Hypothetically if/ when Rangers get rid of Russell Martin and say Davide Ancelotti was sacked at Botafogo would we seriously consider him at Rangers?

I think we could possibly be in the same situation we are in just now with RM.

I would like us to go for a more experienced manager that's be there and done that no matter what country he is from, with great man-management skills, who can adapt as the game goes on if need be.

Whether we can afford someone like that or they want to come to Scotland is another question.

Would be a crazy appointment.

I didn't want Ancelotti then. I most certainly don't want him now. I couldn't believe after a 4 month search the final 2 were Ancelotti and Martin.

But here we are … on the brink AGAIN ….

We should avoid Ancelotti like the plague, we need an experienced manager with a proven track record of being able to win or at least of being able to build a competitive team that's hard to beat. One with a plan A, B and C if required. Souness, Smith, McCleish, Advocaat and Gerrard were all leaders that commanded discipline and respect and that's something we've sorely missed.

Out of the pan and into the fire.

Huge no - he's on the verge of getting the boot in his current position. dadab88 is bang on. gerrard for me . he would sort this lot out.

Ancelotti started off great 1 loss in 10 but went downhill after that according to the report I read, but I don't want him anywhere near Ibrox now.

Big fat NO.

18 Sep 2025 18:55:18
We need an experienced manager to manage the first team, he can bring in coaches, Scottish or otherwise to assist with the training ground stuff but he must be a strong character who will make it clear he is running the playing side . He should also have the final say on recruitment, after all its his neck that will be on the chopping block.
The Sporting Director can then get on with the organisation of the rest of the football operations.

Experienced man manager who has history of winning trophies/ leagues required - not ANOTHER project please! ?.

18 Sep 2025 19:51:06
Why do people say experienced managers we have had them too and they didn't work so it's nonsense.

18 Sep 2025 20:05:44
Garth Southgate anyone? Just a thought. Not saying it should be him just looking for opinions.

18 Sep 2025 20:50:17
Needs to be an experienced manager who commands respect and with a good win percentage.

18 Sep 2025 23:35:17
Thing about Lampard and Gerrard you know the modern player will respect them, could be Rose or any manager like him and they'll need to earn players respect.

19 Sep 2025 03:20:34
Preach sco11 been asking for this for as long as i can remember have not really had a right proper experienced manager since walter.

19 Sep 2025 03:21:54
I agree mystar also have the brittish thing don't think english are the best at respecting foreign coaches.

I know that's a generalisation but i still believe it.

19 Sep 2025 05:08:13
We need a manager not novices who'll crumble under the heat ?No more experiments and russell martin shouldn't have got the job in the first place and it would be a massive no for me regarding davide ancelotti and danny rohl to replace martin ?.

19 Sep 2025 08:21:05
Why the infatuation with Lampard? Same old names getting thrown out there every time.

19 Sep 2025 10:53:12
I'm talking about instate respect because of who he is Locker, my only point.
