So from what I know. Apologies if this does not make happy reading.
Russell Martin has been given a very slight reprieve in a sense.
He has been formally placed as a head COACH solely and has had all traditional manager responsibilities removed.
He will no longer play any part in recruitment process which signals that the club are future proofing in a way.
He has been advised that the current performance is unacceptable and will not be tolerated for very much longer.
How long I do not know but I believe that adverse results in the upcoming games will prove to hard to ignore.
This direction is to avoid the "Beale" effect when he tells everyone that listens that he was spread too thin and expected to do too much.

Great info as always asa. I thought bringing in Thelwell and Purdy was to protect that exact thing?
Was RM not always the Head Coach rather than the manager?
01 Sep 2025 19:00:17
He was always the head coach and not the manager and it was clearly discussed when he was appointed that he would be consulted on transfers but not have responsibility for them
Not new news.
01 Sep 2025 19:01:00
That makes very happy reading Asa. Thanks for sharing.
01 Sep 2025 19:03:14
Asa makes lots off sense. Especially around recruiting,
He is apparently very unhappy as plumley is picking players
Also was told he wanted Curtis away, this for now has been stopped at a higher level
It has came from boardroom he will sit with raskin, if u disagree feel free to do so, or anyone.
We have a phrase here Asa, he is hanging by a thread.
01 Sep 2025 19:03:34
He was brought in as head coach only as he always aludes to in interviews.
01 Sep 2025 19:04:36
Cheers Asa. I just pray the players he did get in before this change was a collective and not Purdy out signing RMs players.
01 Sep 2025 19:08:49
He is the head coach and all targets are looked at collectively like everywhere else! So doesn't really matter if he's the manager or head coach makes no difference whatsoever!
01 Sep 2025 19:08:59
Am you r correct re head coach but apparently he is sticking his nose into every one's business.
01 Sep 2025 19:10:47
He was head coach in title but the title is a loose bracket shall we say with various responsibilities being to the discretion of the board.
Martin was given the luxury of being a part of decision making initially this has now been revoked.
01 Sep 2025 19:11:26
Wasn't that the info at the start?
Came out in June that they were leaning heavily on Martin for the first window to squad build before going back to the system Koppen set up.
Doesn't change the fact he should be binned anyways.
01 Sep 2025 19:12:37
Biggest concern for me is how that translates to the players. I think it's almost impossible to manage with any authority under those parameters.
01 Sep 2025 19:14:15
Great info and insight Asa thank you sir ?.
01 Sep 2025 19:16:37
Thought he'd always been head coach? Thought he'd be gone tonight?
01 Sep 2025 19:20:26
He's always beem the head coach.
01 Sep 2025 19:25:12
He was! Thelwell got a lot to answer to for our summer business.
01 Sep 2025 19:26:38
I'm sure most of that has already been stated on here by other posters.
01 Sep 2025 19:29:24
Well let's hope he builds from yesterday in the formation. except from playing wingers in the wrong place.
01 Sep 2025 19:34:03
Reprieve? 8M Chermiti! that's some Reprieve.
RM is not the manager fans wanted, its like polishing a turd, its still a turd.
Folk on here happy that we were defensively better yesterday and that that was good enough. I posted i was pleased to see improvement in defence. that's unacceptable on its own. We offered NOTHING IN ATTACK! never looked like scoring. that's not acceptable at Glasgow Rangers. RM will not last, he's always going to be a defeat or a draw away from a crisis and that totally unsettles a dressing room. Second guessing will he be here from week to week. I stand by my backing for a manager like Stephen Robinson who knows how to win. I would've taken Mcinnes. RM is toxic tainted and will never be respected and accepted by Rangers fans. Opportunity missed yet again with manager recruitment. Hibs and Hearts are playing with a style an Aggression and a togetherness, we have none of that. A couple more defeats or league draws and he's got to go.
01 Sep 2025 19:35:18
Thanks for the info Asa, think september will be a big month for RM and his coaching team.
01 Sep 2025 19:44:35
So glad Curtis is not been shipped out he should be getting plenty of game time brings a lot when he's in the park and only one seems capable to shoot and score from out side the box
If Martin is unhappy he should bloody walk.
