I am like many fans, bemused at the complete mismanagement of our great Club. To put all your eggs in one basket and to be left with no plan B reeks of Warburton / Martin business tactics. We appear to have the same apathy and disdain for selecting a manager as we do for not signing the best Scottish players.

2 managers who would steady our ship are on our doorstep in Scotland Mr McInnes and Mr Robinson whilst 1 is over the water doing a great job with N. Ireland.

Our best and most successful managers Mr Wallace, Mr Souness, Mr McLeish and Mr Smith were all Scottish and three had little experience but all went on to become Club legends.

The names being touted and mentioned after SG's second refusal in 6 months are very disappointing and proves the total disregard for the Best Scotland has to offer.

McInnes, Robinson or O'Neil would be far superior to any of the project/ philosophy names being touted. We are NOT nor should ever be viewed or accepted as a project Club.

I sincerely hope our custodians experience a light bulb moment and seriously start considering options that are right under their noses in their own back yard.
We need a leader, figure head and Manager and McInnes, Robinson or O'Neil would fit the bill.

Totally agree. Have said it for years with McInnes and Shankland because many fans have had the same blinkers. I feel this may be changing now.

You kind of shoot yourself in the foot there all of the above were project managers when they first joined the club and they roared to success

Indeed Walter Smith had never managed a team at all when he took over the Rangers job and led us to 9iar.

Good post John.

Absolutely agree. Robinson would be my preference. Does a great job with very little resources. He would take himself to the next level at our club and could quite possibly go on to join that illustrious list of names you mentioned.

Don't want either.

St Mirren, Hearts, Falkirk managers would do a good job at Rangers.

I really hate the phrase 'project manager' - i actually have no idea what it means.

Not really Goram, in a managerial sense Souness had none, Smith had worked as an assistant under some big names and McLeish had progressed with Motherwell and Hibs.

Guys, souness had the advantage of England teams being banned from EU competition and could bring in stars we could never have dreamed of. When SWS took over i had the fear because like mentioned above he didn't have management experience and to be honest i didn't know much about his background and googling him in those days was impossible. however he did inherit Sounesses team so had a strong foundation and kicked on from there.

To me Mcleish worked wonders, we were in turmoil with having to sell and raise funds, if i remember rightly did he not bring in more sales that costs as a Rangers manager than anyone else. so to do what he did with his hands behind his back was astonishing.
