Rumours flying about Rothwell on 28k a week plus bonuses ?‍♂️ if true that is scandalous and we will struggle to get rid of him in time.

04 Sep 2025 17:29:24
Can see that being true Storm, seemingly he was earing 600k a year for the previous three years, that wouldn't be far off his wage from his past few years.

04 Sep 2025 17:40:26
Can see him being another dowell, Davies type, crazy piece of business.

04 Sep 2025 17:41:10
Wouldn't surprise me in the least. They jumped back to the overinflated English market because that's all they knew but that's pretty much a standard wage for bang average players. Shudder to think what Chermiti will be on. Good work undone.

04 Sep 2025 17:53:22
Storm I believe that includes his signing on fee.

04 Sep 2025 17:54:21
Think he will come good.

04 Sep 2025 17:55:04
On a 3 year contract as well Storm. No wonder Martin has been asked to take a step back from recruitment and concentrate on players performance . Too many crooks sorry cooks. Criminal if turns out to be true. I thought he would be on half that.

04 Sep 2025 17:57:00
To be honest wouldn't put it past us to be paying him that much
Anything north of 18k a week for Rockwell would be too much and I'm being kind ?.

04 Sep 2025 18:08:12
Not sure storm think some have stated we've downed the wage bill. There was a good post way back about how much they were on. I'd take any rumour on finance as created by a smeltic expert tbh.

04 Sep 2025 18:28:19
Funny how we get all this data for people we don't like eh. apparently wage bill is down a good bit.

04 Sep 2025 18:28:37
Signing on fees usually spread over contract and can be more than some signings to be fair, signing on fees of actual so called FREE players can be as much as what some clubs would want for them in their last year of deals also, might be wrong but does Butland not get a lump sum at end of each season as part of his contract.

04 Sep 2025 18:31:04
Crazy money ?.

04 Sep 2025 19:15:13
He was a free transfer, if 28k a week is his wage that's bound to include his signing on fee.

{Ed001's Note - are you sure on that? I thought he cost about 400k.}

04 Sep 2025 19:20:35
Cooper, Rothwell wasn't out of contact though.

04 Sep 2025 19:30:19
Geese. U r right wages vary.
Arrons on a big wage.

Djiga 12k
Meghoma 12k
Cornelius 12k
Moore 10 k

Not clear we r paying all these guys wages

Asgard fernandes gassame ant man Cameron

between 7k and 11k

In the main we r not paying the silly money, dessers hai Lawrence Dowell etc.

04 Sep 2025 19:32:55
Why do you care how much he earns, if the owners want to pay out bigger wages to attract players that up to them, its their money .
Its only a talking point because he's playing so badly.
As for Martin taking a step back from recruitment that is just more internet nonsense, the transfers this summer will have been a joint effort between Martin, Thelwell and Purdy.

04 Sep 2025 19:53:33
Yes he cost us money.

04 Sep 2025 20:20:05
A signing on fee can go to a player in contract to persuade him to sign

Is that not the case ed.

{Ed001's Note - yes.}

04 Sep 2025 20:22:28
Rothwell wasn't free.

04 Sep 2025 20:26:07
My bad thought he was a free transfer.

04 Sep 2025 20:56:09
Funny the two with the biggest wages have been the two worst players - Aaron's and rothwell. I still have hope rothwell will turn it around but Aaron's I hold less hope for.

04 Sep 2025 21:09:10
Someone on here said Leeds fans wanted Rothwell to stay there, think it was 2 fans, though I know 6 that said no chance he killed the game every time he got the ball and hey ho he does that here, whines about 2nd balls he should be on to and is too slow to do it or understand it. Worst signing in decades no even close to Dowell in that regard. Aarons has got something I think but it's not too clear.

04 Sep 2025 21:26:25
If it's not all paid up front which I highly doubt
Classic case of amortisation ?.

04 Sep 2025 21:26:56
Rothwell is a good footballer and will get better he admitted himself he hasn't been good. Leeds fans were gutted to lose him.

04 Sep 2025 21:56:54
Wish - and the two Martin himself handpicked.

04 Sep 2025 22:11:18
I liked rothwell but looks a far different ayer from two years ago far less mobile maybe age hitting.

Also now getting the fear that it's just another barton situation English defensive mids juat don't seem to transfer well to us recently for some reason.

04 Sep 2025 22:13:46
Wage bill definitely isn't down, if it was it will only be a couple of grand. Chermiti was on 30k at Everton, Igamane the player he replaced was 7k a week and Chermiti's probably increased to come here. Most championship players are 15k plus and will go up coming here.

