Starting to remind me of the dark days, reading the evening times front page saying Fergie then Jim McLean knocked us back, after John Greig was sacked. ?.

Can remember Jim McLean, one of the best managers is Scottish football history that doesn't get nearly enough credit.

Can also remember him playing John Clark at cb against Barcelona with 3 cb's, usual system for him, but it certainly worked that night, and remember very well the pundits saying what's he doing playing a cf at cb, Clarke was outstanding that night scored a cracking header.

Fergie always was a bitter man, wasn't happy he was overlooked when Jock Wallace left. He used that bitterness and stubbornness to good effect though.
Was the reason Jim Maclean knocked us back to do with not having much money due to investing in stadium?

Both alex ferguson and jim mclean knocked us back, because they wanted the free lance of being able to sign anyone of any religion which in those days was refused by willie waddell and both turned the job down because of this ?.

Ferguson next destination was England sws.

McLean wasn't interested in that.

My star my late grans cousin was wullie waddle mate and one of jim mcleans first signings for Rangers if he took the job was going to be big dave narey who was catholic and at that time Rangers didn't sign catholic players ? Both alex ferguson and jim mclean wanted free lance to be able to sign anyone which obviously was refused, i can assure you mate.

Sws, Narey was the best CB in Scotland at that time and one of the best ever in my imho, well definitely in my life time, only Hanson better, he's better than both Big Eck and W Miller imo.

Sws forgot, couldn't care what religion he was only interested is how good a footballer he was, great range of passing from a centre back back in the 80's, that wasn't a common thing.
