Poll ed

What should we play against sheep

451 or 442.

{Ed033's Note -

Rangers Formation

03 Feb 2019 21:15:10
4-2-3-1.

04 Feb 2019 08:47:41
I think we prob will go the usual 4231, has to be mccrorie jack arfield kent candieas morelos. Any news on goldson being fit? I read a bit last night that we had made contact with liverpool about extending kent's loan or getting him permanently. Hope this is true. 👍.

04 Feb 2019 09:11:30
4231
Mcgregor
Tav katic Goldson/ Worral Barasic
Mccrorie jack
Candias Arfield Kent
Morelos.

04 Feb 2019 09:58:33
They'll be utilizing their trusted 10-0-0 formation, that's for sure.

04 Feb 2019 11:24:12
Seems to work for them against us cuillin, we need to be tactically better than them, remember we played
10 0 0 on our way to the uefa cup final 👍.

04 Feb 2019 12:32:00
I wouldn’t personally want McInnes as a Rangers manager but one has to admit he is doing a great job at Aberdeen on limited resources.

04 Feb 2019 13:03:55
Think they have a tried and tested 10-0-0 against us and it has worked reasonably well for them.
OUR job is to break it down and don't be ar**holes at the back!

04 Feb 2019 16:38:46
Correct bar72. Ulsterman, he has done a good job. People say he hasn't beat celtic, up until last month neither had we. He consistently gets to finals and is always up at the top end of the league. He has over achieved on his budget. Yip he knocked us back and people will always take issue with that👍.

04 Feb 2019 16:55:50
For sure, it is up to us to break them down. Need to mix it up a bit on Wednesday. And I do remember us playing 'anti football' on occasion against quality sides but not like we are Barca. Got to say I have a huge dislike for Aberdeen, think it is to do with the 'wee man' attitude they have as a club.

04 Feb 2019 17:33:45
We don't play 4-5-1 and what variation of 4-4-2 are we voting for?

03 Feb 2019 18:28:10
Looking forward to Michael Stewart's meltdown as he disproves every rangers penalty 🤣🤣🇬🇧🇬🇧.

04 Feb 2019 08:32:15
Saw them for first time last night we were extremely lucky only the first was a penalty but feck it should've had a few mid week.

04 Feb 2019 09:17:45
I think only the first penalty was the correct decision. The others were dubious to say the least, though it wouldn't have mattered to Stewart on Sportscene - he'd have denied it all anyway. We've got to be more lethal in front of goal against the sheep on Wednesday night and it is a must-win match.

04 Feb 2019 15:54:56
Thought I was watching a rerun of only an excuse. Also there was not one, aye not one, mention on the football just the referees, admittedly poor, decisions.

Great to see JD has some real pace left setting up RK.

Davis stills need a good few weeks of fitness work, he should not start for Aberdeen.

I think 4141 against the sheep.
Shag
Tav Worrall? Katic Borna
Mcrorie
Candias Arfield Jack Kent
Fred

7 of that team have scored recently.

03 Feb 2019 18:04:23
Lee Wallace is still a quality player and should be treated as such by SG and RFC.

03 Feb 2019 14:11:28
Just watched matt polster on YouTube looks a player but YouTube would make me look a player as well what do yous guys think?

03 Feb 2019 15:04:15
There’s no point to your question as uv answered it for everyone.

03 Feb 2019 15:55:36
have to totally disagree DSG. YouTube could never make you look a player.

03 Feb 2019 16:41:59
Snail how would u no that 😆😆.

03 Feb 2019 17:20:33
just being a wideo mate 😂 all in good jest.

03 Feb 2019 18:08:48
👍👍 same mate.

04 Feb 2019 11:11:56
Too be fair I don't take a lot from youtube videos but 1 thing that is apparent in a lot of the clips is that he likes to switch it, plays a lot of nice accurate long passes, looks like he can cover the park well, will have to wait and see when he gets his chance I suppose.

04 Feb 2019 17:16:43
Snell, your actually talking a lot of nonsense! I used to play 5 a sides with DSGERFAN and can tell you he's was a right good footballer in his day.

