Led to believe that the club made a last ditch attempt today to convince Gerrard to return.
Again he has declined.
The board have tried and are not at fault for this.

I know we have no right to know why, but giving us time isn't right is a load of horse poop.

If my reputation and my job depends on results then I pick the players.

The board will get pelters next week and rightly so for the farce of the last six months, they could put PEP in the hot seat but it will not matter, Ibrox will continue to be toxic until those two clowns are shown the door.

You've no idea if the board are or aren't at fault. If they've chosen to keep the current structure / roles and responsibilities then yes, they are at fault.
12 Oct 2025 18:15:53
Because they wouldn't change their entire structure to pander to a job applicant they're at fault (if structure is the issue)?
Interesting take.
FWIW if that was Gerard's demand I'd think less of them if they crumbled to it. He's entitled but to want to work that way, but if that's the structure they think stops us rebuilding every time a coach leaves then there's an impasse.

Fans will Blame the Board Gerrard will spin it to make him look Good the Board will keep quit . truth is we won't know . But if it's the Boards fault why is it being Reported. Backroom staff were being saught. Could be Gerrard's wife thought he was away for a pint of milk . then found out it was a job interview and phoned and told him to get his arse home .

If it is Rohl, then good luck to him and i hope he proves everyone wrong. But if it goes very wrong, then hopefully it gives the supporters just cause to hold the owners to account. One wrong appointment can be fixed, but to get it so wrong again is negligent.

Do Man City, arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool not operate the same system with a head coach?
12 Oct 2025 19:41:17
It's his neck on the line gdog, in my opinion the working structure should be based around letting the manager succeed. Doing it the other way is like the tail wagging the dog.
12 Oct 2025 19:51:28
What City do is cheat the financial fair play rules, their framework is irrelevant although it's interesting to see them deteriorating when forced to follow the rules. Arsenal - one trophy in 5 years (3 in 10)
Liverpool - four trophies, bit more success intermingle I think Klopps title was manager, if that's the case there's a bit more weight around my point.
Chelsea: 1 major trophy (3 if you include that conference rubbish or the thing in America) .
Again, I'll be gutted if we turn into the Scottish Arsenal or Chelsea. I'd prefer the manager route of Klopp (if that was the case) .
Again, these are just an opinion for discussion, I'm not saying I'm right or you guys should change your opinion.

How does the OP the board is not to blame? Just cause they asked again? Ridiculous.
12 Oct 2025 21:41:29
I disagree entirely Dado: that's why we've had a rebuild every season the last 5 managers who left.
That's what we're trying to get away from (and rightly so) .
If you allow a manager to build a cottage industry around themselves then when they decide to move on, or you decide to move them on, you have to tear it down and start again.
A head coach can absolutely succeed in the structure Rangers are trying to implement and there are many examples of that at hugely successful clubs.
If an applicant doesn't want to work in that structure, they're perfectly entitled to that view, but that doesn't make the structure wrong just because 80% of the fanbase like the applicant.
If it was related to the structure, Gerard knew that going in. If he truly expected them to change it just for him, I'm glad they didn't.
That's the best thing for the club long term and I personally don't care what Gerard viewed a the best thing for him short term.

How has Gerrard spun it Stew, only thing he supposed of said is not the right time, don't think Gerrard will say anything more at moment, looks like they couldn't agree on something and that's it, hopefully the question is asked to the board to see their reply.
12 Oct 2025 22:44:25
Mcminn - Gerrard was well aware of the situation and circumstances prior to engaging in face to face talks.
The 49ers and Cavenagh don't brief the media, so take that into account when you read anything from journalists down south.

I guess we'll just need to agree to disagree gdog, I respect your view it just doesn't work for me and I believe we'll continue to churn out managers every 8 or 9 months, especially if we continue the awful recruitment policy.
