There is so much rubbish out there a don't know what to believe. A got a message saying our owners flying out to Bahrain does anyone else hear this or is it more rubbish?
15 Oct 2025 15:25:13
I was told an hour ago that Thelwell was told work under Gerrard or leave but it's like everything else constant rumours. I hate also heard Muscat ruled himself out and Rohl wanted to be in place for weekend or not at all.
15 Oct 2025 15:27:28
The only info I've got that I can share I have, and it's been pretty consistent throughout -
Interviewed 4 candidates, all of whom were asked to present their backroom team and asked to ensure they met specific requirements.
Gerrard has withdrawn due to issues around his proposed backroom team.
Of the remaining three there are two preferred candidates.
One aligns with the current vision and strategy.
The other would deviate from this path and be viewed as a shorter term appointment with a view to stability.
The third candidate, also aligns with the vision and strategy, and hasn't been ruled out.
Some of this comes direct from someone involved in the process and some comes from piecing together rumours / rumblings from those close to the club.
15 Oct 2025 15:28:25
I hope not.
We shouldn't be bending over backwards for Gerrard.
15 Oct 2025 15:31:52
Yeah don't believe that for a second lol.
15 Oct 2025 15:44:48
My auld dear has just phoned me, said she heard exact same in the butchers ??.
15 Oct 2025 15:49:57
What was she in for bomba. Good stovie weather mate lol ?.
15 Oct 2025 15:59:04
Ehl I'm sure you've named the 4 previously but could you possibly remind us of the names?
15 Oct 2025 16:04:48
EHL, is the third candidate Bilic? Assume the other 2 are Rohl and Muscat.
15 Oct 2025 16:07:40
So what your saying EHL is 2 align with the current vision and strategy what ever that is?
only strategy and vision we are seeing, is sack old manager, hire new manager, rebuild team, fail, sack manager, hire new manager, rebuild team, fail, sack. you get the drift.
Do we have another vision and strategy, do share.
15 Oct 2025 16:12:46
You're 100% correct.
Bahrain bound to sign contract.
15 Oct 2025 16:27:12
The owners have obviously let it sink in they have no better candidate than Gerrard, he made it clear what is required to stabilize and strengthen the squad and bring success back to Ibrox again, the balls in the owners court now if they are serious, or they can mess about trying to convince some 3rd rate manager to become the next chapter in our clubs regression, only to be back at square one in another 12 months (if they get that long)
15 Oct 2025 16:29:31
Ehl u get a lot of credence on here mate but your telling us nothing we don't already know.
15 Oct 2025 16:34:12
EHL, any indication of when the process/ interviews will be over and a decision made from your friend who's involved?
15 Oct 2025 16:36:04
LaudrupHagi, I'm pretty confident the new ownership group have outlined there strategy/ vision and I can't imagine it would be difficult to find if you were motivated enough to do so.
Granted the appointment of Martin was a spectacular failure, but not quite sure how you can link the previous managerial merry-go-round with the current owners?
Essentially the question that is being asked is was the damage done under Martin significant enough to merit a short - mid term stabilisation plan? Or is the club still in a position to move forward with the existing plan.
Appreciate that many be an overly pragmatic way to view the situation, but that's ultimately where I believe we are.
15 Oct 2025 16:39:48
TrueBlue - I actually started my post by stating that I've already shared everything I can - so there should have been an expectation that what followed wouldn't be new.
I was just summarising the position as I understand it, in response to the original post.
Apologies if it wasn't worthy of your time.
15 Oct 2025 16:41:03
Was Stevie g problem, a certain mr b?, tune in next week.
15 Oct 2025 16:41:38
Drew, absolutely no idea.
One thing is for sure, the owners don't seem to rush any decision - lol, I mean it took them long enough to pull the trigger on Martin!
15 Oct 2025 16:41:50
Laudruphagi Gerrard is a 3rd rate manager to and he achieved nothing bar 1 league title at the third time of asking against a poor Celtic team compared to now. I can tell you what is needed to stabilise the club, strengthen and bring success and that's stop sacking every manager and allow them multiple windows to build a team like Gerrard got, he's the one that screwed up the wage structure to begin with before him Warburton and the likes had free agents and buttons for wages that no one seems to remember. Gerrard had less experience than Rohl when took the Rangers job.
15 Oct 2025 16:46:34
Ehl also stated RM would not be manager 3 days before he was appointed. No offence mate, but you know as much as we all do atm.