Imagine trying or even wanting young Curtis out the door honesty I find that astonishing worrying and downright bloody ridiculous a young protege why would you want him gone
If that's true Martin you bloody idiot.
01 Sep 2025 19:44:58
Makes sense asa can't let anyone have as much power as beale did ever again . Time will tell how well recruitment is but i'm glad martin not got too much power as he wouldn't be good with it.
01 Sep 2025 19:47:10
Plumley ???.
01 Sep 2025 19:47:39
Yes John you are completely correct.
Purdy has become increasingly frustrated by him which lead to Purdy taking it higher.
Patrick Stewart has told Martin that Raskin will be staying and they need to sort out their differences.
As for Curtis I believe that it Thelwell putting stops in that as they see a bright future for the boy.
I am personally shocked that he has been given any more time but understand the rational behind the decision.
01 Sep 2025 19:50:00
We have another one John… he's a midgies **** away from losing his job!
01 Sep 2025 19:52:44
Chz Asa Thanks for the update. Ignore the ignorant.
01 Sep 2025 19:54:32
????.
01 Sep 2025 19:58:19
Asa if Chermiti and Cornelius don't work out then Thelwell won't be able to blame R. Martin. i'm very nervous about those two signings. Salami indeed my friend ?.
01 Sep 2025 19:59:05
Thanks for echoing what iv been saying Asa ??.
01 Sep 2025 19:59:07
Sounds very much like we've given him time but so constraint, it suggests we really don't want to give you more time and don't trust you but need to give you a chance.
01 Sep 2025 20:00:34
Keep throwing it at the walls Asa. Some may stick eventually mate.
01 Sep 2025 20:05:01
Decent TV programme Yellowstone, not sure about the latter. Spit it out if you've got something productive to say?
01 Sep 2025 20:07:04
How many of these accounts are cold?
01 Sep 2025 20:13:28
Great info Asa. By sounds of it, looks very prickly behind the scenes with Martin, board and recruitment side of things. Think next bad result could see the end of Martin if it's as heated as it sounds.
01 Sep 2025 20:19:48
Excellent info Asa, John to add to what EHL said earlier, ignore the numpties???.
01 Sep 2025 20:20:25
We'll just need to wait and see, some were adamant that Martin would be sacked today regardless of the result yesterday.
01 Sep 2025 20:26:03
Thanks Asa. I understood the model to be one where the football exec determine the "style", the recruitment team have responsibility to recruit the players to fit that style within budgetary constraints and the coach needs to work with these players in the "style" required for success on the pitch. If as you suggest he has been stepping over the line into recruitment it is no surprise to me that this is an issue and he has had his wings clipped. Not exactly how it was portrayed by RM at weekend but does make sense now that this is the case.
01 Sep 2025 20:32:02
Don't know but he's best ignored Asa, that would be a first sollof.
01 Sep 2025 20:33:06
Ignore the patronising comments Asa.
01 Sep 2025 20:43:30
Love that from Patrick Stewart, Raskin staying is the best piece of business we could hope for. Also happy for wee Curtis.
Just shows you RM really is the type of guy he seems to be.
01 Sep 2025 20:48:24
Asa looks like a bid to make him resign and would that possibly save compensation, if he feels he is mistreated could he then claim he was forced to
Rather just sack him, but appreciate all the info very enlightening.
01 Sep 2025 20:55:45
Thx Asa, I don't like Martin but hopefully we will either see him push on and cut out the nonsense, or we will see him replaced. Appreciate your insight!
01 Sep 2025 21:20:10
Thanks for the info Asa.
01 Sep 2025 22:15:03
Yellowstone is one harthill another Asa so ignore him. Yellowstone is just on to try and cause bother.
Pity they just didn't get rid of him and what you are saying is not really what Martin is telling the fans at press conferences and he has already been caught out lying a few times I just can't stand that. I don't hate anyone but he is close.
01 Sep 2025 23:09:28
Gary, why sack him, we would need to pay compensation, if he resigns we won't have to pay compen mate.
02 Sep 2025 01:46:34
Also SirWaltermcosit, he has serval running right now Asathor, would pay any attention mate.
02 Sep 2025 10:00:31
Thanks for info Asa. Also explains EHL comments about things not great behind the scenes and staff thinking of leaving.
