As our defence quite rightly is the topic of how bad it is just now and needs addressed, as soon as the january window opens, got me thinking about how i view our centre half signing from peterborough emanuel Fernandez and has he got the minerals to succeed at Rangers and become a really good centre half going forward ?I personally see potential on this young centre half and although raw with a good few rough edges, i do see signs the big fella could be moulded into a really good centre half moving forward ?ED, could you please run a poll among us on here regarding Fernandez if you don't mind mate ?My poll being "will Emanuel Fernandez become a good centre half at Rangers or will he not make a good centre half at Rangers" Cheers as usual ED, very much appreciated pal ?.

I think we all want Fernandez to do well seems a very likeable young guy. I remember when he signed he brought his family up and they all seemed very proud of him. You never know if he makes the grade up here he could make us serious money.

BT? Re Fernandes. You could be the best CB in the world but if you've got dumplings along side of you, they are going to make you look like a dumpling.

That's it Whatsmyname, he's done well alongside Djiga, judge him with better.

What signs do you see, SWS?

We said the same about Nsiala but until someone is actually brave enough to give players a run of games then we will never know.

Sorry, what position does he play again coops?

Regarding Fernandez, i see signs he could be moulded into a good centre half Thornton ? He's terrific in the air, he's imposing and if he gets his positional sense improved, he'll do well in scottish football imo ?The guy is an absolute unit and so strong and absolutely can use that to his advantage ? What signs do you see Thornton that you don't think he can make it at Rangers ?Of course he's raw and needs improving and the rough edges polished but i truly think there's a good centre half in there ?.

He is 23 not a very young boy he should be better than raw by now not saying he won't make it but don't use raw as an excuse for a 23 year old that to me is alarming.

He might develop okay if we buy a decent experienced centre back to play beside him. Just a pity we never paired him with Cornelius before he got injured.

SWS, first of all, I never said I don't think he can make it at Rangers, I simply asked you what you see, but there you go. He's not terrific in the air, merely decent for a guy who is six and a half feet tall. He's not a raw young kid at 24, at the age of 20 even Danny Wilson, who was considered a prospect, had 5 international caps.
For someone of his age and build he doesn't use his physicality nearly well enough, is not technically great and positionally he switches off at times. He'll be a decent centre half, but possibly not for us.

I said no to him turning out a good centre half for us, even with how tall he is, at this point I'm not sure he has the ability or physicality to be a strong centre half for us.
