just to carry on my previous post on ally mccoist--I was on this board back then and it was not a pretty site with all the posts aimed at 2 things--incompetence as a a manger and his contract---short memories here folks---as a player he is undoubtedly one of our legends ---and would probably have won us the league this year if he was in the present team and scored 40 goals plus ---but no apologies from me on the cash he made winning games in the 3rd, 2nd and 1st divisions playing brechin and stirling albion every week---once again--LEGEND but rotten overpaid manager.

28 May 2019 00:09:48
Agreed Deecee. Top player, terrible manager! Still trying to work out the 11 men in the box at a corner?

Regarding his salary, I nearly choked on my corn flakes listening to talk sport this week when he was talking about clubs being responsible with their finances. I think he was one of the highest paid managers in Britain (including epl) when we were in the 3rd division and offering ludicrous salaries to the likes of Sandaza and Kyle!

28 May 2019 05:50:26
Zikos, that's not mccoist's fault what charlie green paid him or for that matter what he paid the players. Because he didn't do great as our manager coming through the lower reaches of scottish football,
doesn't excuse some supporters tarring him with certain things and the derogatory names they were calling the legend. Not f*****g on in my book! Coisty was under the constraints as rangers manager that no other has had to endure, or ever likely to endure! He was the glue in keeping our club together, trying to be the manager, chairman, chief executive and everything else the comes to mind, all rolled into to one. He was under monumental strain.
Give the guy some credit for christ sake.

28 May 2019 06:40:07
So deecee you've got nothing to say so you decide to attack one of our own. You miss quoted ally then claim he was on at least £100,000 a week, what crap you spout, I think I sit near you at Ibrox. Are you the one that sits shouting at our own players for 90 mins giving it he's crap he's over paid get him tae f%*k etc? Ally gave up a VERY lucrative career to join his beloved Rangers and took a big drop in his earnings so where do you get your nonsense from?

28 May 2019 06:50:08
McCoist had no chance, walter smith and alex ferguson would have achieved nothing under the same circumstances. Pre admin, did McCoist not have us 15 points ahead of celtic? McCoist tried to keep our club together when everyone else was tearing it apart. The money he was owed he deserved and had every right to hold out for it. Many men would have crippled under the pressure he faced daily. He had 6 players at the start of the 3rd div, who else would have stuck by us? . Granted maybe not the best manager we have ever had but He never stood a chance! Always a legend and Always welcome at ibrox👍.

28 May 2019 07:25:07
I think McCoist was in an impossible position and though I thought at the time he was greedy given what he was being paid, would any one of us turned that down? The one thing he didn't do which I think is unforgivable is to give some of our kids a chance when we were in the lowest tier of Scottish football. Surely some of our talented kids would still have been good enough to win through and goodness knows how good they would have been by now? Ally is still a Rangers legend as far as a player is concerned, but as a manager nothing special.

28 May 2019 07:32:47
Will never have a bad word said about SUPER ALLY. Steered our club through its most traumatic period. For me, without even a single doubt in my mind, the greatest ever Glasgow Ranger. No debate. Move on!

28 May 2019 10:19:53
I think you'll find that John Grieg has already been given that honour C!

28 May 2019 11:18:21
I could well be wrong, but was it not down to Martin Bain that McCoist was getting paid silly money? I am sure that the season Walter was leaving, Ally was given assurances over salary and the managers position?

28 May 2019 11:42:57
How about this, If McCoist wasnt getting that money whos pocket would it have been going in? Personally McCoist or Smith are the 2 men I would prefer to have had the silly money in there pocket rather than Green or Whyte.

28 May 2019 13:54:59
It was always a poisoned challice, that no manager could have come out of well - McCoist is and always will be a legend of Rangers FC.

27 May 2019 18:43:04
Never seen a thread on it and apologies if I’ve missed it but would just like Mark the passing of Harry Hood, a gentleman whom I’d come across more than a few times at Angels in Uddingston and had a lot of time for both halves of the OF. RIP.

27 May 2019 17:33:34
Think with Villa winning play offs that they will be favourites to sign Kent, don't think we can compete with them now.

27 May 2019 17:54:30
Their transfer targets will probably be vastly different depending on what league they would be playing in next season.
I'm not going to guess if Kent remains (if he is in their sights at all) in their plans.
I guess we'll need to to wait and see.

27 May 2019 17:31:45
Congrats to Aston Villa getting promotion. Can I just say, I am so pleased hibs didn't sell Mcginn to Celtic. What a player he's been for them and a bargain for Villa at 2.5 mil. He would have strengthened them massively and caused us problems.