03 Feb 2019 13:19:43
St Johnstone doing well so far.

03 Feb 2019 14:23:26
Not so much now though.

03 Feb 2019 14:25:05
Shouldn’t never put up the other teams doing well against them as inevitable happens.

03 Feb 2019 12:26:50
I think it is clear as day that we must play Wiv 2 wingers, if we playing up top we must play 442 cause we need Candias and Kent on the park together to stretch teams and alow our full backs to push on and play there game correctly. McCrorie and Jack in the middle holding and breaking play up.

Davis is still not up to speed yet IMO he needs to step it up. Would still rather we just played 433 thou and rotate Morelos looks out of sort since definitely started playing with him.

03 Feb 2019 13:18:34
Just hope Stevie G see's that too. Can't go to the play the sheep with the diamond.

03 Feb 2019 14:15:57
Cant go play aberdeen with 2 up either. needs ti be morelos on his own.

03 Feb 2019 14:48:41
I agree paul 86!My team against the sheep would be-
Mcgregor
Tavernier, worrall, katic, barisic,
Jack
Davis, Arfield
Candeias, Morelos, Kent.

03 Feb 2019 14:59:04
Can't believe gerrard tried a diamond again, its so obvious that it doesn't work. Davis slows the play up. We looked much better when davis went off and candieas came on👍.

03 Feb 2019 15:20:24
Davis should be nowhere near the starting 11 for the game against the sheep! We looked great at 442 yesterday with jack and arfield in the cm and defoe and morelos up top. Kent and candieas wide were class. If not that then it should be the usual with jack mccrorie and arfield in the centre with candieas and kent wide. 👍.

03 Feb 2019 15:29:03
I make no apologies for banging on about it but we do not play 4-4-2 well, whether it is a diamond shape or a flat 4-4-2. It has to be 4-5-1, some say 4-3-3, as long as Kent and Candeias are on the wings. With 4-4-2 IMO it is too crowded from 30 yards out, no wingers to stretch the defence and allow our midfield to follow up. Also I don't see Fredo scoring too many more goals with 4-4-2.

03 Feb 2019 15:51:29
Bluetoon, we went 442 yesterday when davis went off for candieas and we blew st mirren away. 👍.

03 Feb 2019 16:07:18
Coldo agree with you re Davis. However playing 2 from Jack/ McCrorie/ Arfield in midfield with Kent and Candeias doesn't exactly fill me with confidence in a 4-4-2.

This will split the forum and could have good opinions from many. We know what SG will do come kick off.

03 Feb 2019 16:17:34
Coldo, there's absolutely no way we should play a 442 formation against the sheep, on wednesday night!

03 Feb 2019 16:19:11
You're correct bluetoon! If we go a 442 against the sheep on wednesday, we would be sacrificing a central midfielder to play that system! No chance!

03 Feb 2019 16:39:15
We looked great when we went 442 yesterday. Are you saying or are you worried that the mighty sheep will pump us if we don't play with 3 cm's? I thought when we went 442 yesterday it was a breathe of fresh air. So why should we not play 442? Don't say aberdeen are better than st mirren. If I remember right we have played with 3 cm's against aberdeen 3 times this season and we have best we have managed is a draw. So playing with 3cm's against them hasn't worked so why not give them defoe and morelos to think about? . After all it worked great yesterday👍.

03 Feb 2019 17:24:19
Morelos plays better when he's the 1 up top, central himself, that's why!

03 Feb 2019 18:13:20
If everyone is fit
McGregor
Taviener, Worrall, Katic, Barsic
Mccrorie, Jack, Arfield
Candeias, Morelos, Kent.

03 Feb 2019 18:32:18
Same as blueberry for me but Goldson in for Worrall if fit! Could define our season this one, 3 points is a must!

03 Feb 2019 18:56:06
He hasn't played well against Aberdeen at all coop, he could do with hand against their defence. The last time at ibrox he couldn't lay a glove on their defence.

03 Feb 2019 19:15:54
Guys the discussion regarding whether we play 4-4-2 diamond or flat, 4-5-1 or 4-3-3 has been a good discussion along with whether Morelas is better on his own or whether he needs help, has been enjoyable to take part in. No mud slinging between prticipants.

