Wee question EHL,

Taking the contract issue into consideration, do you think it would be possible to get a first team coach and meantime give Martin the 18s to manage/ coach until the 6 months are up?

It may prove a problem getting someone for 6 months or so. Not sure if his contract stipulates first team coach?
Just a thought.

Bunnet the easiest way would be to amicably and mutually terminate the contract.

Russel Martin's job is first team coach, i would be very surprised if his contact doesn't state his job role.

I doubt it Bunnet, the same way I doubt we could put him on gardening leave.

That said, I'm no contract expert - just guessing that there would be clauses that prevents it.

That is, of course, if the message I got about the contract is true of course.

Put him on gardening leave, bring in a full time manager and pay Martin off when the time is right.
No more messing about, we need positive action, now.

Martin is a coach, so bring in a manager, leave Martin as coach, then sack him after his 6 months are up.

Asa my thoughts exactly. Surely RM health must be suffering here. I could see him going to the board and saying this isn't working is there anything we could do. This has to stop for everyone concerned.

Thanks guys, a long shot but we need him gone. He is ripping the soul out of us.

Surly it makes sense to speak to him and make him an offer that he gets like a years pay to go the now.

The first thing on his contract would be first team coach. don't know anyone who would sign a contract that didn't stipulate position, role and responsibilities.

dont even need to put him on garden leave, you can dismiss and pay the costs. putting him on garden leave would effectively be termination of contract and being relieved of his duties. putting on garden leave so we can reduce our costs would be seen as terminating now and any court would say the same.
