13 Oct 2025 10:11:15
Looks like Danny Rohl about to be agreed. Looking forward to this one.
13 Oct 2025 10:28:32
Another project bound to fail.
13 Oct 2025 10:31:19
Think on the face of it we need to understand he's in to be a "Head Coach" and if you want to consider coaching upbringing Leipzig, Bayern and Germanys national team isn't a bad school playground!
By all reports he done a fantastic job being pragmatic at a basketcase club, sounds like the perfect fit to me, ha! Assuming he'll bring in someone of Rangers yesteryear to appease / get fans on board. I'll support whoever is appointed but two things are not the same and we can't treat the incoming Head Coach with the same discontent as RM because he is now and will not be RM.
13 Oct 2025 10:31:43
If its the case I won't be happy but he gets my backing till he shows why he shouldn't ?♂️.
13 Oct 2025 10:37:19
Desperation comes to mind.
13 Oct 2025 10:37:42
I think this one will succeed,
Experience in a top league where winning is all that matters - tick
Adapts to the situation - tick
Good man manager - tick
This has all the hallmarks of a fantastic appointment its just a shame its coming now and not 5 months ago.
13 Oct 2025 10:40:39
Hope your right union, I think he sounds the most exciting from the list of ones we are speaking to. Any idea on what length of contract it would be?
13 Oct 2025 10:41:05
Finish 12th in the championship now gets you the Rangers job unbelievable
! pswich 6-0 Sunderland 4-0 Burnley 4-0 Millwall 4-0 Huddersfield 4-0 Southampton 4-0 Leeds 3-0 Plymouth 3-0 Watford 6-2
There is no amount of tactical flexibility or potential that can make it okay for this man to become the manager of Rangers Football Club.
13 Oct 2025 10:41:55
That's the spirit kiwi.
13 Oct 2025 10:42:01
So was gerrard.
13 Oct 2025 10:44:28
Love your positivity kiwi, hope all the fans share your optimism ?
The more I hear about Rohl and what ex players and managers say about him the more I like what I hear. Gerrard was a so called safe pit of hands but we were comparing to Martin, Rohl could be a breath of fresh air and exactly what we need. If it is to be him, I hope everyone gets behind the young man and gives him a warm and supportive welcome.
13 Oct 2025 10:50:08
I think its hard to judge Danny Rohl on previous managers role as he left that role due to sheffield wednesdays financial issues and was not sacked for poor performance. But this would only be his second managers post.
13 Oct 2025 10:50:42
Kiwiger I get everyone is entitled to their opinion but have you ever thought it's fans like yourself that might be the issue guys not even been announced and your writing him off.
13 Oct 2025 10:52:50
Kiwiger, how do you come to that conclusion? Just wondering what knowledge of Rohl's career you've witnessed that instantly screams failure to you?
The project that's failing is Thelwell and Stewart, not the next manager. If the negative narrative continues then what good is it going to do on the pitch?
I'm quite invested in Rohl getting the job, he's an astute manager with wealths of experience under top coaching at top clubs, he's learned how to play against an abundance of blocks and open games, he's did the hard work with a board that wasn't in a place to back him and was still successful. As long as he has the back bone to stand up to these fools and criticise their previous failings in order to build a successful and reputable team again, i'm all for it.
13 Oct 2025 10:53:58
I don't really understand the term "project" manager. Can someone explain?
13 Oct 2025 10:56:50
I'm excited about Danny Rohl can see him being a real quality manager. Ex players seem to love him and he's been in a big club environment for years with Bayern plus flick took him as assistant to the German national side you don't get there without being decent.
13 Oct 2025 11:15:14
There's become this growing cancer in the support of people who seem to want us to fail.
13 Oct 2025 11:18:58
Personally I'm a massive fan of German football, I'd have liked Rose for the experience as a No.1 but I genuinely believe Rohl should have been the man in the summer to come in, he was the one I was most excited about.
