Im I the only 1 who isn't excited about muscat? I mean I pray to God, jesus, zeus even the devil he brings us success. He was successful in leagues where most of us and even Martin would be great, are most delighted with this appointment because he has been compared to ange?. Again I'm not judging him I'm just not has excited as most on here. Any comments on this would be great to hear.

If it is Muscat, I'll definitely be excited.
A head coach with a solid reputation, experience in multiple leagues and a track record lettered with trophies.
Given how poor the quality of football is in the SPL, I wouldn't be so quick to criticise Asian football.
17 Oct 2025 07:02:35
Is the spfl league far superior to these leagues like? ?? spfl is a joke league at moment. Also shanghai port play this morning at 11am live on youtube anybody wanting to watch ??.
17 Oct 2025 07:12:43
I am excited but cautious too.
17 Oct 2025 07:15:24
Yep I'm the same. Hopefully wrong though.
17 Oct 2025 07:18:37
I think a lot of people underestimate the Asian leagues and how good football is out there.
Eg: You only have to look at how well the likes of Japan and South Korea have done in recent world cups.
As I said in another post, the top 4 teams in China would turn over most teams in our SPL imo.
17 Oct 2025 07:19:39
King- am afraid that sounds like judging although you say not? - even Martin could succeed in that league? - c'mon even the Chinese would see through RMs waffle - let's give the guy a chance because let's be honest gone are the days when we could attract bigger name managers to a normally 2 team league fight -there is more money, prestige and media coverage elsewhere in the world and even in Britain for English Prem and Championship for that matter - so these are currently the waters we are swimming in so I for one hope he comes here and makes a name for himself and more importantly our club- Musky in with support and "Jobs for the Boys Thelwell" out before Xmas would be my plea! Mon the Gers.
17 Oct 2025 07:25:39
What made you think the Australian league, the Japanese league and the Chinese league are easy?
17 Oct 2025 07:32:19
I'm delighted, think your pushing it with Martin though.
17 Oct 2025 07:41:35
Not sure how it matters what league you're operating in, I don't understand what that means that everyone even Martin would win those leagues, he's won the leagues don't you think every other manager and team he's competing against is trying also to be successful. I don't think they're all one horse races!? If I'm missing something please correct me.
Muscat wasn't my first choice but far from my last resort so I'm optimistic and will back him the same as I do with every manager even RM when he came in. Let's just hope he gets the players on side.
17 Oct 2025 07:43:43
I'm excited to bring a manager who has won things previously, importantly with clubs who weren't always the biggest in the league.
He gets my support but as I've always said, he will need to hit the ground running.
I'm excited about January, if we sign one or two players from his side of the world then it's good that we're not getting average lower league players from England - we'll have a chance next season. If we don't then it's clear the owners still trust Thelwell and Muscat will be lucky to last 12 months.
Honestly guys, he's done enough in his career to merit support.
17 Oct 2025 08:03:22
Utter nonsense kingandulster.
17 Oct 2025 08:07:57
Actually, if anything i'd say the SPL is less of a joke league than normally Paul,
At least there's other teams doing OK and not Rangers and Celtic 20 points clear of everyone. A more competitive league makes everyone better IMO.
winning 3 titles in 3 different countries is good by anyone's standards and I expect Muscat to have everything were looking for in a head coach.
17 Oct 2025 08:36:21
Bazbear how far we've fallen down co effiecient makes it a joke league. Every side in europe getting turned over by poor sides.. We no longer have auto qualifiction for europe. And zero signs of improvement. Aberdeen were in exact same position as hearts last season.
17 Oct 2025 08:45:10
The standards in football are rising. Cape Verde, Faroe isles etc. you can't dismiss Japanese, Chinese or Australian leagues. Muscat still had to win and win he did. He therefore knows how to motivate and set up a team to win. With time and a couple of Asian nuggets I'm positive. He's a winner, won't accept any lack of effort so for me it bodes well.
17 Oct 2025 08:47:13
I'm far from excited about this as I am sure we will be repeating this process by the close season at the very latest. How can anyone be excited about appointing a manager who was deemed as being less acceptable than Clement and Martin, who is at best third choice this time around behind Gerrard and Rohl.
Let's be frank about this, he's only been appointed because he's willing to work with Thelwell and the first two choices weren't. Absolute shambles.
17 Oct 2025 09:07:09
I'm completely in agreement with u King. Slag off our league if u want but Ange and all his signings viewed it as a step up so what does that say? And most haven't been good enough for our league. Even those from Japan and South Korea which is far better than China.
17 Oct 2025 09:09:53
As I said I'm not judging him, let's not kid ourselves on the Australian, Chinese leagues aren't much you could maybe argue the Japanese league is ok. Clement won the Belgian league and didn't do well here and he was chosen over muscat. As I said I'm ain't judging him I hope he smashes it and brings trophies.
17 Oct 2025 09:11:02
Lazy appointment by the Rangers hierarchy, must have found the A4 sheet of paper left by the previous board with there managers choice's, considering he was 2nd choice to Clement.
Yes I understand no manager really wants to come to the spfl, and I hope K. Muscat is a big success, but his success in European football is not good reading, but I'll give him the time and my full backing.
17 Oct 2025 09:20:10
I'm not sure who else we could have got, sco11.
17 Oct 2025 10:26:58
King
Hell always, at beginning anyway be compared to Ange. But bit unfair. Ange succeeded at tic because gers were ####. Well he's not exactly setting Heather on fire at Forest and Spurs. Can see him finding level at Burnley 2nd 11. Worries me KM follows same path.
17 Oct 2025 10:55:47
Hes a proven track record and more importantly WANTS the job.
17 Oct 2025 11:26:54
OWS - What other teams have chased him then? Does he really want this job or does he just want away from a footballing backwater into a league where if he does well he can get a move to a better league again? I feel like a broken record here, but for me this appointment is wrong on so many levels.
