Guys I know many had went all in on a Gerrard return but the facts are that he has rejected Rangers once again.
I have seen many posts abusing Stewart, Thelwell and the owners.
Have opinion yes no one can tell you not too but I am asking to please look objectively.
The owners bought the club and they set the direction and structure.
Stewart and Thelwell have left a lot to be desired but they are as dispensable and replaceable as any manager within this Red Bull style structure.
They will not contemplate any manager trying to dictate the way they run their business.
If they were open to a true manager then Kjetil Knutsen is the exceptional choice.
I always said if Gerrard was appointed i would support him with everything I have got.
I ask you now, will you do the same for any manager selected?
This is Rangers Football Club not Steven Gerrard FC.

Well said Asa.
I really hope the groaning doesn't start again quickly just because its not Gerrard. I would actually hazard a guess that Rohl is probably regarded higher than Gerrard is. Personally wanted a manager type but you can't argue with the owners structure or plans, i accept that. Just because Martin failed doesn't mean every head coach will.

Our proper support will support no matter who Asathor, but we just feel like we have been kicked in the guts far too often. It is taking its toll on us and this is why it needs to be absolutely spot on this time.

Completely agree Asa, well said.

As much as i don't rate PS. or KT in the slightest, i feel if they didn't hire martin we probably would never hear about them, but now fans have them under a microscope, regarding any decision they make, to how they sit in their chair at games. I also don't believe the 2 were completely excluded from the process, that would mean 2 men on very good salaries, sitting at home while the owners do their jobs for them.
But we don't know the ins and outs, and gerrards demands could well have been excessive, whether that be his own wages, squad wages, or transfer budget, as rich as our owners are, ffp affects us. So when talks break down, ps and tk are always going to get the blame as they are not held in the best regard by fans, and sg is by many, even though we have no idea what the main issue is, and the press obviously play up to the popular theme to get clicks and sell papers.
I personally think he would have done well, got the players fit and improved the youngsters, but like u say, its not Gerrard fc, I've said before i would be happy with any of them, and i still would, russel martin was the biggest problem we had and he's gone now, and if we get the right man in we won't notice ps and kt half as much.

Totally agree ASA, we can't start hounding a manager from Day 1 just because he wasn't 1st choice and Gerrard turned us down. Whoever it is we need to get behind them. And plenty other teams operate a head coach system and it works really well, we just had the wrong guy in Martin.

Martin shouldn't have been appointed. Half the players and loans shouldn't have been brought in. It's okay to have a business model but sometimes the same approach won't work in other environments. I believe this is what's happening here. Probably looked a structure, filled the posts based on the plan, bought players based on the plan, opps wrong environment.

The concern for me right now is the personality and aura of the new manager as much as technical skill set.
After the 'beasting' Russell Martin gave to the confidence of the squad, I'd imagine they despised him.
A Gerrard would have commanded instant respect, and I believe he would have had that squad ready to run through walls for him.
For all the things he didn't have, he did have that. And he also knew what it takes to win at Ibrox.
That's why I think they should have gone all out to get him. This was a unique situation that I think suited Steven Gerrard and the squad at least for the next 2 years.
If this conversation were happening pre-Russell Martin, we have many more options. I don't see a Danny Rohl commanding instant respect. He would need to earn it, and that takes time. And if the players didn't give it, he would want to replace them etc. etc.
We need a big name, an experienced man. No more gambling on up and coming "progressive" types. Not yet, certainly not now.

Exactly Windy. One size does not fit all.