However I totally understand right now that he's not the fan favourite due to the current position we are in, but I honestly don't think anyone really comes in and changes things instantly. Think really only reason people wanted Gerrard is because they think he would be more honest and outspoken about the position we are in. Please don't give me he commands respect stuff. Every manager should.
13 Oct 2025 11:22:12
Watched a few of Danny's press conferences at Wednesday.
Seems well grounded and doesn't waste words like some.
Wish him all the best if appointed.
13 Oct 2025 11:23:53
Wasnt my ideal choice i'd really taken to SG coming back esp after the Martin mess however likewise i think he's more capable and better pedigree than Martin so if it is Rohl he has my full support until its no longer deserved if that was to happen. Just hope we get some stability and progress.
13 Oct 2025 11:28:06
Seeing rumours online that Rohl understands need to incorporate "Rangers men" in his backroom staff. Strong rumours of McCann and Billy Reid. Any of the actual ITK posters aware of this? John/ EHL.
13 Oct 2025 11:28:36
Rfc truth be told I'm far more excited than I was yesterday mate, spent a couple of hours last night doing a bit of a research on him and only got impressed, going out a walk after my lunch so will do a little more.
13 Oct 2025 11:29:04
Celtic will win 56.
13 Oct 2025 11:35:01
But but he hasn't any experience ?.
13 Oct 2025 11:36:09
So my comment has been perceived as negative but let's look at his history
With an overall win record of 38%
So is this a winning mentality?
Managerial statistics
Games managed: 89
Wins: 34
Losses: 36
Preferred formation: 4-2-3-1
I'd just like to think we would be aiming higher than under 40% win rate, bearing in mind this was a newly promoted team into the championship with the funds that are available to teams in the championship compared to SPL do we really believe he will be a roaring success?
Do I believe he will likely fail -yes
Will I support him if he is manager - yes 100%
Will the majority of the fans give him a chance -?
I was simply airing my personal opinion.
13 Oct 2025 12:11:05
Don't want Rohl although rate him well above Martin, the board have made an arse of things again and have put even more pressure on Rohl because of the way they have handled things, the fans are as angry as I have ever seen and will show that towards the two clowns in charge for the foreseeable future, Rohl could get a few games before fans start to turn on him which is unfair but it's the way of things down Govan way at moment.
13 Oct 2025 12:16:19
I was very sceptical about Rohl, however the more you read, the more it seems to calm the nerves. Yes, he is young, however he appears to be pragmatic in his approach to games and willing to change tactics depending on the opposition - something Martin was unable or unwilling to do. Your not assistant at Bayern, Leipzig, Germany and held in high regard by Flick if you don't have something about you.
13 Oct 2025 12:24:32
Kiwi I understand your concerns about inexperienced manager but you also need to consider reasons behind results too. What funds were available? They have been in a transfer embargo with players able to leave for practically nothing because wages aren't being paid. Think managing to get any kind of results with what they've faced is remarkable. I honestly don't know that much about him but it's hard to judge him poorly based on the mess he was dealt with.
13 Oct 2025 12:27:44
Bazzaboi, I must admit these results scare the bejesus out of me ?.
13 Oct 2025 12:32:00
You talking about 20 clubs having a bigger budget in the championship though Kiwiger, clearly that never entered your head mate.
13 Oct 2025 12:35:30
Kiwiger, maybe if you looked at those stats in context to the team he was at, the situation they were in and the players he had at his disposal, you'll realise, it's not that bad a record. People need to stop getting fixated on stats without understanding context.
13 Oct 2025 12:35:58
Amo5 - I was invested in Gio, Beale, Clement, and Martin.
Never again. It's exhausting.
Whoever gets the job - only results matter.
That way, when the new guy gets canned I can take it in stride.
13 Oct 2025 11:47:17
Been hearing he might be getting a backroom team with Rangers connections involved, so we may well get a cracking very well thought of young manager getting advice from men that know the club. I am really optimistic if he gets the Job, it could turn out to be a great move.
