For me, the only crowd pleaser would have been Gerrard. I can't think of anyone else that would have got the reception he would have got.
Any manager thinking of this job must surely be wary of the fan reaction if this appointment doesn't work out.

Mark, Gerrard may have been the most well-received of the main candidates but a good portion of our fans would be more than happy with the appointment of Muscat and I'm sure a lot of those who wanted Gerrard would consider Muscat their second choice as well.

Seems to me that a crowd pleaser is what is needed but we won't get one with Thelwell in place pulling the strings. There are established managers out there who could do the job if it is given the respect it deserves.
Cavanagh is obviously still trapped in the fantasy world of Thelwell and Martin. If he wants to go that route he should just keep Martin and save himself the pay off money.

From the little information I've heard Asa, I wouldn't be surprised if there was a split with the decision makers.
As I've said, the club have been smart and are looking at a range of different coaches - who all offer a tantalising glimmer of hope.

Muscat is hardly a crowd pleaser is he? he's been overlooked a few times now. Not against him mind you but his teams seem to lose a lot of goals and i'm not sure we have a lot of goals in us to counter that.

Would wait for Muscat, have no problem with McCann until he arrives if that the route we go down, think he probably the best chance of success but will back anyone to the hilt that gets the job.
