As anyone will know on here, i'm a massive fan of scotty arfield. What a deserved standing ovation he got, when he came on against st. joseph's last night. Right away, you could see the quality this terrific midfielder,
brings to our play. He's a very clever runner and plays very intricate, defence splitting passes, through the lines with pinpoint accuracy.

Nobody within our squad will get his jersey, that's for sure. He plays in our starting 11 every week for me, with the possibility of giving him a breather from time to time, in the snaller games, if you can call them that. He's by way and far the best midfielder we have, at getting beyond our striker with his clever runs. Arfield is a class act and can play in any of our midfield positions.

arfield is quality SG agreed but by far and away our best midfielder.

can’t agree - kamara &’aribo will both prove to be as good am sure but i feel davis could also prove to be just be as crucial

his reading of the game touch vision ball retention under pressure are exceptional - he controls games for us and you barely notice - if i can be a bit harsh he’s like jack but a better footballer sorry guys just way i see it

he took a while to get back fit &’adapt to his new deep lying role but back end of season and in spells vs marseilles he was outstanding his speed of thought and ability to win ball back because he’s a yard quicker than anyone else ‘upstairs’ is frightening.

problem with Morelos? he is worth 20+ million but i think you have to reduce that by 50% because of his attitude and really stupid discipline, on top of course he doesn't speak or understand our lingo and refuses point blank to learn. So all in all, yes he is a good striker but he is going to cause us to have to settle for a much reduced fee if we decide we want to sell. One more season might see a different player but i can't help thinking the yellow and red cards will be out sooner than later.

Hey Ritchie how many languages can you speak. Not as easy as you think to learn and some find it easier than others. English is about the hardest to learn btw. i'm sure he knows enough to get by, you don't work everyday and stay in a country that speaks a language that you don't pick up at least some of the important phrases.

Richie, Morelos had a discipline problem that's all you are correct about. Until he shows the same pish from last season then I will give him the benefit of the doubt. Like I said yesterday, Goldson received a yellow for raising his hands for no reasonable reason. Unfortunately it may be the ambitious players we have, the winning management, the club draped in history and trophies that drives that behaviour deep down. We need that drive and hunger but we need control 99% of the time. Perhaps that's what separate us from them and them from the very best.

Morelos is a PROPER goalscorer and is worth circa 20m regardless of his attitude He does what matters!

The boy will RIP it up wherever he goes!

Due to his retaliation and biting back he is ALWAYS going to be a target in Scotland IF he stays another year He needs to prove that he is bigger than that!

If and when he goes to the EPL or Bundesliga his attitude will simmer I'm quite confident in that being the case!

We also need to get a good percentage on moving on fees THIS BOY WILL GO PLACES Mark my words!

the problem is that in my opinion it will have a major impact on the squad and the way we play. Tavs understanding with Candeias allows him to play in the way he does, I'm not sure he'll have that with anyone else for a while. And as for Morelos, it will definitely mean he leaves, maybe to the extent of a transfer request and us losing him for pennies.

Morelos scoring a hat-trick last night before the season has started will have added value to his cv and make managers take notice. IMHO he is worth every bit of £30 million going by others being sold down south.

I am also of the opinion that Tav is worth at least £15 million.

If both are sold for their worth then that is a fair amount for SG's war chest.

I doubt a hatrick v posties and farmers from Gibraltar will add much value. Really want to keep Morelos he is our best threat that is a fact. If he keeps his head and no sending offs could easily hit 40 this season.

Said many times jyf anything between 12-15mil including add ons and a sell on % is around the mark I value him. I think he is a great finisher, with him and defoe in the squad we have goals and are very strong up top. morelos is not as intelligent as defoe with his runs and link up play. we play better football with defoe up top. I do like morelos but he's childish and unless he curbs that he will continue to cost us games and points. He has a bit to go before he's a 20mil player never mind the outrageous 30mil that was mentioned. 👍.

Jason Cummings being told he can go. I never thought he was given a fair crack, not a lone striker.
Would be worth a punt for 2 year deal, he is only 23. Stability and the right club allowing him to work hard to get in squad and team, I think he could.
We are low on strikers, thoughts?