27 May 2019 18:39:58
Agree with that mate, hopefully we’re looking at Turnbull at Motherwell, he could be even better than McGinn and I’m sure Celtic with be all over him like a rash also!

27 May 2019 18:51:32
No doubts there will be people who will disagree but I am glad that mob didn't get him too. He is a fantastic player and he wouldve improved them tenfold. If you don't see that, then you are clueless. Missing out on him was the begining of the end for Bendy Rodgy!

27 May 2019 20:09:55
& they got him for 2.5
Kent for 10?

27 May 2019 21:40:33
U do know that Kent is not a Rangers player, whatever the price is it is nothing to do with us,

Tommy.

27 May 2019 14:49:28
Are rangers in a cup for pre season?

27 May 2019 16:21:07
Aye champions league final, I wish,

27 May 2019 16:33:26
Naw got knocked out them all couple month ago lol.

27 May 2019 13:06:34
listened to the mccoist interview on the brazil show---wrong job at the wrong time ally . but the money wasn't bad eh? ---"hypocrit".

27 May 2019 17:05:47
Rangers are still here because of people like Ally Mccoist, a glue that held us together when the easy option would have been to scurry away and leave us rudderless. Hypocrite? Never he wears his heart on his sleeve and is Rangers through and through, unlike some who still want to have an uninformed go years after he left the club.

27 May 2019 17:34:38
Well said Jyf.

27 May 2019 17:38:15
Well said jyf.

27 May 2019 17:41:35
I'm with you Jyf. Some care to call this legend a leech and how he took his wage. What they intentially don't mention is that ally mccoist didn't take a wage for months, when all this first happened, to help the club he loves out! Super ally has given me many a great, celebration night out,
scoring goals for us in his heyday.
Always will be a rangers legend to me. I absolutely think the world of coisty.

27 May 2019 17:55:49
six figures a week---not bad --.

27 May 2019 19:04:45
Deecee it’s not his fault what his wages were now was it?
See in your job would turn round an say no you are paying me too much take a a 3rd back?

27 May 2019 19:45:57
considering he was a multi millionaire at the time, yes he should have considered a pay cut---im not a multi millionaire and could have done the job he did which amounted to clueless---signing all his mates as well---great player for us tho--never in any doubt and that's not my point.

27 May 2019 20:25:33
Anyone who has a bad word to say about Super Ally has a short memory. And that’s me being kind. He was attempting to manage the team in frankly appalling conditions. He was one of the few people there at the time who actually cared about the club? Who cares what his salary was? There are plenty people who have bled far more for far less out of our club. Even if you didn’t rate his time as manager, that does not undo 416 games, 251 goals (including 28 against Celtic) and 2 European Golden Boots. Absolute LEGEND. Show some respect.

27 May 2019 20:44:28
Bang on Theswagman.

27 May 2019 21:43:59
Much as I love the guy, he definitely didn't go without wages, he simply delayed them, that is a fact

Tommy.

27 May 2019 22:07:15
Totally wrong tommy12000 and i know that for a fact. You don't know half of what super ally had to go through. It was in his contract that he got a wage rise. Don't try and confuse the two. Coisty most definitely did go several months without wages as did big jig mcculloch.

27 May 2019 22:54:32
On Talksport this morning Mccoist Actually said Right Job, Wrong time.

27 May 2019 23:46:35
Easy to go without money when your already a multi millionaire. Try going without money when you play for Bury or Macclesfield staff. Under McCoist the football was atrocious and he did endorse both Whyte and Green. It’s sheer fantasy if you think he saved us or held the club together. People have a romantic view of him for what he did as a player. A player who couldn’t cut it at the highest level.

28 May 2019 00:04:19
You’re a disgrace.

28 May 2019 00:08:46
Usual load of bitter bull on here!

McCoist served our club to the best of his ability through the worst period in our history.

Perhaps you experts think otherwise but for me Walter Smith has forgotten more about football than any expert on here and he gives McCoist his full backing.

28 May 2019 01:23:17
I actually can’t believe that post Arthur. If that’s how you treat a club legend, god only knows what “support” you give the current lot, because with the possible exceptions of McGregor and Davis, they don’t come close to McCoist in terms of their impact on this club. As Celtic come worryingly close to 9 in a row, you should maybe remember that without Ally we would never have reached that mark ourselves.

28 May 2019 02:37:27
Decree where you getting six figures a week from? McCoist was getting around £750,000 a year! Yes a lot of money but he put his own reputation on the line and also tarnished his Management capabilities throughout the dark days

Always will be a Rangers legend He loves Rangers to the bone

Love McCoist and always will One of the greatest footballers in his time!
