Summer 2023

Why do we give Beale such a hard time I'm doubting myself on why he gets it tight now?

Spent a lot of money. Had a terrible start to the season. Lammers was awful, his biggest signing danilo also been a dud. So there's 10mill. For reference ally mcCoist has the best win percentage of any Rangers manager.

Beale got a way too raw a deal by the fans imo.

23 Sep 2025 14:55:30
The way he got the job was just wrong stig.

23 Sep 2025 14:58:09
Great question Stig - because of his personality, I think.

23 Sep 2025 15:02:47
Problem is though we can't just say he got a couple signings wrong
How many managers have we had who have all got signings wrong and loads spent?
Not just Beale so can't land that just at his door guys come on?

Lammers Danilo Dessers is the reason Beale got it stinking 15m on players who were not good enough, didn't see the best of Dessers to after he had left. He had momentum behind him Beale and people felt like his signings ruined that. He did a miles better job than Martin though.

Beale when he first joined played an attacking 4-2-3-1 and it was really effective and was able to cut the gap and beat Celtic.

He then changed to playing 2 up front the start of the following season and he couldn't get the new system to work.

Rather than return back to the original setup, stuck to his guns and eventually fell on his sword. Coupled with the absolute nonsense he used to talk at the news conferences.

23 Sep 2025 17:10:37
It wasn't just the transfer it was the ridiculous contracts and salaries that got given out under his watch and stated by some on here under his negotiation.

Beale came in and played 433 and was winning consistently. He then decided to switch in summer to 41212 or something like that. He recruited for that tactical change. Then a few games into the season he realised it would not work and switched back to the 433 but did not have any wide players to play that because it's not what he recruited to play. We had all these 10s and Strikers with only space for one in thier correct positions.

He could have been good but made a rookie move with the experimental tactical switch and subsequent recruitment. He was trying to be too clever and it cost him his job.

For me it was the lack of experience which should have ruled him out of the job in first place so I felt he got what he deserved tbh.

A wee bit of a rewrite of history here, you missed out the great signing of Cifuentes another waste of money, not sure given his injury history that Sterling was a good signing either. We lost the League Cup Final and the Scottish Cup Final to the other mob before we beat them 3-0 at Ibrox in a dead rubber. We then started the following season and lost to them again at Ibrox, so his record against them wasn't good. Not sure he cut the deficit either although Clement did when he took over from Beale and inherited an 8 point deficit following defeat by Killie and Aberdeen as well.
You also missed out the players he chased out of Ibrox to make room for his signings, like Sakala and even Hagi.

Tommy and Zikos good reply's

WSL your right and agree with the players he sold on

But all managers since we came back up have all had some terrible signings not just Beale

Martin at this point has also had a couple so far by looks of it
Well the loans anyway Djiga and Aaron's don't think will make it
And jury out on couple others

at same time though is not the DOF who also has a say in recruiting and selling and negotiating said transfers?
Again can't land it all on Beale mistakes being made right across the board during our time back up can't keep landing it on managers door when other individuals are also involved and complicit!

Most of Brenda's recruitment over the road has been horrendous. With a winning team and a large bank balance it's all forgotten about.

23 Sep 2025 22:57:46
I think rm has signed some great players his tactics are a bit off Beale on the other hand tactics were good at the start then bought a load off ?.

24 Sep 2025 08:06:31
Stig more than just since we came back up, name any Rangers manager that has 100% success rate with signings, it just doesn't happen.