03 Feb 2019 19:28:40
up until yesterday I would have said playing 442 was out of the question but when davis went off for candieas and we went 442 I thought we looked great. I also thought defoe and morelos looked to have a good understanding and played well with eachother in the 442.

03 Feb 2019 20:48:58
It seems most agree Steve g has no
Clue about tactics
Defoe must start as we are shipping about 30k a week for him so the manager must rate him very highly
Defoe certainly knows how to take
A dive
The game against Aberdeen is a must
Win to just try and secure second
Place.

03 Feb 2019 22:14:36
Will goldson be fit for the sheep?

04 Feb 2019 17:15:42
Supercoopereleven, would start McCrorie and have Davis on the bench.
McCrorie adds a bit of physical prescence to our midfield.
Like to see us start with a 4-3-3 formation.

03 Feb 2019 11:11:51
Wee song idea for Defoe (don't take to seriously I came up with it steaming at the pub) hahaha

Can't think of anything for the last 3 lines of the chorus if you can think of something chip in with ideas lol

In the tune of Gold by spandau ballet

GOALS!
Always believe in Defoe,
He's got the power to score,
He's indestructible,
Always believe in him.
If you want goals!
------------
------------
------------.

03 Feb 2019 13:22:59
Spurs sang that.

03 Feb 2019 08:53:01
I was reading yet again Ejaria had another MOTM this time against Aston Villa

I know in his time @Rangers fans didn't fancy him
He had some cracking games up here aswell

Think the problem is that he was never built for our league and tackles are a bit crazy up here

You can see the lad has technical ability in abundance

I can also see he shrieked away from the tackles in his later times at ibrox!

Its not his game play up here, where you simply have to get stuck in sometimes to help the rest of the team and perhaps you can also say that he didn't get much time on the ball as he would've liked!

After the small injury up here he never quite

I liked him and I thought his game did improve until he had the one bad game and fans just gave him a roasting as per

Hope he does well where ever goes.

03 Feb 2019 09:35:26
I disagree, he has no heart or commiment and was average for us I thoughtand ran away from a great opportunity to prove to Liverpool he could play under the pressure he would experience at Anfield. He failed the test and will never make it at Liverpool.

03 Feb 2019 09:45:06
He had more than one bad game bud. Had a good spell in the middle of his loan but you could tell towards the end his heart wasn't in it.

03 Feb 2019 09:57:25
It was him that didn't fancy it up here not the other way around. But yeah I agree our league doesn't suit his style.

03 Feb 2019 10:00:43
Good player, great skill on the ball, weak character. Leaving us probably blew any chance he had of making it at Liverpool. Probably found his level.

03 Feb 2019 10:11:02
Poor player in a physically demanding and fast paced league in the spfl it didn’t suit him, he will never make the grade at liverpool.

03 Feb 2019 10:32:46
Playing at a higher level than the SPFL that's for sure, even near bottom of table. Rangers aren't the be all and end all, you know.

03 Feb 2019 11:03:32
cullen 72 hope you drag your own mob into that comment, biggest majority of championship teams in england are garbage.

03 Feb 2019 12:26:25
I said at the time that if he really had it in him to be a great player he would have worked harder to impose his own game on the league. Just because the style of play doesn't suit you is no reason to turn and run.

03 Feb 2019 13:49:24
He wasn’t good enough, nice tidy player but he didn’t make a difference. Went round in circles and most passes were sideways. Lack heart and desire, he’s gone hence enough said.

03 Feb 2019 13:59:32
The championship in England is far more superior to the spl. Dundee and st mirren would probably be closer to the English conference.

03 Feb 2019 16:45:55
Truebluesotrue, I only ever comment on my 'own mob', if you can't accept that some Rangers fans can see without blue tinted specs so be it.

03 Feb 2019 08:49:47
Great move by Tav to insist Defoe takes the final penalty. To be honest it was the move of a genuine leader and club captan, a role some on here (including myself) have in the past questioned his capability to perform. Well done Tav!

03 Feb 2019 10:35:24
I think the bigger picture is that Tav had the mental capacity to see that Defoe is trying to get in about it and there were flashes of what he's been doing all of his career. Giving him the chance to get a goal might give him an extra half yard and some confidence, the example is after he scored the penalty he scampered through in typical Defoe style then waited for Kent, slipped Kent in and he took it really well.
I would like to see Defoe get a few, he has been unlucky a few times so good to see him get one.

