Does it really matter who it is or how many shares they will buy. Gone are the days of a sugar daddy and the only reason someone would invest in a club is for the potential that the share price might rise. We have busy savy people at the helm now so there isn’t anything that an investor could bring to the table unless they had a direct link to a huge company that could increase sponsorship money by paying over the odds for their name on our beloved strip.

yes, it does matter, obviously.

09 May 2024 16:11:19
People would invest if we could prove the player trading model. Look at Benfica. We haven't done that yet although I'm confident in Koppen.

Had heard a month ago british investor interested. Only thing is with ffp what can an investor really do.

09 May 2024 19:11:07
Of course it matters! Doh!

09 May 2024 19:25:12
55, an investor can put money into club infrastructure and a small amount into playing staff.

09 May 2024 19:25:28
newcastle just got bought by a (sugar daddy) so did birmingham as well. Newcastle obvs being the saudis.

The big money from any source would be blocked by the current controllers. They will not give up control to anyone at any amount of money, Tattie howkers fc are the same.

If Saudi prince took over the Jags they would stroll our league very soon after actually they could take over Bonnyrigg Rose and sort it out easily.

CEO of Cora is Phil Martin.

09 May 2024 21:02:35
Deboer that's kind of what's already been done.

09 May 2024 22:01:55
Is it just me or is there a lot of 0-0 duck egg posters appearing all of a sudden?.

09 May 2024 22:10:09
Forth, that is not what I am hearing, two current major shareholders willing to divest of their shareholding. Across the City the situation is different.

09 May 2024 22:14:38
Always surprised that someone with real money doesn't come in and have a good chance of CL money and exposure every year, with not a lit of investment, after all (let's be honest! ) They could buy our club for less than a top striker in EPL.

10 May 2024 00:10:16
With all the money in the world Newcastle can’t buy a player. Rules of ffp dictate that all money spent will ultimately have to come from revenue so having a multi billionaire backer doesn’t mean we can have handouts and buy the original Ronaldo like before. This is the reason why the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona have made their stadiums bigger to maximise their income so they can spend more money on non playing staff and infrastructure.

10 May 2024 10:03:47
Ausbear, your last point kind of proves everyone else point? A billionaire owner could upgrade the stadium in turn increasing revenue also could get the very best of scouting departments set up. You don’t need a 100m a summer to win the Scottish league.

He said its not his place to mention his name but has gave clues to who he is, is that not more or less giving his name?

10 May 2024 13:08:19

10 May 2024 19:38:25

Money sure helps but does it really buy success?

Chelsea are a great example of a club that have spent billions over the last 20 years, we can all see how that is working out for them.

Would rather have a DOF that can spot a quality raw talented player and build him up to his true potential, we get 2-3 years out of them and make some money to re invest back into the squad and next campaign.

Koppen masterminded PSV's rise to the top of dutch football again and turned them around from an average europa league side to a highly talented champions league quality side, with little money, he started as their youth talent scout, for example one player cost a mere 200k at 17 yr old, that player now only 21yr old and worth over 40 million is there most valuable player, Bakayoko,
i have zero doubt he will bring in high quality young players that will create a very skilled and talented young team.
Veerman is another example, while we turned our noses up at the lad, Koppen and PSV did not, his value has gone from 6 mill to 32 mill.

we all seen the difference between the PSV we played a couple of seasons ago and the one that skillfully ripped us apart in the second champions league playoff match.
