutiny. That is all they have earned so far after the start they have made.
12 Oct 2025 10:26:23
Once a Ranger, until an appointment is made how can we characterise is as disastrous?
I'm intrigued as there are three very different candidates, who in my opinion all take us down completely different paths.
The one candidate I was most concerned about was Gerrard, who to me had disaster written all over it.
As for events unfolding, there's a process that is working. Just because fans got overly excited about an appointment that didn't happen isn't a reflection on the recruitment process - it's a reflection on social media hysteria.
12 Oct 2025 11:29:16
Solsjkaer would give us a bounce in a different way to Gerrard.
12 Oct 2025 12:03:36
Who is the 3rd EHL? Rohl, Gerrard and?
12 Oct 2025 12:09:45
Dyche not interested, Gerrard walked away when a deal was close ( fact) and now 3 managers this morning have rejected the chance of an interview despite there unemployment. i know your sources can verify this.
So sorry doesn't scream of a working process it screams alarm bells to me.
12 Oct 2025 12:13:07
The owners should have had a chat and discussed how to find people to help manage the business and not employ idiots, mainly because the owners have no clue about soccerball, I think the round ball thing throws them a wee bit.
By the way if the Leeds manager gets the sack due to relegation would he be worth a go?
12 Oct 2025 12:15:08
When did rohl get sacked davie1980?
12 Oct 2025 12:17:54
Hi EHL I respect the fact you are currently working as a coach in some capacity, so you obviously now the game and you have made clear you didn't think Gerrard was the man. Although you say you weren't at Ibrox when he was there, but have listened to your colleagues who were there.
I have never worked in football, but listen to people who have worked in football in a good level. Before Covid a work mate from Alexandria who was friendly with Craig Mulholland's father told me Craig had said the football set ups and depts at all levels that SG had initiated were like day and night to how things had been under previous regimes.
Also I take on the opinions of player's like Jack, Arfield, Rooney, Halliday and Stewart who have all given him glowing testimonials. Then there is his leadership abilities. I feel are club has always needed a true leader, a figurehead every one looks up to and respects and they oversee all the football operations and are the spokesman for the club, defending and promoting the club.
I really doubt that these wonderful processes you seem so attached will unearth this kind of manager/ head coach. Especially the grade one cock up the last process made.
12 Oct 2025 12:50:24
Once a Ger, I actually said the people I spoke to who had worked with Gerrard were split and my opinion isn't based on this on the slightest.
I've said a number of time that I didn't really rate Gerrard as a coach and thought we could recruit better - I also said I completely understood the thought process behind those who wanted him back.
If you want to have a pop at me feel free - but at least be factual.
On that point, what wonderful processes am I attached to?
12 Oct 2025 12:53:19
Brilliant EHL2020 social media hysteria couldn't agree more there's a process the club are following, so let's get behind the new set up they made a mistake with Martin and hopefully now going to correct it.
WRTP.