04 Sep 2025 22:17:53
John is always the man to listen to when it comes to finances and contracts

Very well informed and clearly knows his stuff.

The signing in fee is a good point how it's paid over contract.

Is this what happened woth Alfredo when he ended up on a crazy wage. Paid a signing on deal with new contract,

04 Sep 2025 23:35:40
Rothwell I seen the last couple of seasons is nothing like the player am seeing right now.

04 Sep 2025 23:34:02
Martin never used him as a six at Southampton either he was a 8 Downes was his 6, Rothwell doesn't even look close to match fit.

05 Sep 2025 02:15:51
John same article said Arrons was 25k we were paying plus bonuses.

Gees nothing to do with liking anyone or not ?‍♂️.

05 Sep 2025 06:53:09
Given Thelwell says our net spend was circa £20m and the difference between transfer fees was only 4-5m I have doubts the signing fees are spread out. High loan fees and signing on fees for 13 players explains the other 15m. Whether or not it's the signing on fee it still end up his wage. The same possibly was the case for all the players we've been complaining about and the high wages bill we needed to reduce.

05 Sep 2025 07:12:48
Stevie g u can easily google info and find salary sites. Also selling teams and foreign clubs provide more info on salary than Scotland

I look at three or four look at ball park Some sits even give salary payments monthly re finance payments slip.

They r probably not 100% but a reasonable accurate idea.

05 Sep 2025 07:14:04
Stevie sorry yes re Alf. Also Goldson and Tav got good signing on fee when contract extended.

05 Sep 2025 08:30:21
Storm cool, do u know if we r paying all off arrons wages.

05 Sep 2025 09:28:43
We just paid £8m + £2m add ons for a striker with a worse goal return than my 9 yr old son. Rothwell outlay is least if my concerns.

05 Sep 2025 09:56:14
Rothwell, Aaron's, Djiga and Meghoma are all earning in excess of £1m a year.

A lot of what is available online is basic salary, so doesn't include performance bonuses.

05 Sep 2025 11:28:47
It is not fair to judge Rothwell, or any other player, whilst performing in this team and under this managers' tactics. Rothwell is without doubt a decent player but is underperforming, as is everyone associated with the club. Therefore, what salary his is or isn't on is irrelevant.

05 Sep 2025 11:50:21
John I would highly doubt we are reports saying Arrons was on 34/ 35k at Bournemouth.

05 Sep 2025 13:57:31
Where did you hear those figures John? Hopefully not the same person that told you Cammy Devlin was signing ?.

05 Sep 2025 14:20:55
Heard Derek Ferguson make a comment about how it's a shame we don't have a decent manager with state Celtic are in. I fear he's right and this could be a missed opportunity for us this year.

05 Sep 2025 16:47:58
What does he know markger? Think the Ferguson's should button it.
I think Rothwell will come good. Time to settle, fitness improves and hopefully see the benefits.

05 Sep 2025 17:50:15
Also find it funny i bring up how club are paying for all players and get heavy criticism but someone brings up a players wage that isn't performing and people all agree

Funny how one not concerning folk but the other does.

05 Sep 2025 18:01:09
Storm your post never openly stated whether you like Rothwell or not (we obviously know you don't and he has been mince so far) but what your post does do Is insinuate he should be getting nowhere near 28k a week because erm you don't like him because he's not been good enough. that's the reason for the for and against responses.

05 Sep 2025 18:53:09
He shouldn't be getting anywhere near that Yellowstone and I hope the boy comes onto a game like every other signing we have made. I don't want any one to fail at Rangers even Martin.

Forever what are you blabbering on about?

05 Sep 2025 19:46:42
Stormtrooper,30 grand a week is about a quarter of a million per season .

{Ed001's Note - your maths is very suspect - it is over 1.5m!}

05 Sep 2025 20:02:49
Ed, bad misprint on my behalf, I meant one and a quarter million honestly.

{Ed001's Note - it is 1.56m to be precise mate.}

05 Sep 2025 20:41:12
A zero poster calling out John, someone with a new name no doubt.

05 Sep 2025 20:52:45
Ed, I honestly thought football player were only paid 10 months wages per season bh there club, don't know were I got that idea from, imd a 68 year old, did clubs ever only pay players for ten months of football, ? , I thought the shut down in the summer caused the ten month pay thing, was it ever as such when I was a boy, cheers Ed,

{Ed001's Note - they used to get lower pay in the summer, yes.}

05 Sep 2025 22:37:10
Bournemouth, Southampton and Leeds were not 'desperate ' to keep Rothwell and they didn't try to . He's eligible to play for Scotland and always has been and no stampede there either.