13 Oct 2025 11:53:53
Bazza, clearly you don't understand with one of the lowest budgets in the championship.
13 Oct 2025 12:00:14
Whoever the new manager is, at least give them to Christmas before we challenge them. Give him a chance.
We won't help if we are on his case right from the stay. You can speculate all you like . Whoever it is we have no idea how they will do.
This is a long playing record that's getting old.
We won't get who we want, but we are great experts sitting on the couch.
13 Oct 2025 12:05:19
I would be more than happy if Danny Rohl does indeed get the job. He would have been one of my top 2 choices in the summer and had he been appointed then I don't believe we would be in the mess we are now. Obviously he has a lack of experience as head coach but so did Gerrard first time round and let's not forget, quite a few were getting excited by Ancelotti in the summer and he had even less experience.
I can understand the reluctance of many fans to appoint another head coach with little experience after the debacle of RM but let's give the guy a chance, I genuinely think he will surprise a few people. If he does get the job i believe he will recruit a few backroom staff with knowledge of the Scottish league and this will help him and maybe appease the fans.
13 Oct 2025 12:09:10
If it had been Rohl instead of Martin, i'd see it as a decent appointment, possibly even good. But i think the damage Martin has done will mean he starts with a very fragile foundation where fans might turn quickly Gerard had money in the embankment that he'd turn things round o er time and get structure, spirit and quality in the team.
I worry that Rohl has lots of experience as a coach (as per Beale), but little experience as a manager and none with a club this size and the expectations that go along with it. Big risk, but it feels like there isn't much choice now.
13 Oct 2025 12:42:39
With less strong competition in scotland win rate could go up?
Try being positive, it works.
13 Oct 2025 12:54:55
He joined Sheffield Wednesday when they had 3 points after 11 games and just got a transfer embargo. Avoiding relegation after that is nothing but incredible and then losing players and not being to sign anyone and challenge for playoffs is outstanding job. Can talk win percentage all you want, but there has to be context to it.
13 Oct 2025 12:55:09
Kiwi, Gerrard since leaving Rangers has win rate under 40%, so does McInnes' last 3 seasons.
13 Oct 2025 13:38:39
Wilkins, That is only natural mate and some can't see that.
13 Oct 2025 13:09:05
If you want to learn a bit about Rohl, look at his backroom team at Sheffield Wednesday.
He, in his role as Head Coach, changed the set up (whilst battling relegation) to align with how we are currently set up.
He also promoted a lot of the internal staff, to more prominent roles and filled other key roles with staff from in and around the league.
He only looked to bring in staff externally where there was a gap - and even then he worked with the club to ensure they had a plan to create a pathway for others to develop in those areas.
This pretty much mirrors what the output from our review of Football Operations identified for us - which is how the vast majority of clubs in Germany operate and also why there are so many talented coaches (at various levels) developing within that league.
It really is quite impressive, but granted it does require looking beyond win % and league positions.
13 Oct 2025 13:12:34
My star in the sky, I understand quite well and they had a bigger budget than you, think go and dig deeper. If you want to accept mediocre you carry on.
13 Oct 2025 13:14:01
What experience has Rohl got of managing in a top league? Is Sheffield Wednesday not his only head coach job and they are in the second level of England. Not sure you could describe winning enough games not to get relegated as winning is all that matters.
Didn't we hear what a great man manager Martin was from his ex players too, there will always be somebody that likes him, willing to speak up. We soon found out that, that was totally false about Martin.
To be honest I don't think the current structure will succeed at Rangers under any head coach. We need the guy running the first team to be a strong manager to be able to deal with all that surrounds our club.
13 Oct 2025 14:55:41
Bazza, I really can't go any deeper on him now, I now want him appointmented, how deep did you go? you could maybe give me some bad information on him that i have never found.