On jason cummings guys, i think he would score goals in a system with 2 up top, as he is a natural goalscorer. Playing in his preferred system, he will undoubtedly score goals. A good jambo pal of mine tells me hearts and aberdeen both want to sign jason cummings. I know he was a hearts support as a boy.

The Kilmarnock result in Europa League against Welsh minnows does nothing for the battered reputation of the Scottish League and game. Just when you think that maybe some Scottish teams were improving a little as Kilmarnock were one of the stronger teams within our League last year. This is why Teams down south won't pay good money for players up here and get away with getting most on the cheap. Bit of a rant but I'm annoyed that our game gets slaughtered because of results like this.

Teams will take notice and pay top dollar for players from rangers and celtic when said players perform in the champs league. Kieran trippier, 3 years left on his contract, scored in the world cup semi final, champions league finalist- moves for 20mil. People are serious tae when they want 20+ mil for morelos and 15 mil for tav.

Trippier will be 29 this year so that's one big difference. He is also in final year of contract and was out of the team at end of the season. Atletico managed to get themselves a good deal, doesn't mean other clubs players are valued less because of that? if so what are we touting tav at?

To an extent I would agree but I would stand by the value of our players. I honestly don't think there is a major difference in the quality between morelos and dembele (Okay maybe in temperament), but Celtic manage to always get good value for players.

Perhaps we need to be competing more in Europe to prove our players are good enough for big teams but I've got no doubt morelos will kick on and score goals for big sides.

Take out rangers and Celtic and the spl is on a par with league of Ireland! That’s why we will be lucky to get anywhere near 15million for Morelos and scoring goals against a pub team last night isn’t going to make any difference. The Kilmarnock result is embarrassing for Scottish football.

Dunno how this will go but I didn't see what all the fuss was about Aribo last night? Am not saying he was poor I just don't think he played as well as people are saying. To be honest I don't think anyone really stood out. You could see it was still very early season. If I was pushed for MotM, for me it would have been Kamara. Shout out to Alfie though. Still proving his critics wrong!

No James I sat in my seat at Ibrox with my eyes closed lol. It wasnt a criticism lads. Only an opinion. As crazy as this sounds, I was bored at a 6-0 win. It was routine against a team like that. The atmosphere around me was fairly flat!

To be honest Kamara actually had one of his poorer games last night, gave the ball away a few times. Realistically though that wasn’t the sort of game that he thrives in, he plays better in situations where there’s a lot of pressure in the middle of the park and he creates time and space and moves the ball on to others. As we dominated all possession last night he was having to try and push forward and play ‘killer passes’ more which isn’t really his style. Aribo was very solid, won tackles when he had to, drove forward and supported well, held on to the ball well and showed that he will be a very useful addition. We do have to remember that the standard of opposition though was very poor, probably bottom end Scottish championship or league one even.

Can't please everyone, 6-0 win in europe against any team is a good result. The players can ply beat who is front of them and they all done there job's well.
Thought on sunday Aribo had a better game against marsielle than he did last night (even though he scored) but he will be in my opinion one of the top players in the league this season.

Sometimes players raise their game against bigger teams in bigger matches, and maybe not so much in easier ones, such as Kamara last night. I'm sure he could have gone up a few gears if he had to. Ultimately though, it was more minutes in the legs as we head towards the charge to 55.

Doc was the man of the match for me if you take away the obvious man fredo. Kamara had a poor game by his standards and Aribo was decent but not as good as he’s been in other games. But we humped them and that’s what matters. We need to get by in games with some players not playing at their peak. That’s what champions do. Roll on the start of the season as I think we will grind out 3pts in games that we would’ve drew or lost last season.

I think Goldson will get fined under the new discipline rules brought in by SG. Silly Yellow card at the end for reacting to a part time player when we are 6 up, we've got to stamp that out and learn before were up against the Scottish refs and Euro refs in more difficult games. You could see Goldson walking off well pissed off with himself, he knows he's getting rifled.