15 Oct 2025 16:47:59
Assuming we get the shorter term manager (guessing Muscat though plays highly attacking football) on Ange like 12 month rolling deal, would it not be better getting the other somehow as an assistant to learn under them about the club then takeover. No assurance they'd still be available or have another the matches the style.
15 Oct 2025 16:50:07
True blue that's why he said he had already shared it.
15 Oct 2025 16:52:56
How do folk know what the directors are up to. never heard so much tripe in all my life. Truth is no-one knows what's happening and crap is just being made up.
15 Oct 2025 16:56:38
TrueBlueRab - The reason we know a lot of that info is thanks to people like EHL. He openly said in the first line of his post "The only info I've got that I can share I have, and it's been pretty consistent throughout"
15 Oct 2025 17:20:05
I met a guy in Tesco bakery and he said we would have a manager in 8-10 days (seems a consistent time frame for us???)
Sterling due back in about the same time frame!
15 Oct 2025 17:23:22
Yes man for Thelwell and that melt Stewart as the owners are guided by aforementioned pair, that's the way or no way it's a shambles, huge club huge following and in the hands of people with no clue as to what they are involved in.
15 Oct 2025 17:28:13
I'm sick fed up with it all it was bad enough in the summer now constant bs everyday it's embarrassing can't have a manager in place after 2 week break.
15 Oct 2025 17:40:51
Good info EHL thanks for the post ?
It's important to get this right after the summer but huge few weeks for players to prove themselves.
15 Oct 2025 17:45:58
Thanks EHL! Appreciate all your bring to the page, presume Stevie smith will be in charge for the weekend game! Even if they bring someone in tomorrow now no point them getting the reigns until next week!
15 Oct 2025 17:47:36
Oh dear ChrisMac - you are correct that I know about as much as others, and what I share are rumours / speculation.
However, your comment is a blatant lie. At no point during the recruitment process did I ever say it wasn't going to be Martin and I certainly didn't 3 days before he was announced.
Hope posting that made you feel better about yourself though.
15 Oct 2025 17:54:25
They don't get the correct man they go again, three managers in first year at Leeds United, hopefully number two is spot on.
15 Oct 2025 18:06:51
0-0 poster talking ? I see.
15 Oct 2025 18:08:37
But blue have u ever sat on a panel to recruit a manager to a top level team.
Ehl, and people wonder why we bother,
15 Oct 2025 18:31:34
Your right John, its easy to judge when you have never been involved.
15 Oct 2025 18:48:27
Any info wise John?
I'll be your best friend.
Please.
15 Oct 2025 18:51:01
Its great on here, someone doesn't want us to cow tow to Gerrard by sacking Thelwell when most have been screaming for Thelwell to be sacked. Another says that Gerrard won the league against a poor Celtic team, who had just won 9 in a row by the way, and that he was responsible for driving the wages up. High earners recently Davies, Matondo, Lawrence, Yilmaz, Dowell, Cantwell, Sterling, all guys who contributed nothing, some who we lost a fortune on fees, paid their wages to play elsewhere and can't even sell, all after Gerrard left. You can decry him if you like but without him we would be looking at 15 in a row and we wouldn't have had the team that got to the Europa under Gio and wouldn't have the money we got for Aribo, Bassey, Kamara and Sakala.
15 Oct 2025 18:58:49
This site is always worth a 5 minute scroll but anyone who hangs on the words of any other poster needs to check in to a clinic. Considering we have had a complete change of ownership, board, manage, back room, players and youth set up but interestingly the same 'in the know guys' have held the inside track for the past 5 years - seriously.
I enjoy the banter, I have no axe to grind, but I'm not taking anything on this 'rumours' site as in anyway factual or 'inside info'
It's just a shame that so many others do, and by that account vilify men who serve our club due to a rumoured comment on a site like this.
15 Oct 2025 19:19:09
Ehl just ignore the idiots not worth the time.
15 Oct 2025 19:43:56
No one knows anything but we certainly can't blame Martin for this current ongoing farce, Thelwell and the oddball are to blame and those that advised the owners to employ the 2 planks. None of us know much about the owners but they have said those two are their guiding lights and that is incredible.
15 Oct 2025 20:57:14
There's a lot of mischief making and attempted points scoring on this site at present. Cavanagh and Maratha are high value, experienced, successful businessmen, who will take their time after the Martin fiasco, to ensure they appoint who they believe to be the best person to achieve the success they want. It won't be left to others for a second time.
