I thought Lyall had been a winger who has now been converted to an attacking midfielder and Lovelace isn`t a winger, he`s a striker so why would Lyall be in competition with him .

Jim was at peak just before my time but I do know he was a great goalscorer for our club and at one point was keeping Jimmy Millar out of the team, no mean feat. Him and George McLean were the scapegoats for the defeat at Berwick because they didn`t score and Jim was sold to Aberdeen shortly afterwards. A few months later we played Bayern Munich in the Final of the ECWC with Roger Hynd a centre half as our main striker and got beat 1-0 . How we could have done with Jim that night .
RIP Jim Forrest forever part of the Rangers family.

Wslger, Roger Hynd, that’s a name from the past no nonsense centre half, he was the cousin to the late great Bill Shankly and also Trevor Francis’s body guard on the pitch at Birmingham City. Lots of the old guard passing on now, RIP Jim Forrest . ??.