03 Feb 2019 10:37:07
It was also good to see him give Morelos a blast when he spat the dummy out.

03 Feb 2019 11:16:52
Good player with ball at his feet use to go around in circles a lot and never lift his head up not cut up mentally up here.

03 Feb 2019 08:25:30
What's all the winging about the penalties yesterday they were all penalties simple as that the one with candias is simple the rule states if you hold on a player outside the box and it continues into the box is a penalty end of the other 3 were straight forward in fact we should have had a fifth one when morelos was brought down I don't here them saying anything about that that mob get a penalty in every game!

03 Feb 2019 09:46:15
2nd one was never a pen mate, defoe admitted do himself.

03 Feb 2019 12:29:07
2nd on was never a foul and the 4th one is hard to tell if it was in or out. Definite foul but looked like it started outside the box although the majority of the tussle was probably inside.

03 Feb 2019 20:53:45
I think to be fair 2 out the 5 were penalties and 1 out of the four given. We would be pretty pissed off if any of these were given against us.

03 Feb 2019 00:33:09
Yet again the atmosphere at Ibrox was tame today. If it wasn’t for BF1 the place would be like a morgue. Can’t help but wonder how much it affects the players as the last home game every single one of them went above and beyond. Why is it we can only raise the roof against Celtic?

03 Feb 2019 08:47:12
Agree I feel as if it was loud at all home games it would but fear into the opposition but it only seems to be European nights or against Celtic that any noise is made,

03 Feb 2019 12:20:45
From an old timer, nothing new there, . Move on.

03 Feb 2019 00:01:02
Maybe just me, but I thought Morelos was poor today.
I think the guy thought he would be away down South and he was lucky again to stay on the park because of his attitude.
This could be similar to first season when he went backwards after the transfer window didn't give him what he wanted.
Hope not, but I wasn't impressed, especially with some of the rants at his fellow teammates.

03 Feb 2019 08:00:19
you are wrong. he played well. He moans all the time and is only happy when he scores.

03 Feb 2019 08:03:25
I was per usual at ibrox yesterday but didn't think morelos was poor mate. I didn't think he was outstanding, but he definitely wasn't poor. As well as his goals, he brings so much to the rangers team! For the record ryan kent yesterday, was easily the best player on the park!
Although i do prefer him on the left wing, as opposed to playing at the forward point of a diamond! He's a terrific winger and hope to god we can keep him permanently, or at the very worst, on another season long loan deal!

03 Feb 2019 08:36:22
Bar 72 so what he moans so does my wife but I wouldn’t give her a yellow card for it every time she does it he’s by far the best player in Scotland works his socks off for the team so maybe he thinks they should be doing the same and let’s them know about it enjoy this guy for as long as we can keep him he’s a special player and you’ll realize that when he’s gone mate.

03 Feb 2019 09:26:41
I to was there and even when he is average you can see he is better than most in the league and almost unplayable. He must be a centre half’s nightmare. Enjoy him while we can as he won’t be at Ibrox long.

03 Feb 2019 10:41:28
I suppose that post highlights how good he has been at times this season, so by his own standards it wasn't his best but I really don't think he was poor at all, still put himself about all day and was unlucky a couple of times. I think we need to remember that he has been used to playing up top himself for the best part of 18 months, so to expect him to adapt within a couple of games to having a strike partner is a bit unreasonable. He will be finding Defoe in some of the spaces he himself would be in so it's just a case of working that partnership. So yeah not his best but certainly not poor.

03 Feb 2019 12:26:29
Fair do's guys.
Granted he works his socks off, and puts the fear of God into defences. I just think he thought he would have been away down South this month. He went on a similar strop last year and we had to, 'review' his contract. Time will tell and there will be no one more pleased if he gets another dozen goals at least, ESPECIALLY if he can score against Them.

03 Feb 2019 13:03:00
I don't think Morelos has had a strop. He's been one of our best, most consistent player this season. I think we'll miss him if and when he moves.
