I posted yesterday that it was expected that a decision would be reached yesterday with the hope of an announcement today.
1st part completed yesterday
2nd part hopefully complete today.
16 Oct 2025 11:14:37
Asa, I know you'll support whoever wears the tie but how do you think this whole process will be reflected on cause lessons need to be learned here.
16 Oct 2025 11:21:34
I will support whoever is chosen.
I am unhappy with the process as I feel that we have went for s crowd pleaser rather than who we think can carry out the long term strategy.
It was admitted that we got Martin and shopped primarily in England due to that market being what we knew.
So no one is telling me that we now have people who have an intimate knowledge of Asian football.
16 Oct 2025 11:23:27
Good news Asa!
16 Oct 2025 11:25:38
I know you asked Asa but here's my thoughts ?
PM, AC and GS took serious notice of fan reaction to KT and PS monumental screwup with RM and subsequent lack of succession planning it left them scrambling to get something sorted asap that could potentially cover as many bases as possible - a proven winner who would be accepted by fans and have a good chance of success at least short/ medium term.
16 Oct 2025 11:56:03
Asa, they've not just went with a crowd pleaser, they've actually went with someone who wins things. It really isn't that difficult? Kevin Muscat has proven he's a winner. He's a leader. He will now know markets we've been stubborn to look into because of a certain club. Muscat is the right person for the job. His football is also very attractive. Not sure why people wouldn't want that.
16 Oct 2025 12:06:47
We did the same with Clement with better players.
16 Oct 2025 12:12:47
If we weren't going to change the current failed strategy we would have been as well sticking with Martin. Things had to change from what we were doing under previous regimes but how we do that is important. We need to appoint the right man and now that we can actually support him financially things should turn around. I don't expect miracles but equally I don't expect to be 8th in the league and back to getting humped in Europe.
16 Oct 2025 12:16:26
It's also not the cheap option as we have to pay money to get him.
16 Oct 2025 12:31:07
Are we confident that Muscat will at least kick backsides and sideline those that are not up for it. He was like that as a player.
16 Oct 2025 12:26:55
Do you think Muscat is a crowd pleaser Asathor? I think it smacks of desperation. I'll support Muscat but his appointment does nothing for me. Same time I don't think anyone worth their salt wants the job. Poisoned chalice comes to mind.
16 Oct 2025 12:30:26
Chasni mate. Surely you can't be serious saying wins things? We have no real insight to what the Asian trophy's he's won have been in terms of accomplishment. Only relevant experience is a quick flop in Belgium. Hope he's does well but seems the board have went from a manager the fans really didn't want to one some really want, their chance to say it's your fault this time'.
16 Oct 2025 13:47:31
My gut feeling is that Musky will surprise us and in a good way? - win games play attacking football and if he brings a gem or two from leagues he knows who we may profit on then what's not to like - one thing is for certain he will not suffers fools gladly and that's what our club needs in the here and now -I am looking forward to better days fellow bears and bearettes?.
16 Oct 2025 13:50:18
All parts completed by Rangers re Muscat just to settle now with his current club, no more wild guesswork and attention seeking needed here now.
16 Oct 2025 14:02:09
Appreciate all your posts Asa, you're one of the few posters I look out for in times like this as your info is key.
I'm all for the new long-term goals and strategy however with martin it seemed that this was at the expense of being competitive for a year or two which would be classed as acceptable to teams in the championship where a trophy every year is a dream however for us that's a no go and we demand we win every year. As you know were a demanding bunch of fans for who finishing 2nd isn't acceptable. That's why I believe we went for Gerrard.
I don't think it was at the expense of the long term plan I think he could have fitted in with it but it was certainly a crowd pleasing move much like Muscat is in a way as there had been a clamouring of fans wanting him for a while now even before Beale and PC. I'd be curious to know your thoughts on Muscat and the long term role he plays in the system.
16 Oct 2025 14:05:59
Stewart expected to make a statement after train spotting later today. before the scrabble club he's team captain there.
16 Oct 2025 14:08:42
Get Davie Weir in and bungle and zippy out.
16 Oct 2025 14:13:42
All parts done and completed.
16 Oct 2025 14:24:44
Well, the last Aussie to "win things" in Japan didn't do too bad here - so it can't be that crap, can it?
There's a few on here with short memories. When he left Japanese football after winning the league, and came here to manage them, we couldn't lay a glove on him accept in the SC semi. That was it!
Some would rather have a 36 year old with no experience except for finishing 12th in the English Championship, whose team hemorrhaged goals, and who could only string together a 5 game winning streak, rather than a multiple trophy winning boss. Aye, you all know what you are talking about! ???.
16 Oct 2025 14:36:54
Guys come on muscat is a top manager and exactly what we need. Strict, exciting attacking playing style, knowledge of a market we rarely tap into and has won titles in Oz, Japan and China - and they're not easy titles to win especially the Japanese league - plus he has played for us at a time when we were dominant and he knows the expectations - much prefer this appointment to Gerrard who has the box office appeal and can attract players but isn't a great manager imo - rohl I don't think would have been a disaster as some think but muscat is the man to take us forward - excited about this and hope it happens.
16 Oct 2025 14:47:00
Marky don't know how it's desperation having to pay 1.5 million to get him for a start and we are willing to wait for him. Rangers biggest issue is the support gurantee 5 minutes in this Saturday the moans and groans will have started already.
16 Oct 2025 14:52:26
Good luck Stevie Smith and the guys for Saturday hopefully he doesn't remove himself from the process or have to listen to Stewart or Thelwell.
16 Oct 2025 14:56:52
Sollof19… I'm not sure what you're getting at mate. It's evident Muscat has won things. Break it down. He's won 7 titles in 3 different countries, and in 2 different continents. Two countries he doesn't even speak the language in. That's impressive. He's won the cup double for the first time in the clubs history last season in China. We are not in a position to judge anyone's league. Every league is different and he adapted superbly in those countries. People can mention his stint in Belgium, but that was his very first job. The reality is, he improved working as Postecoglou's assistant. Also if you look at @zimmerman_72 profile on X. He tweeted a lot of information about Muscat and his teams. His teams have been poor ever since he left. He actually overachieved. Muscat deserves this job on merit, not because he's someone's pal, because he is t.
16 Oct 2025 15:29:05
Indeed Chasni deserves the job on Merit.
Muscats win ratio since he started managing to date is 52.36 %.
Other Rangers managers with similar win ratios.
53.85 % - Pedro Caixinha.
51.61 % - Paul Le Guen.
So based on merit if Muscat (aka desperation Plan C) is our next manager he will be better than Le guen but worse than Pedro, we are so lucky the 49ers came in to save us, clubs definately on the up, Celtic and Hearts will be scared silly now.
We should have our Conference League qualifier in the bag by the final game of the season.
Another treble for Celtic it is then, cheers 49ers.
16 Oct 2025 15:45:11
Imagine my shock ASA bagging someone he didn't want. Broken record …. Couldn't get back on here quick enough after Gerrard fell through probably thinking it was "Rohl" another rookie! Tell you what take him to Brann ?.
16 Oct 2025 16:30:26
I'm genuinely concerned that the names mentioned are the same as the summer. In a whole world of football we seem to be constrained to 1/ 2 dozen candidates.
Very concerning that we don't have a handle on football beyond the end of our noses. For me Hearts knowledge of football markets far and wide are going to put us to shame in the coming years.
16 Oct 2025 16:47:16
So because Simone done well in Japan before and came here then who we are getting will do well ? that is irrelevant ?♂️.
16 Oct 2025 17:18:32
LMAC what is your problem?
16 Oct 2025 17:53:53
Only problem is where he won the trophies, but can only beat what's infront of you, leagues in three countries gets some respect, let's see what he does at Rangers, hopefully a very successful time
??.
16 Oct 2025 18:11:50
Laudruphagi ahh another one going on percentage. why did we sack beale was he not 70 odd % or ally mccosit was 78%. Why didnwe let these guys go?
16 Oct 2025 18:13:08
Muscat is thee best candidate we could have got of the shortlist which has been produced!
16 Oct 2025 18:31:18
Asa I'd just scroll past and ignore mate.
16 Oct 2025 18:32:05
I have to laugh at all the people who are happy to have Muscat because of how well, Ange did. What a bizarre reason for wanting someone to manage Rangers.
16 Oct 2025 18:39:40
Asa i don't see how that matters, ange would have been one telling Celtic who to go get from that market do see why muscat can't point out few potential bargains himself also, Muscat came through English football as well did he not?
Real issue for me is going to be if Thelwell son up to task or not.
16 Oct 2025 18:43:35
RFC you don't think he's a desperation appointment after being rejected by Gerrard, Dyche, Lampard, Rohl etc and god knows how many others? You don't think the plan was to have someone in place for Saturday. He's absolutely a desperation appointment. No one else wants it.
17 Oct 2025 01:13:10
Marky just like Ange? remember he was a late call after waiting on a man for months, Muscat has a better record in both Japan and Australia than him, not a man i was after but he's got my backing now.
